Scenario:
The episode begins with Momoan announcing the lucky Coordinators that have made it into the next round thanks to their skill in the appeal part of the Contest. A screen lights up above her, showing that Zoey, Ash, Dawn and Jessie have all passed into the battle stages, much to their delight. Dawn is relieved, and Zoey congratulates her. Excited that she's been able to get this far, Dawn decides to call up her mother to tell her the good news. Upon calling her, her mother congratulates her too, and wishes her the best of luck in the battle stage. Dawn nods and says that she'll do her best.

After hanging up, Momoan announces to the Coordinators and the audience that the battle round pairings are decided at random. On the screen overhead, the results are shown. Ash will face off against Zoey, Dawn is against a young boy and Jessie's opponent is a stern looking young man. Ash is happy that he's going up against Zoey, and that going for the Shinou League and ribbons will be a lot of fun. At this, Zoey glares at him from across the room. Dawn tells Ash to calm down, and tries to tell him about Contest Battles. Ash seems confident though, until Zoey walks over to him. Ash wishes Zoey luck, but Zoey shrugs his best wishes off and asks him if he's going for the Shinou League. Ash says that he is, and Zoey says that he really shouldn't interfere in Contests: Contest battles and Gym Battles are totally different, and he should never compare them.

Watching all of this is Jessie in disguise, who smirks at the verbal dressing down that Ash just received as the young group walks off. At this,James and Meowth appear, hobbling over to her and covered in bumps and bruises. Jessie is shocked and asks what happened to them, and they go outside to talk in private. James explains that they were caught out trying to sell the fake entrance enhancing ribbons, much to Jessie's dismay. She gets up however, and states that this time, regardless of anything, she will win a ribbon. A blinding holy light appears behind her, and James and Meowth bow down before her. As Jessie laughs, we see Wobbuffet behind her holding a stage light.

Back inside the Contest Hall, Momoan tells the crowd that the first battle of the Contest is about to begin, and the screen above her shows Ash and Zoey's faces, along with a timer showing 5 minutes. The battle begins, and Ash sends out his chosen Pokemon, Aipom who appears in a burst of stars. Zoey sends out Glameow. Ash orders Aipom to attack, but Zoey smirks and mutters an order to Glameow who sits down and watches Aipom come for it. Ash smiles at this, thinking he's got it won, and orders Aipom to use Focus Punch. Aipom does so, but Glameow reacts fast and grabs Aipom by the tail, using its Shadow Claw attack. Aipom is shocked, even more so when Glameow swings Aipom around by the tail and throws it across the arena. Ash tells Aipom to use Swift, which it does, raining lightning fast stars down on Glameow. Zoey tells Glameow to attack, but ends up being confused and unable to when Aipom uses Double Team on Ash's command. With Glameow wondering which one to attack, Ash tells Aipom to use Swift agan. However, Zoey tells Glameow to jump into the air, and Glameow uses its claws to knock the Swift attack back at Aipom and knocking it back.

The two trainers and Pokemon face off, and Ash tells Aipom to use Focus Punch, and Zoey tells Glameow to use Iron Tail. Iron Tail blocks the Punch, and the two Pokemon are locked as their two attacks push against each other. Eventually the Iron Tail wins, smashing into Aipom's face and knocking it back into the ground. With only 29 seconds left on the clock, it doesn't look good for Ash, and Zoey, seeing this, smirks. Not accounting for Ash's hotblooded battle style however, Ash tells Aipom to get up, fight and do its best. Aipom nods and gets up, running towards Glameow to attack with a Focus Punch. Zoey smirks, and tells Glameow to use its Shadow Claw attack, which causes its paw to glow with a strange dark power. Ash smiles, knowing that Shadow Claw is a Ghost type attack. Dawn realizes what Ash is thinking, and says that as Aipom is a Normal type, it's unafected by Glameow's Ghost type attack. Brock isn't convinced though, and says that Zoey must know this, and has a reason for calling for such an attack.

The two Pokemon collide, and Aipom's Focus Punch overpowers the Shadow Claw. Ash tells Aipom to attack, and Zoey tells her Pokemon to jump to avoid the Focus Punch. Glameow does so, jumping high above Aipom before coming down and delivering a harsh Iron Tail attack on Zoey's command. Aipom is sent flying back, with nine seconds left on the clock. Zoey looks confident that she's going to win, but Ash says he isn't about to give up, and tells Aipom to use a full power, no holding back, Focus Punch. Just as the attack is about to hit Glameow square in the face, the timer runs out and Zoey is declared the winner. The crowd cheers, and Zoey turns to face them and bows.

Back in the Coordinator waiting room, Dawn congratulates Ash on an amazing battle. At this, Zoey walks up and Ash gets up and congratulates her also, but Zoey stares at him unimpressed. Ash is shocked, but Zoey explains that she was was impressed at how close the battle was, especially the last Focus Punch which made her unable to react or counter it. She smiles and says it was a great battle, and the two shake hands. Ash explains that the reason he entered the Contest in the first place was because of Aipom, and Dawn backs him up, saying that Aipom really wanted to enter. Zoey turns to look at the Pokemon in question, who is busy snacking away on some Pokemon food.

Not soon after, the next battle round begins. Dawn faces off against a Swalot, who is frozen by Buneary's Ice Beam Attack. As for Jessie, she faces off against a Rhydon with her Carnivine. Both trainers successful, the semi-final round pairings are announced: Dawn vs Zoey, and Jessie vs. A young male coordinator. Dawn breaths deeply, and says that this battle will decide who will make it to the final, and who will have a shot at getting the Contest Ribbon. The two trainers face off, with the large screen above them showing their point bars and the five minutes that the battle will last for. Dawn starts things off by sending out her Buneary, who appears in a burst of cherry blossoms. Zoey sends out her Glameow in response. Dawn is the first to attack, telling Buneary to use its Ice Beam attack. Buneary does so, sending out a huge burst of cold energy right at Glameow.

Zoey counters by telling Glameow to use Shadow Claw, which shocks Dawn who tells Zoey that her Pokemon is a Normal type, and thus the ttack will have no effect. Zoey smiles, and says that type doesn't matter, as Shadow Claw rips through the Ice Beam attack without any difficulty. This causes Dawn to lose points, but she quickly regains her cool and tells her Pokemon to attack again. Zoey tells Glameow to jump, which it does, using its tail to spring up high above the battle field, and then to come down and use Fury Swipes on Buneary. Buneary is sent flying back, which Zoey uses to her advantage as she tells her Glameow to use Iron Tail. Dawn tells her Buneary to try and stop the attack, and Buneary reacts quickly, getting up and grabbing Glameow's Iron Tail attack between its ears.

Zoey is impressed, and tells Dawn that Buneary did some smart thinking to stop her attack... but that won't be enough. Glameow starts spinning its tail, and with Buneary still clamped on, the poor bunny Pokemon is spun around and around before being tossed off just like Aipom. Dawn counters though, and tells Buneary to quickly use Ice Beam. Zoey tells Glameow to dodge, but by jumping, the Ice Beam hits the stage floor and freezes it. Glameow lands, and finds itself unable to gain any footing under the slippery surface. Dawn uses this to her advantage, and tells Buneary to use Dizzy Punch.

Buneary does so, smashing its ears over and over again into Glameow who slips about on the icy surface. The two Pokemon separate, and Dawn tells her Pokemon to attack again. Zoey isn't about to let the same thing happen twice however, and tells Glameow to use Shadow Claw on the ice on the floor. This causes the ice to be smashed apart, sending large chunks of it smashing into Buneary. As Buneary is knocked back by th ice particles, Dawn's points lower even further, followed by Zoey telling Glameow to use Iron Tail. The attack slams straight into Buneary, sending it flying back. Dawn begs Buneary to try to get up, but just as she does so, the timer runs out and Zoey is declared the winner.

The crowd cheers, as Dawn pats Buneary on the head and tells it that it put up a great fight: Something which the three judges seem to agree with, as they shower both trainers with praise. Not soon after, Hikari calls up her mother, and the smiles of the stage turn into tears of disappointment after coming so far. Her mother tells her that despite losing, she has come a long way and proved that she can do well in a Contest, and should be proud of herself. She then encourages Dawn to go cheer Zoey on in the final. Dawn smiles, wipes away her tears and agrees, smiling. When we see the final, we find that four minutes of the final have already passed, with Jessie going up against Zoey, with Carnivine wrapping itself around and puting the squeeze on Glameow. Jessie is sure that the ribbon will be hers, and tells Carnivine to use Bite attack.

This proves a mistake however, as Zoey tells Glameow to use Shadow Claw which knocks Carnivine back. Free from the vines, Glameow is free to attack and uses Fury Swipes repeatedly on Carnivine, much to Jessie's shock. Carnivine slides back towards Jessie, who, frustrated, tells it to use Bullet Seed. It does so, but the attack is dodged by Glameow who jumps up and uses Iron Tail on Zoey's command. The hardened tail smashes right into Carnivine, and the attack causes Jessie to lose all of her points. Zoey is declared the winner, and bows to the audience who cheers. Jessie cannot believe that she came this far to go away a loser, and mutters to herself in shock.

The audience cheers as Zoey receives her ribbon for winning the Contest, in front of the other Coordinators who clap behind her.

Not soon after, we find the group and Zoey outside, as Ash congratulates her for winning the Contest. Zoey thanks him, and wishes Dawn luck. Dawn tells her that she'll do her best for the next Contest, and that she hopes they meet again. Zoey agrees, and puts the shades on her head down in front of her eyes and walks off. Dawn shouts goodbye to her, and Zoey puts her hand up without looking back, in the age old style of rivals such as Gary and Drew. The episode ends with the group watching Zoey walk off into the sunset.

Pokemon Episode 477: Setting the World on its Buneary

Diamond And Pearl Episode 9

Scenario:
The episode starts with Dawn and Piplup facing off against a cuddly Buneary. Dawn orders Piplup to use Bubblebeam, but Buneary jumps up and swiftly dodges the attack as Ash and Brock look on in awe. Ash warns Dawn to look out for Buneary and Dawn tells Piplup to dodge the opposing Pokemon's attack and then to use Peck. Buneary dodges again and the two Pokemon go back to squaring off against eachother. Dawn shouts encouragement to Piplup, and Brock muses that Piplup seems to be getting a hang for Pokemon battles. Dawn tells Piplup to use Bubblebeam again, and Buneary counters by use Ice Beam to freeze the oncoming bubbles.

Earlier that day, we find the group being woken from their sleep by Dawn's screaming as dawn breaks. Ash, worried, runs over to Dawn's tent and asks her what's wrong. Dawn shouts at him to not come in as she's having a bad hair day, and Ash suggests that she just wear a hat. The two continue to bicker as Brock and Croagunk look on. Inside the tent, Dawn continues to try to sort her hair out but to no avail. Piplup laughs at Dawn's wild hair, and Dawn smiles as an idea comes to her. She tells Piplup to use Bubblebeam, as the two boys outside wonder what in the world she is doing. Brock then drops a potato he is peeling, and it rolls over to Croagunk. Brock asks if Croagunk could throw the potato back to him, but the frog Pokemon just looks at the potato and Brock on confusion. Brock repeats his request, and Croagunk picks up the vegetable and throws it back to its trainer with a little too much force causing it to go straight over Brock's head. Ash tries to catch the falling potato but ends up umping straight into Dawn as she comes out of her tent. Pikachu jumps up and manages to grab it in mid-air, as a wild Buneary watches from the bushes. Pikachu lands on the ground and Brock thanks it for catching the potato, and Buneary's eyes light up at the sight of the cool Pikachu.

Ash asks Dawn what the Bubblebeam was for, and Dawn shows him her shiny straight hair. She then asks him if he wants her to do it to him too, but Ash refuses and says that he's fine because he wears a hat... a hat that Aipom has just stolen and run off with. Ash tells Aipom to give him back his hat, and Pikachu goes after the mischevious monkey. Using Quick Attack, Pikachu manages to catch up to Aipom and grab the hat back. Pikachu, hat on head, lands on the ground in front of Aipom. The hat over its eyes however blocks Pikachu's vision and is about to be hit by an approaching motocycle driven by an Officer Jenny! At the last moment however Buneary jumps and pushes Pikachu out of the way in time. Ash runs over to Pikahu and asks his best friend if it is okay. Dawn checks the cute Pokemon on her Pokedex, and says that Buneary is amazing, it even saved Pikachu. Buneary gets embarrassed when Pikachu thanks it, and covers its head with its fur and hops off much to Dawn's dismay.

Officer Jenny apologises to Ash, and tells Pikachu to watch where it's going in future. Dawn thanks Officer Jenny for helping her the last time they met, but the Jenny looks at her in confusion. Brock smiles and slides up near them with a sly grin on his face. He pulls out a photo and explains to Dawn that the Police Force across Kanto, Johto, Houen and Sinnoh is made up of Officer Jenny. Dawn is confused when Jenny explains that she is the younger sister of the Jenny that Dawn had met before, as they look the same. Brock becomes annoyed and starts to rant about how each Jenny is different. In the middle of the rant however, Croagunk punches Brock in the stomach and drags him away. Jenny then asks the group if they have seen the three people on a photo she produces. Dawn wonders who the three people are, and Jenny explains that they had stolen a lot of machinary from a nearby factory.

Sometime later, the group sit down to one of Brock's delicious meals. Ash says how amazing Buneary was, and Dawn looks annoyed and asks if Ash is trying to capture Buneary too. Ash says that he is, and Dawn moans and says that she's the only one that hasn't caught a Pokemon yet so she should be the one to capture Buneary. Brock tells her to calm down and not rush herself. Dawn disagrees and shouts at Brock, saying she has to as she needs to increase her Pokemon team for the upcoming Pokemon Contest. From above, Jessie and Meowth look lovingly at the rice balls that Brock had prepared as James works on something behind them with a spanner. Jessie and Meowth complain about how hungry they are, and James tells them that they have to put up with it for now as they have no money.

Back with Ash and co., Dawn wonders why Croagunk hasn't finished its Pokemon food off. Croagunk looks suspiciously at the nearby bushes before jumping over to them and stabbing them with its arm. Buneary jumps out from the bshes and hops off. Ash suggests that they go after the Pokemon, and Dawn tells Piplup that they should follow. Running after Buneary, Dawn tells Piplup to use Bubblebeam to stop Buneary. Piplup fires off the attack and it explodes on the ground in front of Buneary causing it to stop dead in its tracks. Dawn tells Piplup to use Peck attack, but Buneary dodges skillfully. Dawn follows up by telling Piplup to use Bubblebeam, but the attack is stopped by an Ice Beam. Brock then runs up and remarks that it's interesting that Buneary can use Ice Beam like that. Buneary then runs up to Piplup and hits the Pokemon hard with a Piyopiyo Punch attack, confusing it.

Dawn tells Piplup to hang on as Buneary winks playfully at Pikachu. Piplup is confused, and Ash tells Dawn that she should return Piplup to its Pokeball to remove the confusion state. Dawn agrees but Piplup to hit hard again by Buneary before Dawn could return it. Piplup falls down to the ground and Dawn apologises to Pohama for her sloppy trainer skills. She then gets up and tells Ash that it's his turn to try to catch Buneary and Ash nods and steps forward telling Pikachu to attack. Pikachu jumps off his shoulder and Buneary becomes embarrassed and starts blushing again. Ash, Dawn and Pikachu wonder what in the world is going on as Brock smiles, knowing what's going on. Ash asks, and Brock tells him that he cannot be anything but love. Ash decides that he can use this to catch it, but Buneary fires off an Ice Beam and freezes the group in solid ice. Buneary then grabs onto Pikachu and starts to dance playfully with the confused electric Pokemon as Team Rocket watch on and plan.

After dancing around and around, Pikachu shouts at Buneary wondering if Ash and the others are alright. Buneary is taken aback at Pikachu, and its eyes start to well up. Pikachu is shocked and tries to calm the near-crying Pokemon down. Buneary cries anyway however, as Starly flies down and looks at the two Pokemon in confusion. Buneary's ears then prick up and it stops crying as she looks around wondering what she can hear. At that, a huge hand shoots out and grabs Buneary before putting it into a see-through ball and pulling the ball back into the large mecha. Pikachu tells Starly to go tell Ash, Dawn and Brock and Starly nods and flies off. Pikachu fires a Thunderbolt at the mecha, but a lightning rod next to Buneary's ball cage attracts the attack and it is absorbed into the captured Pokemon's cell, shocking Buneary. Team Rocket laugh and explain that Pikachu's attacks will just hurt any Pokemon they have captured. Meowth suggests that if Pikachu were to come with them, they'd release Mimimou.

Elsewhere, Croagunk is walking along a road and comes across Ash, Dawn and Brock frozen in a block of ice. After looking at the ice for a few second and pondering, Croagunk smashes it open with its fist. The group thank Croagunk, who continues to stand in silence. Back with Pikachu, Pikachu agrees to let them capture it. Team Rocket do so, and Pikachu tells Meowth to let Buneary go. Jessie laughs, thinking Pikachu naive to think that they'd let Buneary go. At that, Ash and co. arrive look angrily at Team Rocket as they notice that both Pikachu and Buneary have been captured. This starts Team Rocket off on their motto, and after they finish, Meowth laughs at Buneary trying to escape, explaining that they've used stronger materials this time. Ash runs to the mecha, saying that he'll save them both. Meowth pulls some levers however and uses the mecha's claws to keep Ash away. Officer Jenny then appears and produces the photo from before, realising that Team Rocket are the thieves who stole the materials rom the factory.

Inside its cage, Pikachu uses Iron Tail over and over, and eventually shatters the glass and escapes. Jessie tells Meowth to do something, and Meowth grits his teeth and presses another button causing the top half of the mecha to rise up into the air. Team Rocket laugh at the escape they are making, but Pikachu smashes Buneary's bubble cage. Ash then tells Pikachu to use Thunderbolt, and Dawn tells Buneary to use Ice Beam. Both Pokemon use their attacks on the mecha's rocket boosters, causing them to freeze up and explode and the mecha to fall to the ground. Ash catches Pikachu as it falls, and Dawn catches Buneary. The mecha smashes into the earth, and Team Rocket crawl out, rejected before running off as Officer Jenny chases after them- her bike somehow being slower than Team Rocket. Buneary huggles Dawn, and Dawn asks the cute Pokemon if it would like to come along with them. Buneary seems to agree, but Dawn asks if it would like to have a battle anyway.

Buneary leaps at Piplup again and tries to attack, and Brock warns her that it's using Piyopiyo Punch again. Dawn tells Piplup to dodge and use Peck again. Piplup does so, smashing straight into Buneary and sending it flying back. Dawn throws a Pokeball, gritting her teeth and hoping for the best. The Pokemon wobbles back and forth and eventually stops... Buneary is now Dawn's! Dawn jumps up and down in excitement and thanks Pocham, and Ash congratulates Dawn on her new Pokemon. Dawn thanks him and Brock for helping her today, and then calls out Buneary. Trainer and Pokemon hug eachother tight.

The episode ends with Dawn vowing to them that they'll do their best in the upcoming Pokemon contest.

Scenario:
The episode begins right in the action, with Team Rocket having just managed to steal Pikachu away from Ash and making their escape. Pikachu dangles below their balloon as Ash, Dawn and Brock chase them from the ground insisting that the three villains stop. James laughs, and says that of course they won't give Pikachu back. Meowth then chimes in saying that it feels great to have finally snatched away Pikachu from the brats. On the ground, Ash and co. continue their pursuit of Team Rocket. However, as the balloon flies further and further away from them, Ash decides to get Pikachu back to old fashioned way. He calls out Starly and tells it to fly after Team Rocket and get Pikachu back. James isn't about to let Starly get away with that though, and sends out his Carnivine to attack the small bird. Carnivine has other ideas however, and turns around and hugs onto James tightly. James screams and insists that Carnivine let go off him, and Jessie and Meowth struggle to pull the over-affectionate Pokemon of their comrade. The force of all three Rocket members trying to get Carnivine off James causes the balloons basket to rock, and Starly's beak comes into contact with the balloon causing it to pop and for it, and Pikachu, to fall down to the ground.

When the balloon finally hits land, it lands just next to a lake in the middle of some bushes. The force of the impact to the ground attracts the attention of a nearby Turtwig who runs over to the cage Pikachu is contained in. Turtwig somehow unlocks Pikachu's cage and Pikachu jumps out and happily thanks his savior. Jessie then says she isn't about to let Pikachu go that easily, and James tells Carnivine to go get Pikachu back. Turtwig, through Meowth's translation, says that it won't let them get Pikachu. James isn't impressed, and tells Carnivine to use Bullet Seed. Pikachu and Turtwig dodge the attack however, and Turtwig starts to run towards Team Rocket with a look that worries Meowth. Turtwig then smashes into Carnivine, who goes flying, knocks into Jessie, James and Meowth and causing them to blast off again. Ash, Dawn and Brock then appear on the scene, and Ash says that he's happy to see that Pikachu is alright.

Dawn notices the Turtwig, and Ash checks up on the small but feisty Pokemon on hisPokedex. Dawn clenches her fist and says that this is her chance to get a Pokemon, and sends out her Piplup to use Peck. Turtwig uses Razor Leaf to counter, which Piplup dodges. The leaves miss, but attack a bush instead containing an Oddish. The dazed Oddish walks out of the bush confused, and lets out a Sleep Powder attack. Ash remembers the attack and runs over to Pikachu and tries to get it out off the way. While doing so though, Ash himself, along with Pikachu, is caught in the attack and instantly falls asleep. Turtwig then walks over to Ash and puts Pikachu on his shell back before running off into the woods. Dawn and Brock start to run after Turtwig, just as an old woman appears and wonders what is going on. Dawn and Brock stop, and sometime after, we find them in the old woman's house along with Ash. The old woman pours some red medicine down Ash's throat to cure him off the Sleep Powder and Ash awakens.

Ash asks where he is, and where Pikachu is, and the old woman tells him to calm down, ad that her name is Yukino. Ash introduces himself, and Yukino tells him that his Pikachu is alright, as the Turtwig that took it means no harm... it just wants a friend. We then see Turtwig using Headbutt on a tree to knock several juicy oranges down which it hands to Pikachu. Pikachu seems a little confused at this, but eventually starts to nibble down on the tasty fruit. Back in Yukino's house, Dawn asks if the old woman is a trainer. She says that she isn't, neither is she a Coordinator. She then goes onto explain how for sometime, she's been feeding the lonely Turtwig. We then cut back to Pikachu, who along with Turtwig, look up a tree to see a Mankey and a Geodude fighting over a delicious piece of fruit. Turtwig headbutts the tree, and both Pokemon and the fruit fall out. Geodude shouts at Turtwig, who knocks away the fruit again. This causes both Pokemon to gang up on Turtwig and they all start fighting. When the dust clears, Turtwig is the one left standing. Back in the house, Ash decides to go ge back Pikachu, and to help Turtwig.

Having used force to sort out Mankey and Geodude, Turtwig gives each of the Pokemon a small pile of fruit to sort their differences out. The two Pokemon then walk off happily, with Pikachu waving goodbye to them. Turtwig then decides to have a little nap, but it is soon distrupted when Ash, Dawn and Brock appear and Ash calls out to his best friend. Turtwig snaps to alert and runs towards Ash. Before he can dodge, the small grass Pokemon slams right into Ash and knocks the young trainer back. Pikachu starts to shout at Turtwig, telling it that Ash isn't an enemy, he's its trainer. Ash then tells Turtwig that the one that was trying to steal Pikachu was Team Rocket, but they are Pikachu's friends. Turtwig looks to Pikachu, who nods at Ash's words. Turtwig is shocked, and jumps back. Ash walks over to the upset Turtwig, and thanks it for saving Pikachu from Team Rocket. Turtwig looks up, just as an injured Linoone crawls out of some bushes. Dawn checks Linoone on her Pokedex, as Ash picks up the Pokemon ad says that they need to get it to Yukino's house, and fast. When they reach the old woman's place, Brock starts to spread some green mixture onto Linoone, who responds happily. Yukino says that she's impressed by Brock's ability, and Brock says that it was her herbs that really saved the day. Watching all of this is Team Rocket, who eagerly plan their next attack from inside their Magikarp submarine which hides in the lake.

Sometime later, the group have just finished eating some of Brock's delicious stew, which Yukino and Dawn compliment him on. Ash asks if Linoone enjoyed the food, and Linoone happily nods. Turtwig then slides his bowl over to Linoone, inviting it to finish off its portion. Ash then pours some more of the stew into Turtwig's bowl, saying that it shouldn't be left out of eating. Turtwig happily smiles, and jumps at Ash. Yukino explains that it's just showing his affection for Ash, and then tells Turtwig to do the same to her. The group call out in shock, but Yukino quickly pulls out a stick which Turtwig starts to nibble on. At that however, two pink suckers fly out from the lake and grab Pikachu and Turtwig and drag them into a glass tube floating on the water surface. The Magikarp sub then bursts out from the lake and Team Rocket appear from the top of their vehicle. Yukino asks who they are, and Team Rocket recite their motto. Dawn demands that they give the two Pokemon back and they all laugh and refue, before jumping back in and going back under the surface and dragging the glass tube containing Pikachu and Turtwig with them as they escape. Ash calls out to them, and jumps into the lake and starts to swim after them.

Brock suggests to Dawn that she sends out Piplup to help Ash and Dawn does so, telling Piplup to follow the Magikarp submarine. From inside the submarine, Jessie isn't impressed as she sees that Ash has somehow managed to catch up to them by swimming. She then tells James and Meowth that they're going to go deeper underwater, so they should start peddling even more. James and Meowth nod, and the submarine along with the glass tube is pulled deep into the lake with Ash and Piplup clinging onto it. Worried that his new friend is in danger, Turtwig starts to Headbutt the glass tube in order to weaken it. Pikachu then uses Iron Tail, which creates a crack in the tube before using Thunderbolt to smash it open.

The attack shocks Ash and the three Pokemon, along with Team Rocket inside thesub. The attack also causes an explosion with sends Ash, Pikachu, Piplup and Turtwig flying out of the water and onto dry land. Yukino is glad that Ash is alright, and Dawn does the same for Piplup. The group then hear a shout from Jessie however, telling them this isn't over. Jessie, James, Meowth and Wobbuffet jump out from their sub and onto the land, and pull out two Pokeballs from their belt. Ash is ready for their challenge, and Pikachu steps forward in preperation. Jessie sends out Seviper, and James sends out Carnivine. Jessie orders Seviper to use Poison Tail, and James tells Carnivine to use Bite attack. Turtwig runs at Seviper and dodges its attack before smashing into it. It then uses Headbutt on Carnivine, and uses its mouth to swing it around and around before letting go and sending it flying. Jessie and James repeat their attack orders of Poison Tail and Bite, but both, along with Team Rocket are defeated by Pikachu's Volt Tackle on Ash's command. With Team Rocket gone, Turtwig jumps at Ah's head and bites onto it happily.

Sometime later, the group are saying their goodbyes to Yukino and Turtwig. They walk off, and Turtwig looks sadly on at them as they walk off into the sunset. Yukino senses what Turtwig is thinking, and tells the Pokemon that she'll be alright and that it should follow its dream. Turtwig stops in front of Ash, and Ash looks at it confused. Yukino then explains that Turtwig wants to come along with Ash... after a battle, of course. Ash nods and agrees, and soon Turtwig and Pikachu are standing off against eachother. Turtwig charges towards Pikachu, but is stopped when Pikachu uses Quick Attack which knocks it back. Turtwig then uses Razor Leaf, which Pikachu skillfully dodges, before getting slammed into by Turtwig.

Brock remarks that Turtwig's strategy is a smart one. Using Razor Leaf, then following up by attacking its opponent after they recover from dodging. Turtwig then runs at Pikachu again, and Dawn thinks that it's going to use its Bite attack. Ash tells Pikachu to jump, and Turtwig does so too, clmping onto Pikachu's tail. The two then fall to the ground, and Ash grits his teeth as Pikachu is unable to get Turtwig off its tail. He then notices a nearby tree, and tells Pikachu to use Iron Tail on it. Pikachu's tail lights up, and Turtwig is send smashing into the tree by the swing of the Iron Tail. Ash, seeing his chance, then tells Pikachu to use Thunderbolt which shocks Turtwig and causing enough damage for Ash to throw his Pokeball. The Pokeball wobbles and shakes on the ground, but eventually stops, signalling that Ash has caught Turtwig!

The episode ends with Ash, Dawn and Brock walking alongside a lake as the sun sets, with Ash having just caught a new partner, and a new friend

Dawn sweatdrops and nervously juggles the Pokeball and nearly dropping it as Ash seems to become more and more stressed at her. Finally getting a firm hold on the ball, she enlargens it and throws it. However, her swing is wrong and the Pokeball goes in the wrong direction and hits Ash square in the face.

Dawn apologises, but Ash isn't impressed at her novice actions and the two start to bicker with Brock and Piplup looking on helplessly. Piplup then notices the Buneary escaping into the bushes, and tries to get Dawn to notice in time but fails to do so in time as the Pokemon is long gone before Ash and Dawn snap out of teir arguement. Dawn steps forward and angrily tells Ash that it was his fault that Buneary managed to escape, and Ash snaps back saying she was just too slow. Neither of them are happy with the other, and continue to stare off as Brock continues to look on, unsure what to say to break up the arguement.

Sometime later, we find Ash, Dawn and Brock walking down a path on their way to their next destination. Things haven't cooled down however, with both Ash and Dawn turning their noses up to eachother as Brock stands sadly in the middle of them. Dawn insists that without Ash, things would have gone fine, and Ash snaps back before Brock decides to finally interrupts them in order to get their minds off arguing. Just then however, a small Budew appears and smiles cutely at them as Ash checks it on his Pokedex and Dawn gushes over how cute the little Grass Pokemon is. They wonder where Budew came from, and receive an answer from a shadowy figure from behind a shaded tree.

The figure stands up, and walks out from beneath the tree and greets the three trainers while strumming on his harp. The minstrel calmly explains that the Budew is his, and that he's pleased to meet them. He introduces himself as Naoshi, and the group tell him their names also and say that they're pleased to meet him too. Naoshi saysthat he's a minstrel, then brings their attention back his Budew which prompts Dawn to ask him for a Pokemon battle. Naoshi accepts, but Ash is worried and asks if she's ready to start Pokemon battling right now. Dawn tells him that she'll be fine and that there's no need to worry, but Ash doesn't look convinced. Naoshi then asks Dawn if she's going to be competing in the Sinnoh League, and she shakes her head and explains that she's going to be entering the Grand Festival and become a Top Coordinator.

Watching all of this from some nearby bushes is Team Rocket, who start to ponder their next Pikachu-grabbing scheme. Jessie doesn't seem as focused on that however, having overheard Dawn mention Pokemon Contests. James looks confused, and Jessie snaps at him and says that she'll be winning ribbons this time around for sure.

Having found a good place to battle, Naoshi and Dawn face off as they both select the Pokemon they are going to use. Naoshi says that he's going to use the Pokemon that's already out, Budew, as Dawn sends out her only choice, Piplup. With both Pokemon decided, Dawn stares at Budew and thinks back to her type advantages and disadvantages. Budew is a Grass Pokemon, and Piplup is a Water type, which means that she's the one at a disadvantage. Starting the battle off, Dawn orders Piplup to use a Peck attack, which is then dodged by Budew on Naoshi's command. Now in the air having jumped out of the way, Budew is ordered to use Bullet Seed. The small Grass Pokemon does so, sending down a rain of rock hard bullet seeds at Piplup. Brock then warns Dawn that Bullet Seed is a Grass type move, and that it'll cause some major damage to Piplup. Dawn is aware of this however, and tells Piplup to jump out of the way. Dawn then orders Piplup to use Bubblebeam, but attack doesn't seem to do much daage as Budew simply floats back down to the ground after receiving it.

Ash grits his teeth as he remarks on the type disadvantage that Piplup has against a Grass type, just as Naoshi tells Budew to use its finishing move, Solar Beam. Budew starts to charge up, and Dawn smiles, knowing that the attack needs a long time to focus. She then tells Piplup to use Peck to attack Budew, but just as Piplup is running towards Budew, the charging up is completed and Naoshi smiles and orders his Pokemon to fire the attack. Dawn looks on dismayed as Budew fires off a huge Solar Beam straight at Piplup, knocking it back and out for the count. Dawn says that she thought Solar Beam took a long time to charge, and Brock explains that if it's a very sunny day, the attack doesn't take as long to gather all the energy it needs. Naoshi then walks over, and says that for a first battle, was quite impressive. Dawn thanks him, and Brock remarks that his Budew is a good battler. Naoshi smiles, and then bids them arewell.

Later that day, Dawn is still a little down over the day's events. She couldn't catch a single Pokemon, and she didn't win her first battle either. She is cheered up slightly when Brock mentions that there is a Pokemon Centre nearby, which means delicious food and a warm bed. Brock then calls out his Bonsly, and tells it that they'll soon be visiting a beautiful Nurse Joy, and so must be on its best behaviour. Dawn, having never seen Brock's Bonsly, checks it on her Pokedex. Ash asks where his other Pokemon are, and Brock says that he left them at the Pewter City Gym. Dawn looks a little confused at this, and Ash explains that Brock used to a Gym Leader. Dawn is amazed by this, and says as much. The group then continue walking, and soon reach a Pokemon Centre. Inside, Brock calls out to Nurse Joy, and one walks out and greets them. Dawn is surprised to see Nurse Joy again however, not knowing that there are many scattered across the world. Nurse Joy explains that the Nurse Joy that she'd met recenly was a relation of hers, and Dawn repeats her words until Brock shoves a white book under her eyes, filled with pictures of various cute girls, including a family shot of Nurse Joys. Brock then makes his usual love-filled speech to Nurse Joy, which Dawn shocked by until Ash tells her that, for Brock, this isn't unusual. Sometime after that, Dawn decides to call her mother. Meeting Ash and Brock for the first time, she tells them to take good care of her daughter, and they say they will and Dawn becomes embarrassed. After the call is finished, Nurse Joy walks over to them, and tells Ash that he can apply for the Sinnoh League at this Centre.

Ash suddenly remembers that that is what he set out here to do, and agrees. Nurse Joy takes his Pokedex, and inserts it into her computer in order to do the registration process. The process doesn't take long, and Joy soon hands Ash his Pokedex back. Dawn asks if she can apply to enter Contests here too, and Nurse Joy explains that she'll need to get a Contes Pass at Contest Hall first. Dawn understands, and thanks her. At that, three trainers enter the Pokemon Centre, one with a Chimchar, another with a Turtwig and one with the evolved form of Piplup. Dawn runs over to the girl, and checks the Pokemon on her Pokedex while thinking that her Piplup might soon evolve. Naoshi then walks in, and greets Dawn. Nurse Joy then calls over to Naoshi, and hands him his Budew which he had handed in previously on that day. Naoshi thanks her, and then bids the group goodbye once again. Nurse Joy then explains to the group that Naoshi is currently confused as to which path of Pokemon he should follow. The path of a Pokemon trainer that competes in Gyms, or a Pokemon Coordinator. Ash smiles and says that the choice is obvious: Budew is a strong Pokemon that would be great in Gym Battles. Dawn disagrees, and says that it's cute nature and beautiful looking attacks would be more suited to Contests. The two then say that they're both going to convince Naoshi of which ath to follow, and run off after him. Brock soon follows after bidding farewell to Nurse Joy.

Later that night, the group still hasn't found the minstrel even with Starly searching in the air. Ash says that they better set up camp, and Dawn asks why they can't go back to the comfort of the Pokemon Centre. Ash tells her that it's too late to head back there, and that it wouldn't hurt to sleep out here either. Dawn is a little rejected, just as Jessie and James appear in two very obvious disguises consisting of a pair of glasses each and a jacket over their uniforms. The two invite the group into their tradtional Japanese inn which just happens to be standing just behind them, and Ash wonders why they didn't see it before. The group think it's a good idea, and agree to stay in the inn, just as Meowth in disguise appears. Just as Jessie smirks, the inn, which is actually a cardboard cut out, falls over and knocks off their equally thin disguises. The villains then recite their new motto, and once it's down, Dawn asks if they're here to try to get Pikachu again.

James says that they are, and send out his new Pokemon, Carnivine. Coming out of its ball however, the affectionate Pokemon clamps onto James' head. Dawn, seeing her chance, sends out her Piplup to use Bubblebeam, but Carnivine opens its mouth and simply eats the bubbles. James then orders his Pokemon to use Bite, but the attack and the Pokemon itself is sent flying back as Budew appears on the scene and tackles into Carnivine. Budew then uses Bullet Seed, and Team Rocket are sent blasting off again. Naoshi then walks out from the bushes, and greets the group once again. Ash thanks him for getting rid of Team Rocket, Naoshi says that it was his pleasure.

The whole group then soon set up camp, and Naoshi explains to the group his problem... he has no idea whether to do Gyms or Contests. Ash says that his Budew is a good Pokemon for battling, and so should do Gyms. Dawn disagrees, and insists that he do Contests with his cute Pokemon. Naoshi ponders on this for a moment, before a sound interruptss them. The sound is not a singular one however, but more the sounds of the Pokemon of the woods under the full moon which starts to sound almost like music. Naoshi smiles at the beautiful music being made by nature, as Dawn and Ash apologise to eachother for arguing before. Ash then explains what originally inspired him, and tells the story of when he saw Ho-oh. Dawn then says that she had a similar experience, when she saw a mysterious Pokemon above the lake when she became a Pokemon trainer. Naoshi then starts to strum on his harp, and says that it is music that inspires him. Ash then asks if Naoshi would have a Pokemon Battle with him, and he agrees. The net day, the two trainers stand off against eachother. Ash has chosen Pikachu, and Naoshi has chosen Budew. Ash starts things off by telling Pikachu to use Quick Attack. Naoshi tells Budew to use Bullet Seed, but Pikachu dodges and Pikachu's Quick Attack hits home and sends Budew back.

Naoshi then smiles however, and calmly tells his Pokemon to use Mega Drain. Budew does so, firing off a large stream of green energy which takes hold of Pikachu and sucks energy out of it. Pikachu falls back down to the ground, and Budew absorbs the energy taken from Pikachu, healing itself. Pikachu gets back up, and Ash tells it to use Thunderbolt. Pikachu proves too fast for Budew, and Budew is pushed back by the sheer force of Pikachu's electric attack. Just then however, Budew begins to glow and Dawn wonders what is going on. Brock says that Budew is evolving, and the light around Budew fades and reveals its evolved form, Roselia. Naoshi, very happy at his Pokemon evolving, tells Roselia to use Sunny Day to makethe sunlight stronger. He then tells it to use Solar Beam, which with the bright sun, powers up instantly. Roselia fires off the attack, but Pikachu dodges but it sent flying up into the air by the force of the attack. Ash then orders Pikachu to use Iron Tail, which knocks Roselia out. Naoshi thanks Roselia for putting up a great fight, and calls it back to its Pokeball for a good long rest. Naoshi then thanks both Ash and Dawn, and they ask if he's made his decision yet. Naoshi says that he has, and says that he's going to both Gyms and Contests.

The episode ends with Ash, Dawn and Brock heading on their way having said goodbye to Naoshi.

Pokemon Episode 471: When Pokémon Worlds Collide!

Diamond and Pearl Episode 3

Scenario:
The episode begins with Ash and Brock still in their hunt for Pikachu on Route 202, just after Ash caught his new Pokemon Starly. Dawn is also running Route 202, after being told that the trainer that Pikachu belongs to is trying to find her. Just they continue their search, Ash's new Starly stops and brings their attention to something it's just spotted. Ash wonders if it could be Pikachu, as a huge electric attack is seen on the horizon. Brock remarks that the power of the attack looks incredibly strong, and Ash is sure that it's Pikachu.

Elsewhere, we find that the attack is not coming from Pikachu at all, but instead an Elekid standing aside a rather mean looking trainer, wearing blue and with brown hair. The attacks are being aimed at several other Starly, which all are trying to get away from Elekid's powerful electric blasts. At that, the boy, Paul, throws a Pokeball at one of Starly, and is surprised when the ball doesn't work and the bird simply shrugs it off. Ash then appears on the scene, calling out to his Starly, the one Paul just tried to capture. Paul isn't impressed, and tells Ash that he should keep a closer eye on his Pokemon. Ash apologises, as Brock runs up beside him and remarks on the strong looking Elekid at Paul's side. Ash asks the boy if he's seen his Pikachu, and Paul says that he hasn't... the only Pokemon he's interested in at the moment is Starly. However, the only Starly he's interested in is one that knows the attack Aerial Ace. Ash is surprised at this, and asks what he means. At that, Paul puls out three Pokeballs and throws them into the air, and three Starly pop out and flutter down beside Elekid. He then pulls out his Pokedex and examines the three Pokemon to find out which ones know Aerial Ace. After the Pokedex has finished examining them, he finds that only one knows the attack, and then calls them all back to their Pokeballs and only puts the one knowing Aerial Ace to his belt.

He then holds the other two in his hands, and tells them that they just aren't good enough for his needs and that he's going to release them. Ash is surprised and angry at his actions, and tells him that he shouldn't go around catching Pokemon and releasing them just because it doesn't meet his expectations... such a thing is wrong, after all. Paul smirks and says that that is his business, which only angers Ash even more. However, he then invites Ash for a Pokemon battle, and Ash accepts. Ash then asks what the rules for the battle will be, and Paul tells him that they'll both use three Pokemon. Ash takes a sep back at this, realising that without Pikachu, he only has two Pokemon. Ash bashfully tells him that he only has two Pokemon, and Paul becomes annoyed and calls for Elekid to follow him as he walks off. Ash grits his teeth at what justg happened, before another powerful electric attack is seen just over the trees. Brock says that must be Pikachu judging by the power, and Ash agrees and the two run off to find the source.

Back with Dawn and Pikachu, we find Pikachu fighting against a huge Team Rocket mecha, but struggling due to the mecha's strong armor. The three Team Rocket members laugh from inside the mecha and tells Dawn and Pikachu that such attacks are useless against them and that they should just give up. Dawn asks what they even want with Pikachu, and Jessie smirks and tells her that such a strong Pikachu is perfect for Team Rocket's success. Meowth then fires out the mecha's long robotic arms to grab Pikachu, and Dawn tries to stop them by ordering Piplup to use Bubblebeam. The attack fails however, and the mecha's arms get Pikachu and pull it towards the mecha. Piplup uses Bubblebeam again, and James laughs at the small pengiun Pokemon as the attack fails once again. Piplup then, without order, runs towards the mecha and tries to smash it open with its beak, before being swatted away by the large metal hand. Jessie then laughs, and starts to try to frighten Dawn by waving the huge robot hands in fron of her and Piplup.

At that however, Ash and Brock appear on the scene and Ash orders Aipom to use Swift and Starly to use Gust. Everyone, including Team Rocket is shocked to see Ash, and Jessie uses the metal hands of the mecha to knock Ash down. Brock tells Ash to be careful, and Ash says he won't stop until he gets Pikachu back. Team Rocket then come out of the mecha on a large raising platform, and proceed to recite a brand new motto before making the mecha pose with them at the end. James then presses a switch on a remote, which sends several of the mecha's hands speeding towards Ash. Ash dodges, rebounds on a tree before swinging off it to land on one of the metal arms and climbing up. James tries to make Ash fall off, but while doing so, makes the mecha punch itself. At that moment, the whole thing starts to malfuction and break down, releasing black smoke and electric shocks from around the body. Brock tells everyone to get down, just as the mecha explodes and sends Team Rocket blasting off again

When the smoke clears, Dawn and Brock get up and look at the remains of the destroyed mecha. Brock calls out to them, as does Dawn just as Ash emerges from the rubble along with Pikachu. The two hug, and Pikachu greets Aipom who runs over, and Starly as Ash introduces the two Pokemon to eachother. Dawn is happy that Pikachu was able to find its trainer, as Ash walks over to her and tells her that he's Ash, from Pallet Town. Brock then slides over and eagerly tells Dawn that his name is Brock. Dawn says that she's pleased to meet them, and then introduces her partner Piplup. Ash checks the Pokemon on his Pokedex, and asks if Piplup is alright after battling against Team Rocket's mecha. Dawn says that Piplup is alright, and Piplup itself agrees... before spinning around and falling down in sheer equastion. Brock drops down to the ground and takes Piplup into his arms, before spraying Piplup with a Potion. Dawn apologises for putting Piplup through such an ordeal, but Piplup doesn't seemto mind and smiles at her. Brock then offers to do the same for Pikachu, and Ash thanks him.

Sometime later, we find the three trainers at a phone box making a video call to Professor Nanakamondo. Ash and Dawn explain what happened, and the Professor tells them that he's happy that everything worked out okay. He then tells Ash that he recently recieved a call from his mother, and that Ash should come back to his lab straight away.Ash wonders what it could have been about, but agrees to visit him anyway. Elsewhere however, Paul and Elekid look over the remains of the Team Rocket mecha.

Back on the road, Brock is telling Dawn that he's a Pokemon Breeder, and Dawn tells him that that's really cool. Just then, the Officer Jenny which helped Ash from before rides up on her motorbike and greets Ash. Ash greets her back, as does Brock who grabs her arm and proclaims his love for her beauty. Sometime after that, Ash, Dawn and Brock have made it back to Professor Nanakamondo's lab, where the Professor presents Ash with a package that he recieved from Ash's mother. Upon opening it, he finds a whole new outfit and backpack for him that his mother made herself. He then puts it on, and calls her to thank her for sending him such an awesome and needed gift. He then tells her that he's going to be entering the Sinnoh League, and Delia wishes him luck. She then tells Ash to call Professor Oak to let him know if Pikachu is alright, and Ash looks guilty as he forgot all about it. He then calls Professor Oak as asked, nd tells him that he got Pikachu back, and it was all thanks to Dawn.

Dawn intrduces herself, and Oak notes that she must be a starting trainer, and wishes her luck on her journey. Dawn thanks him, as Nanakamondo walks up behind them and the two Professors exchange greetings. The three trainers walk off as the two Professors talk, and Ash explains to Dawn that he's going to enter the Sinnoh League, as Brock pulls out a handbook which explains where all the Gyms in Sinnoh are. Dawn then tells him that her dream is to be a Top Coordinator, and enter Contests. Ash clicks his fingers, and suggests that maybe Dawn come with them. Brock agrees, as Aipom, Starly and Piplup walk over to them. Ash and Dawn call their Pokemon back, and Dawn asks why he didn't call Pikachu back to a ball too. Ash tells her that Pikachu never goes inside a Pokeball as it hates it and so travels outside with him.

The three trainers plus Nanakamondo then walk outside the lab, and Ash is shocked when he sees Paul leaning on a tree in front of the lab. Paul introduces himself , and asks Ash if he's ready for a Pokemon Battle yet. Ash smiles and looks over to Pikachu and tells Paul that he is, before introducing himself as Ash from Pallet Town, with a wish to be a Pokemon Master. The two square off, and Paul starts the trash talk, which angers Ash who sends out Starly as his first Pokemon. Paul then sends out his own Starly, and Brock begins the battle. Ash orders Starly to use Quick Attack, which Paul's dodges. Paul's Starly then smashes into Ash's, and Ash then tells his own to use Aerial Ace. Paul counters by ordering Double Team, which generates several clone images of Starly. Ash's Starly is confused, and Paul dives behind it and knocks into it once again, sending Starly down to the ground and knocked out. Ash calls his bird back, and tells it that it did great and deserves a good rest. Shiji does the same, but clearly isn't impressed by Starly's performance despite its victory. Ash then sends out Aipom, and Paul sends out his own monkey, Chimchar. Ash checks Chimchar on his Pokedex, before telling Aipom to use Swift attack. Paul counters by ordering Ember, and the two attacks collide and explode on contact.

Ash then tells Aipom to use Focus Punch, but its focusing is stopped when Paul tells Chimchar to use Flame Wheel to damage and cancel the attack out. Dawn asks what happened, and Nanakamondo explains that Focus Punch needs time to focus before attacking... however, if the user is attacked, the attack stops powering up. Ash then orders Aipom to use Double Team, and Paul tells Chimchar to use Ember. The Ember's flames spread out and destroy all of Aipom's clones, and the real Aipom is then subjected to a several swipes from Chimchar's claws. Aipom then jumps back, and Ash tells it to use Focus Punch again. Paul repeats his call for Flame Wheel, hoping to stop the attack once moe. Ash tells Aipom to jump in the air just as Chimchar is about to hit it, which allows the attack time to charge up. Ash then shouts for Aipom to use the attack, which it does, sending Aipom's large tail crashing down on Chimchar's head. At that, the fire monkey Pokemon is knocked out, and the two trainers both recall their Pokemon.

Ash kneels down and tells Pikachu that it is up next, as Paul sends out his electric Pokemon, Elekid. Ash starts things off by ordering Pikachu to use Thunderbolt, but Elekid simply absorbs the attack. Now it's Paul's turn, as he tells Elekid to use Thunder. Elekid revolves its arms and fires off a huge electric bolt at Pikachu, who takes the attack also without taking too much damage. Ash then tells Pikachu to use its most powerful attack, Volt Tackle. Paul appears to have been predicting this, and tells Elekid to use Protect to stop the attack. Pikachu is sent flying back, and Dawn asks why Pikachu took damage. Nanakamondo explains that while Volt Tackle is a deadly attack against enemy Pokemon, it can also damage the user and inflict recoil damage to whoever is using it.

Pikachu gets up however, and Ash tells it to use Iron Tail. Pikachu jumps towards Elekid, and the two exchange blows for some time, before Elekid manages to land a Thunderpunch attack. However, the strain of the battle takes its oll on both Pokemon, and Pikachu and Elekid fall down at the same time, defeated. Brock announces that the battle was a tie, and that overall, the whole 3 against 3 battle was also a tie, with both trainers with One Win, One Loss and One Draw. Ash takes Pikachu into his arms, as Paul walks over to him. Paul looks down at Ash, before pulling a Pokeball from his belt and releasing his last remaining Starly. Ash asks what he did that for, and Paul tells him that such a weak Pokemon is of no interest to him... he's only looking for strong Pokemon. He then bows to Professor Nanakamondo, before walking off. Ash stares at the arrogant trainer, gritting his teeth at such disrepect to Pokemon.

The episode ends with Ash and Pikachu both staring down at what could be their newest rival.
