Pokemon Episode 82: Friends to the End

Scenario:
Ash is still upset that he lost his last match. He's been lying in his bed ever since and his friends, mother, and Professor Oak are getting worried. Misty comments that he should be happy that he made it as far as he did and goes in to try to cheer him up. She offers to get something to eat or take a walk, but he refuses. She tells him that she's only trying to help. They start to argue about how good a trainer Ash really is when Professor Oak comes in. He tells Ash that he should have trained Charizard better. Misty and Ash start to argue again and Pikachu, fed up with it all, shocks everyone in the room.
Richie's next battle is about to begin. He sits in a locker room and talks to his Pokémon. The door opens and in walks Ash, Misty, and Brock. They wish him luck and the battle begins. Both trainers are fairly equally matched and they are soon both down to their last Pokémon. Richie's opponent, Assumpta, sends out Ivysaur and Richie sends out Sparky. As soon as he pops out, Sparky gets a beating by Ivysaur. None of his Thundershocks are connecting. Ivysaur jumps into the air and unleashes a Solar Beam, hurling Sparky to the ground. Just as he gets up, he is hit by Ivysaur's Tackle. He struggles to get up again, but it's no use. Assumpta wins. Richie runs up to his Pikachu and makes sure he's OK. In the stands, Ash and his friends are visibly disappointed.
Later, Ash joins Richie near a lake. As their Pikachu play, they talk about their losses. Richie says that he would've trained harder if he'd known how tough the competition would be. He then comments on how losing is good for you, and Ash realizes how much of a baby he was. He and Richie promise to become Pokémon Masters no matter what.
Suddenly, both Pikachu fall into a hole. Richie and Ash run over to see what happened, and they too fall into a hole. Team Rocket appear at the surface and laugh at them. They say their motto and muse over the fact that nothing beats a hole as a trap. Ash tries to climb up the side, but slips down. When he lands, the bottom falls out and he and Richie plummet another few feet. Team Rocket use a cage at the end of a fishing pole and pull both Pikachu out of the other hole. They try to shock them, but James tells them that the bars absorb electricity. They start to make their getaway when Ash and Richie rise out of the other hole, clinging to their flying Pokémon.
Ash sends out Bulbasaur, who tries to grab the cage with his vines. James pulls it out of the way and Jessie sends Weezing out with a Smog attack. Pidgeotto blows the gas back at Team Rocket with Gust and Richie sends out Zippo. After Bulbasaur frees Pikachu and Sparky with a Razor Leaf, Zippo ignites the gas with a Flamethrower.
As Team Rocket run around in pain, Ash has Pikachu and Sparky recharge the cage, he sends out Squirtle who extinguishes Team Rocket with Water Gun. The Pikachu then toss the cage into their hands where it releases it's energy, blasting Team Rocket into the air.
As the sun sets, Ash and Richie congratulate each other. Brock and Misty run up and invite him and Richie to dinner, after which they'll go to the closing ceremonies. Ash remembers about these ceremonies, where all the trainers get to march into Indigo Stadium again and get a League badge. They all hurry off with their Pokémon soon behind.
Later that night, the closing ceremonies begin. Everyone marches back in, waving. President Goodshow gives each and every one of them the special badge. As this is going on, however, Team Rocket is digging a hole outside. They aim to dig under the field and steal the Pokémon.
Back inside, the top three trainers wave from the stage amid the cheers of the crowd. Team Rocket continues to dig as fireworks go off in the sky. Meowth listens at the ground above and tells Jessie and James to dig up. Unfortunately for them, a huge bomb falls through. It goes off and Team Rocket is blasted off again.
The next morning, all is quiet. Ash and Richie sit in the stands talking. Their Pikachu come running up to them and are warmly greeted. After Ash reminds him of their promise, Richie sets off. Ash remembers the highlights of the League games, all from when he saw Moltres at the opening ceremonies to when he lost to Richie. He gazes at the sky and he hears Misty's voice. He looks over and sees his friends, mom, and Professor Oak. Smiling he asks Pikachu if he's ready to go back to Pallet Town. He runs over to his friends. His first adventure has now ended, but his next one is just about to begin.

Pokemon Episode 81: Friend or Foe Alike

Scenario:
The night before his next battle, Ash sits by the window and thinks of how he has to fight his newest best friend, Richie. Misty and Brock peer at a computer screen, and Misty calls him over. She tells him that she has loaded up the League database, and calls up Richie's file. They are all astounded to find out that he won all four of his battles without losing a single Pokémon. He also did it using only three Pokémon: a Pikachu (Sparky), a Butterfree (Happy), and a Charmander (Zippo). Misty notes that it all boils down to who's the better trainer, as Ash uses the same types. Brock tells Ash that battling against Richie will be hard, but Ash is confident in himself.
The next day, Richie picks up his Pokémon from the Pokémon Center. Ash walks in, and they see each other. They promise to make their battle the best one ever, and Richie runs off. Nurse Joy gives him his Pokémon and tells him that he's lucky that he gets to battle a friend. Either way, she says, Ash can be happy that either he or Richie won. Outside, Team Rocket peer through a window. Jessie notes that she never had that many friends when she was a girl and James concludes that it was her personality, only to be thwacked over the head with the infamous fan.
Later that day, the phone rings in Ash's place of residence. Misty picks it up and Richie's voice comes across the line. After insulting Misty, he asks for Ash, and she is all to happy to oblige. As it turns out, it's not Richie, but it's Jessie using a voice synthesizer. She tells Ash in Richie's voice to bring Pikachu outside to him, as (s)he needs to tell him something. Ash hangs up and, after a warning from Brock not to be long, leaves.
He gets to the clearing where Richie told him to meet, and sees his figure in the shadows. Just after he starts talking to him, a net drops from the tree covering him and Pikachu. Jessie, who was holding a Richie puppet stands up, and she and James do their motto. Ash struggles in the net, and Jessie and James congratulate each other on a job well done. Ash tells them that he needs to get to his match, but they throw him into the back of a truck and drive off.
Back at the house, Brock and Misty start to worry that he hasn't come back. Misty suggests that he went to Indigo Stadium, and Brock hopes aloud that this is the case. Meanwhile, the cab of Team Rocket's truck is filling with water thanks to Ash's Squirtle. Meowth jumps on James's face and since he can't see, they crash. Ash and Pikachu jump out and start to run back down the road toward the stadium. After a while, Team Rocket shows up again, rolling along on an axle of the truck. Ash jumps aside, and they careen into the side of the road. Ash sends out Bulbasaur, who Vine Whips them. Pikachu shocks them and they fall over. Ash continues on.
After another few minutes, Team Rocket shows up again, this time riding bicycles. James sends out Weezing, who fills the air around Ash with smog. He then tells Ash that he can either hand over Pikachu or miss his match. Ash remembers his promise with Richie, and notices the bikes sitting nearby. Jessie and James stare at the cloud, waiting for Ash's decision. He suddenly comes out riding one of the bikes. They yell at him to give it back, and he replies that he's only "borrowing it." Why does THAT sound familiar?
Meanwhile, back at the stadium, everybody is waiting for Ash to show up. Richie has long since arrived, and the announcer tells the crowd that if Ash doesn't show up soon, the match will go to him. In the stands, Professor Oak calms Mrs. Ketchum, telling her that Ash has an excellent knack for getting out of trouble. Misty runs onto the field and yells at Richie. She tells him her suspicions that Richie told Ash not to show up, and reminds him of what he said on the phone to her. Richie tells her that he never called, and Misty gets worried again.
It's getting dark, and Ash is still a ways away from the stadium. As he pedals along, Team Rocket's balloon floats overhead and grabs him and the bike and hoists him into the air. Ash sends out Pidgeotto, and Pikachu jumps onto his back. Pidgeotto brings Pikachu up to the balloon, and he shocks Team Rocket. The basket breaks, and they fall into the forest below. Pidgeotto then grabs the frame of the basket, and pulls them all in the direction of the stadium.
The stadium lights turn on as the referee approaches Richie to inform him that he has won. Richie begs him to give Ash more time, telling him about their promise and how he knows Ash will show up. The referee agrees to wait, but only ten minutes longer. Everyone notes how nice Richie is and they wait for Ash some more. The ten minutes is quickly over, and Ash has still yet to show up. The referee approaches Richie once again and is about to announce him as the winner when the balloon floats into the stadium. Ash apologizes for being late, and Pidgeotto crashes to the ground. After Ash tells his bird to rest, Ash and Richie start their match amid the cheers of the crowd.
Richie sends out his first Pokémon, Happy, and Ash sends out Squirtle. After exchanging blows, Happy succeeds in putting Squirtle to sleep with Sleep Powder. Squirtle is unable to wake up, and the referee declares Happy to be the winner of that round. Ash thinks about what Pokémon to send out next, and Pikachu jumps out, lunging onto Happy. Ash is surprised, as he though Pikachu was too tired. Happy tries to get Pikachu off by flying into the air, but Pikachu shocks him and they both fall to the ground. Pikachu wins. Richie withdraws Happy and sends out Zippo. Pikachu narrowly avoids several of Zippo's Flamethrower attacks, but is sent flying by a Tackle. He tries to get up, but can't. Zippo wins, and Ash is down to his last Pokémon.
Ash knows that Bulbasaur won't work, and he only has one other choice: Charizard. With all the times Charizard has disobeyed Ash in his mind, he reluctantly sends him out. Charmander uses another Flamethrower, which Charizard easily dodges. Charizard then lets loose a continuous blast of fire, which Charmander runs around to get away from. Rather than have Charmander severely injured, Richie withdraws him, losing the round. He then sends out Sparky. Charizard stomps the ground a few times, making Sparky fall over. He then flaps his giant wings and Sparky tumbles end over end. Sparky jumps up, and runs at Charizard, but he's laid down and appears to be taking a nap. Ash pleads with him, but he refuses to get up. In the stands Professor Oak tells Mrs. Ketchum that Charizard must have thought of Charmander as a worthy opponent, but doesn't want to bother with a Pikachu.
Since Charizard refuses to battle, the referee gives the victory to Richie. Ash falls to his knees as he returns Charizard. Richie comes up to him and they shake hands. The crowd cheers at this display of continued friendship, and Ash tells Richie to win his next battle for him. Ash's adventure in the Pokémon League may have ended, but his dream still lives on.

Pokemon Episode 80: A Friend In Deed

Scenario:
Now that Ash has won his fourth battle, he is quite hungry. He and Misty and Brock are going back to their home in the Pokémon League Village for lunch. Once they get there, they see Mrs. Ketchum and Professor Oak standing there. Mrs. Ketchum tells the group that she wants to make them lunch, but Ash tells her that there isn't a stove in the apartment. That's ok, for she takes them all to a local restaurant, where she enters the kitchen (much to the chagrin of the chefs). Misty is worried that the food will turn out rather unappetizing, but they were unfounded, as it's all very good. They eagerly eat their fill.
After finishing, they enter the elevator to go down the lobby and exit. The doors are about to close when a young boy about Ash's age runs up, asking them to hold it. He boards, and they descend. The boy notices Pikachu standing near Ash and asks them whose he is. Ash tells him that he's his, and the boy reaches out to pet Pikachu. Ash warns him to be careful, but Pikachu is quite comfortable with it. Apparently, the boy knows the right way to pet a Pikachu.
Suddenly, the lights in the elevator shut off and the elevator stops. Everyone is worried, and Professor Oak says that it must be a power outage. Brock presses the emergency call button and tries to send a message, but to no avail. It's looking grim, until everyone notices the boy working on the wires behind a panel. He asks to borrow Pikachu to use his Thundershock. Ash holds him up, and the boy touches to wires to his cheeks. Pikachu uses his Thundershock, and the elevator starts up again. As they de-board in the lobby, they thank the boy, who introduces himself as Richie.
They walk out the door and a van drives by, telling everyone to come the Pokémon Pavilion to get their Pokéballs officially inspected. They also say that failure to do so will result in their disqualification in the match. Unbeknownst to the trainers, however, Jessie and James are the ones inside the van making the message. They laugh to themselves, as they think they've finally come up with a fail-proof plan.
Ash and Richie separate, but when Ash gets to the pavilion, he is surprised to find Richie there as well. Jessie and James exit the van and pull out a large sack. They ask all the trainers to put their Pokéballs in the bag. They approach Ash and Richie, and they put their balls in as well. Jessie bends down and picks up Pikachu, but gets shocked. She shoves him into the bag, and James accidentally calls her by name. Ash instantly recognizes them, as does Richie by what he's heard. Jessie and James throw off their disguises and do their motto. They then get into the van and start to drive off. Ash dashes off in hot pursuit, but cannot catch up. He stops as he notices it drive by down the hill and Richie catches up to him. Ash starts to run down the hill, but Richie dives onto him before he dashes of the edge of a cliff. Ash pushes Richie off of him, angry that he stopped him. Richie tells him that he would've killed himself if he had continued off of the cliff. Ash reluctantly follows his lead of climbing down the cliff face.
As Team Rocket drive along, they congratulate each other. Jessie says that they must have around hundred Pokémon. They all start in on a rendition of "100 Bottles of Beer on the Wall" when Ash and Richie jump out of the woods into the path of the van. James swerves, and they go barreling down the hill. Once they get down, they drive along the middle of a creek. Ash and Richie follow along the ground, but cannot catch up. After a few hours, they decide to stop for the night. As they lie in their sleeping bags, they talk about what they want to be, both trying to outdo each other in what type of Pokémon master they're going to be (World's Greatest Master, Planet's Greatest Master, Galaxy's Greatest Master, Universe's Greatest Master). After this, Richie points out a few constellations in the shape of Pokémon. They look at the stars for a while, then fall asleep. Meanwhile, Team Rocket has also stopped, and are partying the night away. They continue to congratulate each other as they eat.
Early the next morning, Ash and Richie set off along the creek once again. After a few minutes of walking, they notice tire tracks coming out of the water and into the forest. They find Team Rocket's campsite and, as Jessie and James are still asleep, tiptoe over to the van. They open the door and see the sack with the Pokéballs inside. No sooner has Ash freed Pikachu than Jessie and James poke their heads through the door and laugh at them. They slam the door shut, climb into the cab, and start the engine. As they drive along, Ash roots through the bag, trying in vain to find his Pokéballs. Richie finds his with ease, as he puts little star stickers on them. Ash tries a few balls, but neither are his. Pikachu sniffs at one and points to it, alerting Ash with a loud "Pika!" Ash opens it up, and out pops Bulbasaur. He tries to Tackle and use Razor Leaf on the wall of the cab, but to no avail. Richie sends out his Charmander, Zippo, who Slashes the wall to pieces.
Jessie jumps out of her seat and tells James to take care of them. "But I'm driving!" James whines, and Jessie sighs, sending out Arbok. Pikachu tries to Thunderbolt the large snake, but James swerves the van, making Pikachu fall over.
Richie suddenly gets an idea, and sends out his Pikachu, Sparky. Both Sparky and Pikachu use Agility, and run circles around Arbok, confusing him. Then, both let loose a Thunderbolt attack, which blows the van apart (except for the wheels) and blasts Team Rocket into the air. Richie and Ash have saved the Pokémon, but now must save themselves. What's left of the van is driving straight towards a curve in the cliff, and they boys need to figure out what to do. Richie sends out Happy, his Butterfree, and Ash (having found all his Pokémon by now) sends out Pidgeotto. Just as the van flies off the edge of the cliff, Ash and Richie jump off, clinging to their Pokémon. They head towards a clearing, but are descending too fast, so Richie tells Ash to have Pidgeotto use Whirlwind and aim it towards the ground. Both Pidgeotto and Happy do this, and both boys land safely.
A few seconds later, a fleet of jeeps, each driven by an Officer Jenny, drive up, with Ash's friends in the lead. Everyone is happy to see that the Pokémon are safe, and gladly take theirs back. Later, Ash chooses whom he is going to fight in the fifth round. He dips a rod into a pond, and soon catches a Magikarp with "A-3" printed on its side. The receptionist types it in, and the person Ash will be battling with shows up on the screen. Ash is horrified to see that his next opponent is his newest friend, Richie. What will become of this

Pokemon Episode 79: Fourth Round Rumble

Scenario:
Once again, it's a capacity crowd cheering in anticipation as a fourth round winner of the Pokemon League Competition is about to be decided. But this time our heroes are in the stands as spectators, waiting to see if Gary will emerge victorious. Gary and his opponent are both down to one Pokemon left. His opponent sends out Golem, and Gary sends out Nidoking. Gary orders Nidoking to do a horn attack, but Golem blocks it and comes back with a seismic toss. The seismic toss knocks-out Gary's Nidoking, and Gary loses the match.
Ash is really surprised when he sees Gary lose. After the match, Ash walks up to Gary, and Gary says "That trainer was lucky that I got distracted by all the girls cheering for me. They're disappointed, but you will get over it, won't you girls?" All Gary's cheerers start crying, and Gary says "Later Ash". Ash said to Pikachu "Can you believe Gary got knocked out! I thought he would make it through at least four rounds! I dunno Pikachu. Do you think we should quit while we are ahead?" Then Brock walks up to Ash and says, "Listen, you're a great trainer, and as long as I'm around, you're not even going to think about quitting, okay? Pikachu and I believe in you, don't we Pikachu?" Pikachu happily agrees. Misty walks up too, and reminds Ash that his fourth round match is starting any minute now.
Ash and Pikachu appear on the grass field, but this time he doesn't let Brock and Misty coach with him, so he can prove he can win by himself. His opponent, Janet, walks out on red carpet looking extremely proud. Ash sends out Bulbasaur, and Janet sends out Beedrill. Janet orders Beedrill to tackle Bulbasaur, but Bulbasaur dodges the attack. Bulbasaur is ordered to do a razor leaf attack, and Beedrill is ordered to counter-attack it with its twin-needle. Bulbasaur dodges the twin-needle, and then Beedrill unleashes a poison sting. Bulbasaur dodges the poison sting too. Misty says, "I just hope Janet doesn't have any more Pokemon like that Beedrill" and Brock says, "I just hope she doesn't have a boyfriend". Misty screams back at Brock "Well there's no way that boyfriend's gonna be you Mister!!!" Then Bulbasaur sends out a leech seed, which hits Beedrill and drains all its energy. Then Bulbasaur finishes Beedrill off with a tackle attack.
Janet sends out a Scyther against Bulbasaur. Scyther does a slash attack, but Bulbasaur dodges it. Then Scyther does a quick attack, which Bulbasaur is hit by. Then Bulbasaur does a vine-whip, but Scyther slices it with it's quick attack, and then does a double team, confusing Bulbasaur and Ash. Bulbasaur tries a vine whip on 2 of the 3 Scythers (from the double team) but neither of them are the real one. Scyther hits Bulbasaur a few times, and then Scyther does another double team. Scyther hits Bulbasaur, but then Ash says "Use your vine-whip on all 3!" This defeats the Scyther.
Janet now sends out a puny-looking Bellsprout. Ash tells Bulbasaur to do a tackle, but Bellsprout absorbs the energy from the attack, and unleashes the attack's power back on Bulbasaur. This happens a few times, and knocks out Bulbasaur. Ash then sends out Pikachu, and orders it to do a Thundershock. But Bellsprout dodges the attack, and then sends out a double-edged razor leaf. Pikachu then does a thunderbolt, but it doesn't effect Bellsprout. Janet says "Bellsprout's legs are like a pair of teeny-tiny lightning rods. Those electric attacks just won't work Ash." Pikachu now tries to do some fist fighting and kick-boxing, but Bellsprout puts its leg on Pikachu, and stuns him.
Pikachu is fainted now, so he starts thinking deeply. To much surprise, he sends out his Muk that he got back from Professor Oak. Bellsprout does a flying-mud kick, but Muk absorbs Bellsprout's attack's energy, and then unleashes a body slam back on it, and knocks Bellsprout out. Muk and Ash celebrate, and smothers Ash with affection. Janet says "I'm very proud of the way you battled Bellsprout. Let's go home". Misty tells Ash afterwards, "You didn't do too bad out there! But if it wasn't for Muk, you'd be out of luck!" Then Muk gives Misty a big hug.
And so, with a little advanced strategy, Ash got Bellsprout 'stuck in the Muk' and won his fourth round match. Now, his dreams are burning as brightly as the flame atop Indigo Stadium. But, does Ash have what it takes to be a Pokemon Master?

Pokemon Episode 78: Fire and Ice

Scenario:
The show begins with Ash at the Rock Field, and both he and his opponent are down to one Pokémon. His opponent sends out Nidorino and he sends out Squirtle. Nidorino uses Tackle, but Squirtle Withdraws into his shell just in time. Nidorino crashes through the rock and Squirtle starts to roll around with Nidorino chasing him. When Squirtle rolls up a curved rock and into the air, he pulls out of his shell and unleashes a Water Gun, slamming Nidorino into a rock. He then slams into Nidorino with a Skull Bash, knocking him out. Ash has won his second match. Gary, in the stands, tells himself that Ash is becoming a bit too cocky. He looks forward to when they'll be able to battle and walks out with his cheerleaders soon behind. Outside, Team Rocket hides in a set of trash cans. They're upset about their tough luck, but James comes up with an idea.
Later that evening, Misty comes into the place that they are staying to find Brock alone with Ash's Pokémon. She asks him where he is, and he tells her that he went to get something to eat. Misty is surprised, as he didn't even take his Pokémon to the Pokémon Center. Brock tells her that he said he was starving, but Misty still feels that he should've brought his Pokémon with him. She sets down Togepi who starts to eat as well.
Outside in the streets, Ash and Pikachu talk about hungry they are. They're looking for a restaurant Ash saw earlier, but can't find it. As they walk, they pass a movie showing Pokémon in Love and see a parade. As they watch it, Brock and Misty show up with his Pokémon. Misty yells at him, but he says that he was just getting something to eat. Misty tells him to take care of his Pokémon first and stuff his "selfish little face" later. As they walk, Ash tells his friends that he's going to be fighting at the Ice Field next. He tells them he plans to use Squirtle and Kingler, and they reach the center. Unfortunately, it's extremely crowded and the Joy there tells them all to go elsewhere. Brock recognizes her as the one from Pewter City and Ash turns to see the restaurant he was looking for. He runs inside despite Misty's yells for him to take care of his Pokémon.
Inside, Ash finds a huge buffet full of things to eat. Ash suddenly realizes that he doesn't have any money and starts to sob. A waitress approaches, and gives him a plate. She tells him that he can eat for free and Ash, thinking that she was one of his fans, eagerly fills it. Misty comes in and warns him not to eat too much. Ash tells her that he got it all for free from one of his fans, but she informs him that all trainers get to eat for free as she sets Togepi on the seat. As they talk, Togepi jumps down and starts tugging on a tablecloth. Pikachu notices a basket of silverware on the edge of the table and jumps out to save Togepi from getting hurt. Togepi walks out of the way just in time, but unfortunately for Pikachu, the forks and knives clatter down about him. Fortunately, he isn't hurt. Misty tells Togepi not to do anything dangerous like that and Pikachu sighs. Suddenly, Ash realizes that Brock is nowhere to be seen. They go outside to look for him.
Once outside, they see a lot of Officer Jennys and Nurse Joys running around. After a few minutes, they notice Brock running around chasing them. They leave him and find another Pokémon Center, but it's even more crowded than the first. They wait in line for a few minutes and Ash notices a hand beckoning them from around the corner. Once they get over there, a blue-haired nurse tells them that she knows of a Pokémon Center that doesn't have any lines. She then mentions that it even has its own Nurse Joy and Brock pops up from nowhere, frightening them all.
The nurse leads them to an odd looking building, and the nurse tells them that it's just a temporary location for the League. They go inside and see smiling Nurse Joy behind the counter. Ash gives Pikachu to the blue-haired nurse and puts his Pokéballs in a tray to give to Joy. He is about to do so when Brock notes that he isn't having the reaction he normally does when he sees a Joy. He wonders if he's in a Joy overload, but Ash and Misty think that the "trouble" is that he wasn't "prepared" to see her. At this Joy and the other nurse whip off their costumes to reveal themselves as Jessie and James. The say their motto and the building falls apart, revealing the balloon. Jessie cackles and they pull out Pikachu in a big jar. Brock sends out Onix, who grabs the balloon in his mouth. He lowers the balloon and Ash grabs Pikachu. He then lifts them back up and flings them into the air. Ash frees Pikachu and hugs him. They hear an announcement over the P.A. System that Pokémon Centers are accepting new Pokémon. They rush to one and Ash heals his Pokémon.
The next day, Ash is fighting a Pewter City resident at the Ice Field. They've both won once and are currently battling Kingler versus Cloyster. Kingler moves in for a Crabhammer, and Cloyster closes up his shell. Ash gets worried, but Brock and Misty tell him to keep Kingler doing it. Soon enough, the hammers crack through the shell and Cloyster is vanquished. Ash's opponent returns Cloyster and sends out Arcanine! Ash isn't worried, as Kingler is Water type. Kingler lets out a Bubble attack, but Arcanine dodges it and uses Dragon Rage. Kingler gets caught up in the tornado and is thrown to the ground. He tries to get up, but he is too weak.
Ash returns Kingler and sends out Pikachu, who dashes around with an Agility attack. Arcanine let's loose a Fire Blast, which Pikachu easily dodges. He continues to use Fire Blast all over the field, and it starts to melt. Soon, there are only two chunks of ice. Pikachu stands on one while Arcanine stands on the other. Pikachu can't continue his Agility, so Brock tells Ash to have him dive into the water, which he does. He surfaces right in front of Arcanine and Brock knows that Ash has the match in the bag. Misty reminds Ash that water conducts electricity and he tells Pikachu to use Thunderbolt. The entire pool is filled with electricity. Arcanine is shocked and falls into the water, fainted. Ash has won once again and the crowd cheers as he hugs Pikachu. He is one step closer to the Final and only has one more field left: Grass Field.

Pokemon Episode 77: Round One - Begin!

Scenario:
Ash's mom and a lot of their neighbors have gotten together at Professor Oak's lab to watch the Pokémon League battles unfold. As the announcer speaks, they see Ash and his friends walk by in the background. They all cheer.
At the stadium registration area, Ash checks in at one of the many desks. Brock immediately falls in love with the girl there and makes this fact very visible, not only embarrassing Ash and Misty but the girl as well. As Misty pushes him off, Ash gives his Pokédex to the girl. She sticks it into the computer, hits a few keys, and hands it back to him, saying that he's all checked in. He asks her who he's going to be battling in Indigo Stadium and Brock reappears, telling him that he won't be going there just yet. He tells Ash that he has to win a battle in four different fields (Water, Grass, Rock, and Ice) to go on to Indigo Stadium. Ash asks him how he knows and he whips out the Pokémon League Trainer's Book. He embarrasses the girl once again, and is once again shoved off by Misty. Ash asks the girl where he'll be battling first, and she tells them to push the button on the desk and a light will stop on the field. He hits it and the light stops on the Water Field. The panel then shows his opponent: a long-haired guy whose name is Mandy. After she tells him that he'll be in the third battle there that day, they leave.
Outside, Team Rocket, disguised as reporters, are interviewing trainers, trying to find someone with rare Pokémon that they can steal. After talking to someone with a Dodrio, Venomoth, and Raticate, they are starting to get discouraged. Suddenly, they notice Mandy doing a little performance with a large crowd around him and decide that he looks like a prospective target. They approach him, but he snubs them, saying he can't believe they haven't heard of him. He asks them what network they're from and the reply that they're from LCN: Lovely, Charming Network. Mandy walks off, telling them that he'll only be interviewed by "networks with viewers." Team Rocket is very ticked off, and James and Meowth restrain Jesse from getting some revenge.
Elsewhere, Misty asks Ash if he wants to borrow some of her Pokémon, but he feels that Squirtle will be able to do the job. They hear a familiar voice and turn to see Gary sipping some tea surrounded by his cheerleaders. He tells Ash that he's going to be battling on the Ice Field and wishes him luck on his first battle, only to say that it's because he wants to be the first to beat him. He laughs and walks off to his first battle. Suddenly, Ash is paged over the P.A. System and is told to go to the nearest courtesy phone, where there is a call waiting for him. He hurries over to one and picks up the receiver. It's Professor Oak, and he asks Ash if he'd like Krabby to balance out his team. Ash eagerly consents and Professor Oak hurries off to send Krabby to him. Meanwhile, his mom comes into view and asks if he's ok. She moves the camera a little to show all the other people at Oak's who are cheering him on and Ash is a bit flattered. The Pokéball containing Krabby appears on the stand beside the phone and Ash thanks Professor Oak. After some last-minute reminders from his mom and a cheer from the others, Ash hangs up. As he walks out of the center, he meets Mandy for the first time. He introduces himself, but makes fun of Ash, saying that he'll be no match for him. Ash vows to beat him.
During lunch, Misty asks Ash if he really wants to use Krabby in battle, as he hasn't ever fought before. Brock agrees with her, saying that many matches are decided before they start as people choose the wrong Pokémon to use. He tells Ash that the decision is up to him. They hear a lot of cheering coming from a nearby television and see that Gary has just won his first battle. Ash looks determined to keep his reputation.
Later, Ash and his friends have made their way to the Water Field, where someone has just beat a Tentacruel with a Seaking. Misty notices that Ash is shaking slightly, but he says that it's just the vibrations in the stadium. The doors open and Ash steps onto the field and onto his podium. The announcer introduces Ash and Mandy, who turns out to be a league favorite. The announcer then tells them that they only get three Pokémon each, and the battle starts. However, just before they send out they're Pokémon, Jessie's voice sounds over the speakers. She and James tell Ash to beat Mandy, but are quickly carted off by four Officer Jennys. The battle resumes.
Mandy sends out Exeggutor and Ash sends out Krabby. Misty maintains that this is a bad idea, but Ash is confident. Exeggutor sends out a Psywave which Krabby dodges by jumping into the water. Exeggutor forms a whirlpool in the water with a Psychic attack, and Krabby is caught up in it. Ash tries to withdraw Krabby, but the flow of the water makes it impossible. Exeggutor sends out an Egg Bomb attack, and the splashes come back onto him. The announcer raves about how strong Exeggutor must be, being a part grass-type Pokémon and not being weakened by the water. Krabby works his way out of the rushing water and uses a Vicegrip attack on Exeggutor, latching onto one of his leaves. Mandy tries to get his Pokémon to use his Hypnosis attack, but Exeggutor is running around in pain. Krabby unleashes a Leer and then a Stomp, defeating Exeggutor. Brock and Misty express their surprise, and Krabby starts to glow, evolving into Kingler.
Mandy sends out Seadra, who dashes at Kingler with an Agility attack. Neither a Water Gun nor a Bubble attack hits the speedy Seadra and things are looking grim for Kingler. Fortunately, while dodging one rush of bubbles, Seadra hits another and flies into the air. As he falls, Kingler uses a Crabhammer and Seadra is defeated. The crowd starts to cheer for Ash, and Team Rocket looks on with interest. Mandy withdraws Seadra and sends out another speedy Pokémon: Golbat. Brock gets worried, as Kingler has a disadvantage over flying Pokémon. Misty tells Ash to use Pikachu, but he is confident in Kingler's abilities. Kingler jumps into the water and Golbat prepares a Take Down attack. As he swoops down over the water, Kingler surges out and grips him with a Vicegrip attack. Unfortunately, Golbat gets out and hits Kingler with a Razor Wind. Kingler is weakened and Golbat moves in for the kill with a Mega Drain. Just in time, Kingler unleashes a powerful Hyper Beam, hitting Golbat with the full force. Golbat falls to the ground. Ash has won.
Ash cheers and Mandy looks greatly disappointed. Ash runs out onto the platform in the water and gives Kingler a hug, congratulating him. At Professor Oak's, everyone cheers and his mom starts to tear up. Team Rocket is stunned and Meowth says that it's all for the better for now Ash's Pokémon are even stronger. Brock looks in the Trainer Book and reads that winners "should conduct themselves with dignity and restraint." They turn and see Ash dancing in front of the cameras. They all sigh

Pokemon Episode 76: All Fired Up

Scenario:
Ash, Misty, and Brock have made it to Indigo Plateau. Ash yells out in excitement, making Togepi cry. He goes on and on, and Misty and Brock discuss how he'll calm down eventually. They continue walking and soon come upon a town with a large group of people standing along the road. As Ash approaches, they start to cheer. Ash thinks that they're cheering for him, but they rush past him. Ash and his friends turn around to see a young man running down the road carrying a torch. Ash realizes that the people are cheering for him, and Brock tells him that the torch is supposed to inspire all Pokémon trainers. He goes on to say that being a torch bearer is a great honor. Misty says that the fire is supposed to come from the legendary Moltres, the fire bird. Ash tells them that he wants to catch Moltres and train him. "Just like Charizard?" Misty asks, and Ash falls to the ground.
Ash gets up and goes to the torch bearer, telling him that he'll take the torch now. Officer Jenny runs up and informs him that only approved competitors are allowed to carry it. Ash asks her if she recognizes him, but she doesn't. Brock comes up and explains that they've met many of the other Officer Jennys before. Officer Jenny's suspicions are instantly aroused, but Brock tells her that Ash is harmless. She maintains, however, that only competitors are allowed to carry the torch, and Ash shows her his badges, telling her that he is a competitor. He begs her to allow him to carry the torch, and a man behind them tells her to let him. Officer Jenny addresses him as President Goodshow, and he says that Ash shows a lot of spirit. After falling off the truck he was sitting on, Officer Jenny introduces him as Charlie Goodshow, president of the Pokémon League Torch Committee. He tells Ash that they need a spirited lad like Ash to help carry the torch to Indigo Stadium. Ash is honored, and takes the flame.
As he starts to run with the torch, Team Rocket flies overhead. They complain about how Ash gets to carry the torch, and plan to steal it from him. Ash exits the city and continues down the path with Brock and Misty riding the truck behind him. Suddenly, the ground beneath the truck crumbles, and it falls into a deep hole. Team Rocket's balloon hovers over the hole, and they do their motto. They jump down, and Meowth lands on Ash's face, scratching him. Ash yells out in pain, and throws the torch into the air. Meowth catches it, but unfortunately, it's the end with the flames on it and he lights on fire. He tosses the torch into the air as well, and Pikachu catches it. After Meowth chases Jessie and James around for a little while, James sends out Victreebel who tries to extinguish the flaming feline by nearly swallowing him whole. It doesn't work, and he lights on fire as well. Ash sends out Squirtle, who puts them out with Water Gun.
Jessie demands the torch, but Ash refuses (of course). James lunges at Pikachu, still holding the torch. He throws the torch into the air and shocks James. Jessie and Ash both grab the torch, and a tug-of-war ensues. Squirtle jumps onto Jessie's head and starts pulling on her face. Meowth jumps onto Ash and starts to tickle him. Ash finally can't take it anymore, and lets go. Jessie takes the torch and jumps into the balloon with James and Meowth. Ash stares at the balloon angrily, then slumps to the ground in disappointment. Everybody finally gets out of the hole, and Goodshow tells Ash not to worry. He says that he's very proud of how Ash acted and pulls a lantern out of his shirt. He tells them all that he keeps a back-up flame, and they light another torch. Back with Team Rocket, the flame is dying down. Meowth turns up the gas a bit too much, and the flame flares up, then burns out.
After a while of running down the path, Ash passes the torch on to Misty. Soon enough, she passes it on to Brock, who runs it into the Pokémon League village among the cheers of the crowd. That night, Ash and his friends tour around the complex. Ash hears a familiar voice and turns to see Gary sitting at a table amongst his cheerleaders. He taunts Ash for a moment, then leaves. Later on, when everyone else is asleep, Ash is still awake, thinking about how so many people don't think he'll make it. He gets up and walks toward the stadium. Already there is Goodshow, who notices Ash come in. He tells himself that Ash has a lot of spirit, and Ash wonders how he'll do. He resolves that he'll try his hardest.
The next day is the day of the opening ceremonies. Brock and Misty sit with Goodshow. They watch the participants come out as the announcer explains how each of them has earned at least eight gym badges. They spot Ash and Pikachu, who look quite nervous, and Gary, who doesn't. A girl comes in, carrying the torch to light the big central torch at the top of the stadium. Upon reaching there, she is met by two figures dressed in Roman attire. Ash immediately recognizes them as Team Rocket, and runs up to stop the girl from giving the torch to them. He's too late, as Jessie grabs it from the girl's hand. They whip off their costumes and Ash asks them why they have to ruin everything. Ash runs at Jessie, but James sends out Weezing who uses a Smog attack. Jessie lights the central torch, which flares up. They then climb into their huge robotic grasshopper and place the central torch onto the robot's back.
They then jump onto the main floor, and Pikachu tries to shock them with Thunderbolt. It has no effect, as they have made it out of shock-proof material. Ash sends out Bulbasaur, who tries a Razor Leaf. The leaves are only burnt up by the flames of the torch. Team Rocket moves closer to Ash, who is backed up against a wall. He knows that they're going to burn him, but refuses to leave, saying that he doesn't want them to get away with what they're doing. The flames engulf Ash, and he realizes that they're not hot. The flames come together into the form of a large bird, Moltres. The fire-bird dives at the robotic grasshopper, blowing it up and sending Team Rocket into the sky. The torch bowl lands exactly where it was, and the bird swoops into it, re-igniting it.
The ceremonies continue, and Goodshow gives a speech about how the torch should keep everyone's spirits bright. Ash thanks Moltres in his mind, and tells Pikachu that they've made it. They are now ready to fight in the League.

Pokemon Episode 75: Bad to the Bone

Scenario:
Ash back in Pallet Town asks Professor Oak for advice because they didn't train as much as they should have. Professor Oak gets really angry and says if you aren't ready now you might as well pack it in and quit! Ash runs out as fast as he can. Brock, Misty and Ash say good-bye to Mrs. Ketchum and thank-you for letting them stay at her house. She says it was a pleasure and the gang finally leave Pallet and are off to the Indigo Plateau. As they are walking down a grassy path a man falls down from nowhere and challenges Ash to a battle. he says the winner gets to keep the loser's badges. Misty says to Ash don't do it and Ash is about to walk by when the man says go no further if you think you will lose to me you will not stand a chance at the Pokemon League. Ash gets really mad and accepts the challenge. The man sends out Marowak and Ash sends out Bulbasaur, Bulbasaur is beaten so Ash uses Pikachu. Pikachu uses lots of agility attacks to dodge Marowaks bone, and then uses thundershock beating Marowak. The man is shocked that he lost and Ash asks about the badges, but the man says he has none. Ash is now even more mad and says you acted like you had some! The man tells him the his name is Otoshi and that on the way a talking Mewoth stole his badges. Ash knows right away who it is and says it was Team Rocket. We then see that Otoshi and Marowak were on their way to the pokemon League and they were very hungry. In the middle of the road there was a plate of food and they ran to eat it. the place caved in and they fell into one of Team Rocket's holes and then they stole his badges. Ash says we'll help you find them and Misty and Brock tell him he'll be late for the Pokemon League. Ash says I'd feel really bad too if someone stole may badges and then it shows clips form all 8 battles and Ash says stealing them from one trainer is like stealing them from all of them. Meanwhile James and Meowth are by their balloon and James says lets look at those badges one more time. Meowth agrees and looks for them, but can't find them. Meowth says I can't find where Jesse and I hid them. they look for Jesse and James asks what did she say she had to do again? Meowth replies shopping. James says she took a green package wrapped with ribbon with her. Meowth is all mad and says she stole the badges we stole! Ash sends out Pidgeotto to look for Team Rocket and Pidgeotto spots James and Mewoth in the balloon looking for jesse also. Ash makes them come down. James says that Jesse ran away with them, but Misty says lets see if thats true. they look through all his belongings and Brock says it's just a pile of junk here! James whines it has centimental value when Meowth interupts them. marowak is hopping up and down and Meowth translates what he's saying for them. Marowak wishes right now he wasn't a pokemon and he put in all that effort and wasted time for nothing. Otoshi tries to comfort it, but he slaps away his hand leaving Otoshi yelping in pain and walks off. Otoshi is really sad and Ash says the only way to get him back is to find your badges. James and Meowth fly off in their balloon saying we have to find Jesse before they do. We now see Jesse dressed in a pink dress like thing, stuff they might wear in Asia with a cloth covering her face from the nose down. Those fools (James and Meowth) will never recognize me now! She runs into another pokemon trainer going to the Pokemon League and they look at eachother's badges. She says look over there and is about to steal the badges when a Team Rocket smoke bomb lands by them and explodeds revealing James saying the motto. Jesse joins in part way and the other trainr runs away shouting help!, Team Rocket! James says that Jesse has been become shamed and Jesse is all upset. James and Meowth make her promise to not do it again that we can be meaner together. Jesse says that's fine as long as she's the meanest, (James and Meowth fall down in the background). We then see Marowak walking through the forest he sees a Chansey playing catch with her trainer and a Hitmonlee practicing his kicks with it's trainer. he then thinks of Otoshi and all the training they did together, sitting under waterfalls, jumping through hoops of fire and gets all sad and satrts running to go back to him. Meanwhile Ash and the gang have found Team Rocket and Otoshi challenges Jesse to a match. Jesse uses Arbok of course and Otoshi uses Doduo. Ash again uses his Pokedex on it wondering what it is even though I thought he found out in an earlier episode. Doduo fights well, but the heads start fighting eachother and Arbok is winning. Jesse is going to try to use a pokeball on it and catch it for herself when Marowak's bone hit's it out of the way. he beats Arbok and then James sends out Weezing. Ash sends Pikachu and Pikachu beats Weezing. Team Rocket flys of in their balloon with Otoshi's badges, but Marowak throws his bone at them blasting them off again. Misty catches the badges as they fall from the balloon. Ash, Brock, and Misty see Indigo Plateau and Misty is gald that Ash helped Otoshi and Brock said that they might be late for the opening games and then the episode ends showing Indigo Plateau and Ash running off after it saying that the Pokemon League is Tomorrow and will he be a winner there? He is already a winner at life.

Pokemon Episode 74: The Ancient Puzzle of Pokemopolis

Scenario:
The episode starts right away with Brock sending out Vulpix and Ash Pikachu. The narrator tells us that Ash is finally training for the Pokemon League. Ash tells Pikachu to use agility and Brock orders Vulpix to do the same. They dodge eachother and then Ash orders Pikachu to use an electric attack and Brock tells Vulpix to use her flamethrower when Jigglypuff stands between them and Ash and Brock tell their pokemon to aim their attacks elsewhere. The fire and electricity combine and hit a big cliff side showing a girl and a short man up there. Down below Ash says something to Pikachu about how strong you've gotten and Brock examines where the attack hit. He says it looks like a temple and picks up a yellow and brown object with two pointy ends and a blue shape in the middle. Right when they are all looking at it it is snatched from them. They turn around and a girl is showing the object to the leader of a group of archaelogists. The short man says you've done it again Eve. Ash and Misty are trying to get noticed and Brock says whatever that girl has there I found Quickly Eve grabs his hands and says a quick thank-you, behind him Ash is shaking his head and Misty has a not again look on her face, Eve then goes back talking to the archaelogists. She asks them to set up camp so they can study more, but they have already set up camp. Eve finally talks to Ash, Misty and Brock and tells them that she is trying to find out the secret of Pokemopolis that it was wrecked by a storm many years ago. She shows them many items and a stone with weird writing (not Japanese). The stone talks about a shadow and a dark force. The short man interupts them showing them a spoon like thing that is yellow and brown and made of the same stuff the pointy object they first found was of. The pointy thing begins to glow blue and Pikachu notices. Nobody else does though and Ash asks him what happened. Pikachu can't tell him though Brock says lets strat digging and runs off, Eve comments to Ash he must love mysteries. Ash says no, but he does love something embarassly. The short man starts talking about how smart Eve is and that she is a Doctor. Brock and says she's too young, but he says she was a doctor at 9. Ash, Misty and Brock comment on she's a brain! and Misty says at 9 I was still afraid of the doctor. The camp goes to sleep and then we can see Team rocket spying on them. Jesse and James say their motto holding pieces of bush covering them. James says lets steal the artifacts, but Jesse says we can take stuff from the temple itself and sends Arbok in to find the most priceless treasure he can. While Arbok is gone Jesse asks James what he'll do with his money. James says well first I'd pay the boss all the money I owe him.... Jesse gets mad and says we won't need him if we are wealthy. Just then Arbok comes up with what I think of as a weird face. he has 3 black balls in his mouth and Jesse comments angrily that's all you could find? Just then Arbok disappears inside the black balls. They float up off the ground making big foot prints as they float along. It paralyzes Jesse and James and sucks them inside. In the morning the camp arises and Eve finds the black balls the short man kneels down and picks them up, but he gets sucked inside. The balls show the faces of Team Rocket and the man inside. After seeing this everybody runs, but it paralyzes the rest of the arcealogists besides Eve and sucks them in too. The black balls turn into a huge Gengar with weird markings on it. Ash tries the pokedex on it and agrees with Misty that it isn't real the last gengar he saw was not the size of him. The pokedex tells him details of Gengar are unknown. Gengar heads off towards Pallet and Ash says it'll destroy my home town! Ash goes after it and Misty says I'm coming with you Ash and Brock says to Eve to figure out the mystery before it's too late and follows Ash too. Over in Pallet it shows Professor Oak in his field with his pokemon looking up in the mountains seeing the shadow of Gengar and thinks a storm is coming. Ash sends out pidgeotto to use gust attack and Brock sends out Onix. Pidgeotto is sucked in and Jesse shakins it by its neck saying can't you fight better than that you stupid bird. They are all stuck in a small space and rather squished together now. Onix uses his tackle, but dives inside of Gengar and is trapped also. Ash, Brock, and Misty run back to the camp and Brock sees Eve under the spell. The pointy object, spoon, Eve, and all the other items are floating around. ash tries to hold Brock back from rescuing Eve saying he might be put under the spell too. The spoon inserts itself into the blue shape in the middle of the pointy object and light glows around releasing a huge Alakazam. Eve is free of the spell now and Ash says is that a Kadabra? Brock tells him it is an Alakazam and he uses his pokedex on it too. It also has strange markings on it. Alakazam and Gengar starts to battle and then Eve says I've got it the shadow is these two pokemon and they destroyed Pokemopolis. Eve is mad at herself for not realizing sooner and I shouldn't have tried to discover the secret of Pokemopolis. Misty tells her how was she to know and Ash says that it wasn't their fault whoever wrote the tablet should have made it easier to understand. Gengar Paralyzes them all, but Pikachu. Ash tells Pikachu to run in the water and use his electric attacks. He shocks Alakazam and Gengar Ash tries using two pokeballs on them because they are pokemon, but the pokeballs explode. Just then Jigglypuff comes along and is hit by an explosion. She is flown through the air. Ash and the gang can move again and areaway on a rock using binoculars to watch the events. Ash says to Jigglypuff if you knock them out you'll be Pallet's favourite vocalist. Jigglypuff sings for a while, but it has a no effect we see something glowing where the temple was and then Jigglyouff is knocked away by Gengar and Alakazam. Out of the glowing thing comes a huge Jigglypuff with the strange markings also. She sings but has a terrible deep voice. It works though and puts Alakazam and Gengar to sleep. Ash, Misty, Brock and Eve cover their ears from the sound of the other Jigglypuff. The big Jigglypuff takes its buket it was singing into and pulls out a paintbrush with red paint and paints flowers on Gengar and paints on Alakazam too. The giant pokemon disappear and they say good-bye to Eve and the episode ends saying will Ash every train for the Pokemon League?

Pokemon Episode 73: To Master the Onixpected

Scenario:
The episode starts off with the opening music of the gameboy just like all the other ones in Pallet Town and it says Ash has 3 weeks left to the Pokemon League and is behind in training, but training hard, or is he? It shows him and Brock watching T.V. it is a Pokemon League battle with Bruno using his Hitmonchan. Misty turns it off though and tells Ash he better start training. Ash says I was training that they were watching Bruno of the Elite 4 and his tic tacs. Brock says they were learning his secrets and Misty asks Ash what they are and Ash doesn't know and Brock's head droops and Misty puts on a weird face and says I guess they're too secret to be known. Ash wishes that Bruno would help him train and Ash's mom says I know where he is. Ash doesn't believe her at first, but then she says he trains up in the mountains and Ash jumps up and says we're going to the mountains today! It then shows Brock and Ash panting hard sitting down and offering to stop for Misty so she can rest. Misty isn't tired at all, but says okay lets find a place where I can rest sarcastically.
Later Ash and Brock are complaining how hungary and tired they are. They meet and old lady that is complaining how people keep stealing her meatballs and look down at the plate she has and sees it empty. She looks up and sees Ash and Brock eating them, Brock says perfect and Ash says just the right amount of muskrat. Misty says they must be really hungary to eat them when they see in the distance Jesse and James. They yell at them to stop and the old lady goes after them with her broom hitting them hard making them drop the 3 bags of meatballs they were carrying. Meowth fast forwards through their motto making them sound like chimp munks. Jesse complains here mouth hurts after it and James says he bit his tongue. he tells Ash that since they always lose to them they gave up and are living off the wilderness and Meowth puts in and the lady's meatballs. they leave and Ash asks about the mountain. The lady tells them that the mountain is known for their overgrown Onix and Brock is interested that the fertile soil must make them grow bigger. A few hours later they say Ash looks down and says hey look is that a road?
Brock says that it isn't and was probably made by a really big creature, an Onix. Right then and Onix comes up and they run for their lives, Misty thinks they're going to die when a man further ahead beckons them to jump behind a rock. They do so and the Onix goes by them leaving them unharmed. Ash turns to thank him and Brock and Ash's face go into looks of awe. Misty asks them who is it and they say that it is Bruno. brock gets on his knees and begs him to help Ash train saying that my friend can sometimes be dumb and do stupid things and he really needs your help to train for the Pokemon League. Brock motions for Ash to get down and he kneels and says please help me and Brock motions that isn't enough and pulls him down so his head is on the ground and makes Ash beg. Bruno agrees as long as they do everything he tells them to do and they agree. They start the lesson by carrying two buckets of water, (Misty doesn't participate in these lessons) and it is supposed to make them physically strong and balanced. Ash is okay for a couple of steps then falls over splashing Misty and Brock. Ash smiles sheepishly and says I've got to work on balance. They next lesson is chopping wood and this is supposed to give Ash a good grip. Misty mutters he needs to get a grip when Ash chops the wood and sends a piece flying in Misty's direction hitting her in the face and knocking her off the log she was sitting on.
Ash again smiles sheepishly at Misty's shoes and legs (all we can see of her behind the log) and says I guess your head got in the way. The next lesson is to peel a twig and Ash peels it perfectly and Bruno takes it and says to them always pack a fork and breaks the twig in two using them as chopsticks. Ash is a little discouraged by this and Misty thinks all his lessons are phony. Brock says to test his super speed and reactions I'm going to sneak up behind him and hit him with this stick. He should sense me and stop the attack. He has a day dream about him doing so and goes behind them and puts all his force behind the stick. bruno is still eating and doesn't react and the stick collides with his head giving him a huge bump and he says that hurt then falls over. Brock then says my image of him has been shattered and it shows a picture of Bruno and it falls into bits and pieces. Ash asks what the secrets of Pokemon Training are and Bruno says there are none. I came up here to catch a strong Onix. Strong pokemon strong trainers and that leaves Ash, Brock & Misty groaning. Team Rocket overhears the conversation and says all we have to do is catch a strong Onix and we'll be as good as he is. Meowth says that they'd have to attack Onix unexpectedly and Jesse and James say luckily we have an unexpectable weapon and Meowth says what an unexcepted joke *sigh*. Then a huge Onix comes along and Team Rocket shoots their gun weapon off at it hitting it and making it mad. It rises up to full height and Team Rocket runs for their life. They spot a cave and go hide inside it.
Onix starts banging himself against it making the cave start to cave in and Team Rocket shouts for help. Ash, Misty & Brock come around this time and Ash says we have to save them. Brock sends out his smaller Onix and Misty says water pokemon are weak against water pokemon and uses staryu. Ash says two water pokemon are better than one and chooses squirtle. Brock orders Onix to use his tackle attack, but Onix is small compared to the big one and ends up hurting itself more. Misty tells staryu to use watergun, and says staryu can't do it alone to Ash and he orders Squirtle to use water gun too. Meowth says to Team Rocket now we can run for it and looks around for them. Way ahead running away Team Rocket says we're one step ahead of you and Meowth goes after them. Onix is recovering from the watergun attack and uses it's tail to whap staryu and squirtle. Bruno suddenly appears and tells Ash, Misty, and Brock to call their pokemon back. The Onix then whaps it's tail at the edge of the deep ditch they are standing on and Ash falls in. Misty and Brock say Ash no! and Pikachu jumps down and uses his thundershock attacks.
Onix just takes a few seconds to recover and Ash grabs Pikachu saying electric attacks don't affect rock and they huddle together waiting for Onix to attack them. Bruno jumps down really fast and picks up Ash and Pikachu and saves them from Onix. He says I'll take care of them and Ash says what pokemon will you use eagerly a fighting type? bruno says I'm not using and Ash is taken aback and Misty and Brock are surprised. Bruno jumps down and asks Onix why are you acting like this attacking me and onix dives at him several times, but is too slow. After a few time Bruno jumps on Onix's head and Onix whaps his tail against it's head making himself dizzy.
Bruno then orders Onix to tell him why he is acting this way and says to not be afraid of him. He closes his eyes and concentrates then starts feeling around Onix's body. Eventually he gets the right spot and says this will only hurt for a second and pulls out a sandslash. Ash says what's that and pulls out his pokedex to analyze it. It tells him the info on sandslash, a mouse pokemon evolved from sandshrew. Burn lets the sandslash go and asks Onix if he wants to come with him. Nix wants to and Burn captures him in a pokeball and jumps back up to be with Ash, Misty, and Brock. he tells them the true secret is for pokemon and humans to care for each other like Ash and Pikachu and Pikachu and Ash look at each other and start laughing and the episode ends saying it is one day closer to the Pokemon League!

Pokemon Episode 72: Go West, Young Meowth

Scenario:
Back home, Ash and Brock are doing some morning exercises while Ash's mom works in the garden and Mr. Mime sweeps. A man on a bicycle arrives with a special delivery, and gives it to them. It turns out to be an invitation to the premiere of "Pokémon In Love", the movie Ash and his friends had helped out with. It is in Hollywood, and everyone gets excited. Ash pretends that he's going to force himself to stay home and train, but he soon changes his mind. Elsewhere, Team Rocket prepares to go as well, but Meowth doesn't appear to be to thrilled. He tells them a story set way back, when he was just a little Meowth with no one. He was always hungry, and even tried to eat a basket of baseballs. Needless to say, he was caught, and was strung up on a tree. He hung there for a long time, finally going to sleep. He was awakened by a loud commotion, and he watched a movie being presented to the attendants of the camp. He saw a Meowth getting ice cream and fried chicken, and decided to go to Hollywood. He hitched a ride on a truck and arrived.
Ash and his friends arrive at the place where the screening was taking place, but are discouraged to find it located in a very run down section of town. Schpealbunk invites them inside, but none of them notice Team Rocket watching from across the street. Meowth still appears to be upset, but won't tell Jessie and James why. He walks off, telling them that he has some "personal business" to take care of. As he walks, he stops in front of a boarded up snack stand. He thinks back, remembering when he arrived at the same place many years ago. He was chased off by the owner of the store when he tried to steal some fried chicken. He ran into an alley, and was approached by a gang of Meowth with a Persian for their leader. The Persian gave him something to eat, and he joined the gang. He remembers how he was never hungry anymore, as he learned how to expertly steal food. Unfortunately, he wasn't content, for he still needed someone to love him.
He walks further, coming across another boarded up store. He thinks back, remembering the first time he saw the Meowth of his dreams. He remembers how he dashed across the street to talk to her, but was hit by the owner's umbrella. The owner was a very rich lady, who pampered her "Meowsi." Meowsi told him that he could never give her the things that her owner did, as he was just a street Meowth. At this, the owner sucked her up in a diamond encrusted Pokéball, and left. He resolved that the only way he could get her would be to become human, and he started to work on accomplishing this.
Meowth walks a bit more, and comes across a large house. He remembers how he stayed in this house, learning to become human. The first thing he did was to learn to walk on two legs, just like people. It was very painful, but he was eventually able to learn. Unfortunately, this made him a lot slower, and he got caught at the food stand a lot more often. But he knew how to walk. Now, he needed to learn to talk like a human. This took him a long time, but he was eventually able to do it. He found a picture book, and practiced learning the alphabet. The first word he ever learned was "rocket"; because of this, he joined Team Rocket. He practiced more, and was able to perfect the language.
One day, he approached Meowsi and showed of his new talents. Unfortunately, Meowsi now considered him to be a freak. Meowth was horrified, and set off to become the richest, most powerful "freak" Meowsi ever saw. That was the last time he ever saw her. Meowth sighs, then realizes that he is surrounded by the gang of Meowth he had joined years before. Persian approaches him, and he goes with them. Persian tells Meowth that they want him to join the gang again, but he refuses. Persian steps aside, and Meowth sees Meowsi sitting forlornly. They talk, and Meowsi tells Meowth how, not long after he left, her owner was almost out of money. She was forced to abandon Meowsi, and left her on the street. She was taken in by the gang and the Persian, and has been with them ever since. Meowth tells her that he will take her away with him, but Persian and the rest of the gang show up and tell prepare to attack. Suddenly, Jessie and James show up to rescue him. They tell him that they had followed him, and they don't want anything to happen to their friend. They send out Arbok and Weezing, and the area fills with smoke.
Later, Meowth and Persian confront each other in a battle. They jump at each other, and a scratch is heard. Persian falls to the ground. Meowsi runs past Meowth to Persian, and licks his cheek. She tells him that it wouldn't be right to leave Persian after he had protected her so long, and besides, Meowth is still a freak.
Back at the theater, the movie finishes. Schpealbunk asks them all what they thought, and Ash tells him that he didn't see any of them in the entire movie. He tells them that, since the movie was originally supposed to be about Pokémon, he cut them all out. Misty asks him why they invited them to the showing when they weren't even in it, and he tells them that he couldn't get any real movie stars to come. Suddenly, Team Rocket comes out on stage, does their motto, and leave. Ash and his friends stare at them, then sigh. Later that night, Meowth sits on the roof of a house. He wonders if Meowsi is looking at the moon as well, and hunches over.

Pokemon Episode 71: Lights, Camera, Quacktion!

Scenario:
Ash, Misty, and Brock are hiking along, looking for a place to stop to rest and train. They come across a campground, and decide to stop there. A girl approaches them, and asks if they are trainers. Brock instantly falls in love, and tries to introduce himself. Misty drags him away, and Ash tells her that he's a trainer. The girl introduces herself as Katrina, and she challenges him to a battle, sending out Raichu. Suddenly, Team Rocket shows up, clamping a net down on the Pokémon. They laugh, thinking that they caught Pikachu. They look down and see that they missed Ash's Pokémon, and have Raichu in the net. Raichu uses a Thunderbolt attack and is about to use a Mega Kick, when a man standing nearby yells "CUT!" Confused, everyone looks at him as he tells a camera crew behind him to get a different angle and focus in on the losers. Team Rocket jumps up, insulted, and the man says his personal motto, which sounds a lot like Team Rocket's. His name is Clevon Schpealbunk, and he's a director.
Misty thinks aloud, wondering who he is. Brock knows, and raves about Schpealbunk's movie "I Saw What You Ate Last Tuesday." Katrina raves about it as well, saying that she "almost saw that movie." Team Rocket asks him why he's in the area, and he tells them that he's looking for a star for his new movie. Team Rocket tries to convince him to use them, but he says that the movie involves Pokémon only. Ash gets excited, and Schpealbunk introduces one of the stars, a Wigglytuff. Meowth laughs, but gets Doubleslapped. Brock mentions that it's interesting how something so cute can be so mean, and gets Doubleslapped as well. Wigglytuff walks off, and Jessie comments that she is a real Prima Donna. Schpealbunk sighs, saying that his previous co-star, and Abra, teleported off when Wigglytuff was to tough on him. He tells them that he needs a new co-star, and they all decide to audition their Pokémon.
A bit later, Schpealbunk is about to start the auditions. Brock sends out Vulpix, and Psyduck comes out instead of Staryu like she wanted. Schpealbunk tells the Pokémon that they need to know how to dance, and music starts to play. The Pokémon start to dance, and Schpealbunk limits them down to seven Pokémon: Pikachu, Raichu, Arbok, Weezing, Vulpix, Psyduck, and Meowth. He tells these Pokémon that they also have to be able to sing, but they are interrupted by Jigglypuff, who does what he does best: Singing.
After everyone wakes up from their nap and cleans the scribbles on their faces off, the auditions resume. Wigglytuff walks on stage, feels insulted by something Meowth says, and Doubleslaps him. Weezing and Arbok try to sing, but are also Doubleslapped by Wigglytuff. Schpealbunk tells Team Rocket that their Pokémon are out, and they leap up, ready to battle. Arbok and Weezing are to down, however, and are leaving. Team Rocket chases after them, with Meowth soon behind. All the other Pokémon, too nervous about working with the irritable Wigglytuff leave. All of them, but Psyduck. Schpealbunk decides that, since he's the only Pokémon left, Psyduck gets the part. Schpealbunk gives them the summary of the movie, which sounds a lot like the story of Romeo and Juliet. Misty is about to point this out, but is knocked down by Ash and Brock, who want to work for the movie. Schpealbunk lets all of them, including Katrina, help out, and they all cheer. Team Rocket, nearby, want to attack, but Arbok and Weezing are still upset. Team Rocket eventually lifts their spirits, but it takes a little while.
Later on, Schpealbunk tells everyone to prepare for the last scene. Everyone wonders why, as they just started a little while ago, and he tells them that he always does this so that he knows how the story turns out. Two groups of Pokémon (the feuding families) face each other, and the mood is set with wind from Pidgeotto, rain from Staryu, and lightning from Pikachu and Raichu. The two families start to battle, and Psyduck and Wigglytuff approach an cue. Pikachu is thrown into Wigglytuff's face, and she is about to have her revenge when a bunch of smoke fills the area. Team Rocket comes in and does their motto for the camera. The Pokémon surround them, and start to battle with them as well. The cameraman asks Schpealbunk if he should stop rolling, but he says not to and tells them to join in on the battle. Ash steps into the camera, and waves. Misty hits him out of the way and tries to do a thing of her own, when Brock steps between her and the camera. Suddenly, Katrina screams, as Team Rocket has rounded up all the Pokémon in a crane. All the Pokémon but Psyduck, however. Misty and Wigglytuff start yelling at him to do something, but he doesn't for a while. Eventually, Psyduck's headache gets bad enough from the yelling, that he can use his Psychic powers. He uses Confusion, freeing the Pokémon and flinging the crane and Team Rocket into the sky. Psyduck falls over from the exertion, and Wigglytuff runs up, concerned. Psyduck opens his eyes, and everyone cheers. Schpealbunk approaches, thanking them for making such a grand finale.
Later that night, Ash tells himself that he didn't do any training all day, but Misty and Brock tell him that it should be ok. Ash tells Katrina that he can't wait to see her at the Pokémon League, and Schpealbunk gets an idea to use this situation in another battle. Brock wants to star, as Schpealbunk says the star would be mobbed by female fans. Nearby, Wigglytuff and Psyduck sit together and look at the lake. Elsewhere, Team Rocket hangs from a tree over a cliff, hoping they don't fall. Better not move...

Pokemon Episode 70: Make Room for Gloom

Scenario:
A Dodrio outside caws, it's morning. Brock is in the kitchen, making breakfast, and Ash is asleep in his room. Mr. Mime sweeps his face, and he rolls over. Mr. Mime then starts to sweep Pikachu's face, and he shocks Ash awake. Misty wakes up, and they go downstairs. Ash's mom comes in, and asks Ash to help her in the garden. Ash instantly gets worried, and tells her that he's going to be training in the mountains. Misty never heard about this, but Ash tells her to play along. They all go outside, and Ash tells his friends that his mom would've worked him so hard that he would have been to tired to do anything else. His mom approaches them and asks them to pick up three or four-hundred pounds of fertilizer on their way home. They all yell, and run down the path.
After a few minutes of running, they stop for a rest. In front of them sits a large greenhouse, Xanadu Nursery. Ash tells his friends that the owner of the nursery moved away a long time ago, and he's not sure who owns it now. Brock looks inside and comments about all the beautiful greenery. He then sees a beautiful girl standing amongst it all. He runs up to the glass and points her out to Ash, but she's gone, a Gloom in her place. A man approaches from behind, with what looks like a flame thrower in his hands. It turns out to be a pesticide sprayer of some kind, and he takes them inside.
He introduces himself as Potter, and tells Ash and his friends that Pokémon trainers bring their grass Pokémon to the nursery because they love it so much. Ash sends out Bulbasaur, who walks among the flowers, sniffing them. Brock asks Potter about the girl he saw, and he tells him that her name is Florinda. Brock sighs, "What a beautiful name." Meanwhile, Bulbasaur comes across a patch of Pokénip, and starts to act strangely. He walks over to another plant, and falls to the ground. Ash is about to smell it, when Florinda stops him. She tells him that the weed is Stun Stem, and anything that smells it becomes paralyzed. Ash gets worried, as Bulbasaur smelled it, and Florinda tells Gloom to carry him into the house. Gloom struggles with Bulbasaur for a few seconds, and Ash helps him out.
Once inside the house, Gloom gives Bulbasaur a sip of nectar, and he wakes up. Florinda tells them that Gloom has worked with the Stun Stem for so long, that he's built up an antidote. Bulbasaur approaches Gloom, and looks very appreciative. Misty points over to a balcony overlooking the nursery, where Brock is talking with Florinda. Florinda tells Brock that her family has owned the nursery for a long time, and now want her to run it. Unfortunately, she doesn't believe in herself, as she can't even get Gloom to evolve. Inside, Potter tells Ash and Misty that she even got a Leaf Stone to evolve Gloom, but it didn't work. Florinda tells Brock that she thinks Gloom won't evolve because she hasn't loved him enough. Brock tells her that this can't be true, as Gloom is never Gloomy. Florinda perks up for a moment, but that becomes depressed again.
Suddenly, Professor Oak appears in the room, telling them that the problem has nothing to do with loving her Pokémon. He picks up the Leaf Stone, and tells them that it is a fake. He tells them all that he's heard many reports of a few people selling fake stones, and he decided to check it out. Brock asks Florinda what the people she bought the fake stone, and she accurately describes Team Rocket. Team Rocket just so happens to be in the nursery, and they look for some rare Pokémon to steal. Jessie finds the Stun Stem, and they start to pick it.
Up in the balcony, Brock tells Florinda that he'll find her a real Leaf Stone, but Ash reminds him that he has no idea where to find one. Brock then tells Florinda that he'll track down Team Rocket, but Ash reminds him that he doesn't know where to find them either. Misty notes that Team Rocket are the ones who find them, when suddenly the computer starts to beep. Potter tells everyone that someone's stealing plants from the nursery, and they see Team Rocket among the Stun Stem. They rush down, and tell them to stop. Florinda pleads with them, telling them that the plants are like her children, but the only mock her. Brock tells Ash to use Bulbasaur, and ties Team Rocket up with Vine Whip. Team Rocket only laughs, and tell them that they still have a trick up their sleeve. Everyone waits for a moment, and Team Rocket yells at Meowth to hurry up. Meowth jumps from behind them, and throws a ball filled with powder at Ash and his friends. Florinda tells them not to inhale, as it's Stun Spore, but she's too late and no one can move. Bulbasaur's vines drop off of Jessie and James, and they grab Pikachu. Brock yells to Florinda to use Gloom, but she isn't confident enough. Brock convinces her to try, and they dash down the stairs.
Team Rocket scoffs at Gloom, and sends out Arbok and Weezing. Jessie tells Arbok to use his Toxic attack, and James tells Weezing to use his Smog attack. Gloom cowers, and Brock urges Florinda to attack. She tells Gloom to use Double Team, and he makes several copies of himself, surrounding Team Rocket. Weezing and Arbok, confused, slam into each other, and release a lot of gas, blinding Team Rocket. Brock tells Florinda to use another, more powerful attack. She asks him if Solar Beam would work, and he tells her to go to it. Gloom collects some light into the flower on his head, and Pikachu frees himself from Jessie by biting her arm. He jumps onto Bulbasaur's back, and Gloom releases his Solar Beam, blasting Team Rocket out of the roof and over the horizon. Ash and his friends thank Florinda, and rave about the Solar Beam.
A bit later, Brock tells Florinda that Gloom is so strong, that he doesn't even need to evolve him into Vileplume. Florinda tells him that she now feels confident enough to run the nursery herself, just as long as she can find the right man. Brock blushes and offers to stay with her, but when he turns around, Ash and Misty are standing there. He looks over, and sees Florinda tell Potter that she loves him. Brock keels over, saying that he'll never find a girl like her again. Ash tries to reassure him by telling him that he'll find plenty of other girls to reject him, and he tells everyone to pick some flowers to take home to his mother. Misty reminds him that he didn't do any training at all, and he dismisses it, telling her that there's always tomorrow. I don't know Ash, you'd better hurry...

Pokemon Episode 69: The Pi-Kahuna

Scenario:
Ash, Misty, and Brock jog along the road near the beach. A car races by Ash, and he gets disoriented by the exhaust fumes. He starts to cough, and walks into the path of another car. The car stops, fortunately, but it causes a massive traffic jam. Everyone starts to yell at each other, and Officer Jenny approaches on her motorcycle. She clears up the jam, and everyone continues on their way. Ash and his friends ask her why so many people are at the beach, and why they have surfboards, and she tells them that Humunga Dunga is coming. She explains that it's a huge wave that hits the island once every twenty years. They look at the ocean, and see several surfers trying to stick a flag or something into a large rock off shore a ways. Officer Jenny tells them that they're trying to be surfing legends, like Jan. She goes on to say that Jan was an excellent surfer who rode Humunga Dunga all the way to the top forty years ago. His flag can be seen flying at the very peak of the rock. Since then, everyone has been trying to match this feat, but no one has. Ash decides to try surfing out for himself, and dashes out to the ocean
. As Ash paddles out, Pikachu notices another, much older looking, Pikachu sitting on a cliff not far away. This Pikachu perks up, and looks out at the ocean, his tail starting to glow slightly. A man inside a cabin looks at him, saying "That's a big wave all right, but not THE big wave." Ash does pretty well surfing, but wipes out. Suddenly, his foot cramps up, and he starts to flail about in the water. A wave crashes into him, and he his knocked unconscious, face down in the water. Another, much larger wave approaches him, but the man on the cliff, with the Pikachu on the tip of his board, surfs by and scoops him up. He gives the Pikachu ("Pooka" as he calls him) different surfing commands and they go towards shore. Ash wakes up just enough to see the Pikachu sitting there, but drifts off again. Later, in the man's cabin, he wakes up. Brock tells Ash that the man's name is Victor, and Ash thanks him for saving his life. Victor looks out at Pooka, sitting on the cliff again, and tells Ash to thank him. Pikachu dashes out to Pooka, and joins him as he watches the sea. Team Rocket surfaces from the water in the Gyarados sub, and sees the two Pikachu sitting there. They prepare to steal both.
Back inside, Misty sings Togepi to sleep, and Ash and Brock talk with Victor. He tells them that he's had Pooka for twenty years, and remembers how he found him. He was floating on a piece of board in the ocean and landed right into his arms. They've been friends ever since. He says that Pooka is a mysterious Pokémon, for he can feel the waves in his body. He can sense when a big wave is coming and Victor tells them that they've ridden every big wave for twenty years. Misty notices some pictures on a wall. One is of Victor and Pooka twenty years ago, the other is of Victor forty years ago. Brock asks who the person is in the third picture with Victor, and he tells them that he's Jan, the surfer. He says that, when he was a kid, everyone wanted to be like Jan. In fact, Victor himself started surfing so he'd be like him. He'd try every day, and, through the support of Jan, he became better and better. He tells them that he thinks Jan could feel the waves within him as well, and always seemed to be waiting for something. One day, it came. It was the wave Humunga Dunga. He tells about how Jan rode the wave all the way to the top, and jabbed his flag into the peak of the mountain. He then says that, after getting to shore, he gave his board to Victor, telling him that he could do it too. He then set off in a boat to "surf the world."
He then tells them that, twenty years later, he challenged Humunga Dunga, but failed. After that, he got really discouraged, and didn't want to surf anymore. Then, he got Pooka, and everything changed. He says that he and Pooka have conquered every sort of wave together, and they're ready for Humunga Dunga. Ash tells him that he believes in him, and they hear Pikachu and Pooka cry out. They dash outside to see both in the clutches of the Gyarados sub's grabbers. Team Rocket appears, does their motto, and set off. They dive down, and Pikachu vainly tries to break through their glass cage. Suddenly, out of the depths, come several real Gyarados. James says that he's heard that Gyarados come to these waters every year to lay their eggs, and they hate to be disturbed. The Gyarados slam the sub a few times, and Team Rocket tries to leave. Unfortunately for them, the Gyarados aren't through with them yet, and Hyper Beam them out of the water. On the surface, Ash and his friends are in a motorboat searching for Team Rocket. The sub launches into the air and breaks apart. Pikachu and Pooka break out of their cage, and Team Rocket flies over the sea. Ash sends Bulbasaur out, and he catches Pikachu with his vines. Pooka falls to the water, and Victor throws out his surfboard, then dives into the water. The waves start to get rough, and Ash and his friends are forced to return to shore. As soon as Victor saves Pooka, Pooka starts to glow and bluish color. It's the big one, and it can be seen coming over the horizon.
On shore, Officer Jenny tells everyone to report to higher ground. Ash and his friends are worried about Victor and Pooka, as they can't see them. Suddenly, he notices them at the top of the wave, rapidly approaching the rock. Victor readies his flag, and the board flies over top of the rock. Victor jabs his flag into the rock, right next to Jan's, and everyone cheers. The wave crashes, and Victor looks out at what he did. Ash and his friends congratulate him, and he notices two kids standing among the crowd. "Hey, you could do it too," he tells them, and gives them his board. Ash and his friends smile.
Later that evening, somewhere out in the ocean, Team Rocket sits and waits as the Gyarados circle them. How are they going to get out of this one?

Pokemon Episode 68: The Evolution Solution

Scenario:
Ash goes outside his house to see a group of people from his neighborhood about to go somewhere. His mother tells him that they are all going to Seafoam Island. Misty and Brock wave to him from the line, and tell him that they were invited as well. Ash starts to go with them, but his mom grabs him by the collar, telling him that he has training to do. They all leave, leaving Ash alone with Mr. Mime. Ash gets bored, and heads over to Professor Oak's lab. He sees the professor clutching his head, and asks him what's up. He tells Ash that he's being trying to figure out the mystery behind Slowpoke's evolution into Slowbro. He tells Ash that the Pokédex doesn't have the answer to the mystery, but then gets an idea. He tells Ash that a Professor Westwood, the programmer of the Pokédex, might have the answer. As he lives on Seafoam island, Ash sets off.
Upon reaching the island, he sees Brock and Misty windsurfing and waves to them. They're both surprised to see him there, and Misty falls off her board. A few minutes later, Brock and Misty walk with Ash to Professor Westwood's lab. He lets them inside and shows them around. He tells them that he is the fifth of a long line of Westwoods, and asks them to call him just that: Westwood the 5th. He looks at Togepi, and raves over how he's never seen one like him. He tells them that he only has information on rare Pokémon that he's made himself. He is, in fact, working on a fictional account at the moment, and apologizes to his forefathers. He then explains to Ash and his friends that he's trying to figure out the mystery behind Slowpoke. Ash says that Professor Oak couldn't figure that out either, and Westwood tells them that he needs to come up with a theory for the Symposium: a group of Pokologists.
They go outside, and Westwood starts to fish. Ash asks him why he's doing this, and he explains that Slowpoke is one of the few Pokémon that fish. Ash uses his Pokédex, which refers to Slowpoke as a Dopey Pokémon. Westwood tells them that, while dopey may not be very nice, it pretty much fits Slowpoke's mental capacity. Misty asks Slowpoke if he's going to defend himself, but he just stares out to sea. Misty notes that the expression on his face looks familiar and, as if on cue, Psyduck pops out of his Pokéball. Psyduck approaches Slowpoke, and they start to talk, sort of. A Krabby comes out of the water, and pinches Slowpoke's tail. He doesn't react, and Krabby does the same to Psyduck. It takes a few seconds, but Psyduck eventually yells out in pain. Slowpoke lifts his tail, as he's caught a Magikarp. Westwood invites them back inside for some lunch.
Meanwhile, down the beach a ways, the Team Rocket Boss relaxes outside his mansion, while Persian licks from a saucer of milk. A little ways away, Meowth starts to tear up as he looks at the wonderful treatment Persian is getting. Jessie and James are nearby, digging in the sand. James complains about how the Boss has been making them do things like swab his yacht and dig for clams. He looks out at the people having fun on the ocean, and starts clawing at the sand in anger. Suddenly, he hits something and pulls it out. It's a Shellder, and James attacks it with Weezing, but Weezing is knocked away. Shellder then uses Ice Beam, just missing Weezing. Weezing nails Shellder with a Haze attack, and James readies a Pokéball. Jessie steps in, however, catching Shellder herself. Their boss calls them over, and tells them how upset he is with their constant failures. He tells them to break into Professor Westwood's laboratory, and steal the Pokémon there. They hurriedly leave.
Back at the laboratory, Misty asks Westwood what exactly the mysteries behind Slowpoke's evolution are. He tells them that before a Shellder clamps onto a Slowpoke's tail, it has a hinged shell. Afterwards, Shellder gets a spiral shell. He imagines being a world-famous scientist, and Ash and his friends stare at him. Suddenly, they hear the sound of a motorboat, and look to the ocean to see a parasailer flying around. The rope detaches, and the parasailers float over to the lab, crashing onto the deck. They thrash about underneath the tarp for a few seconds, and Westwood asks what's going on. At this, Team Rocket does their motto, tearing off the parachute. They hand Westwood a piece of paper, and he reads off three mock Pokédex entries for Jessie, James, and Meowth. Misty crumples up the paper, and Westwood starts to write about the talking Meowth. It dawns on him that Team Rocket is here for no good, and dashes into the lab. Team Rocket informs him that all they want is his Pokémon, but he says that Slowpoke is the only one he has. Slowpoke walks in, Team Rocket looks at him. Meowth tells Westwood that they'll just evolve Slowbro with Jessie's Shellder, and take him to their boss. Westwood picks up Slowpoke, and dashes outside. He trips, however, and Slowpoke falls to the ground. Jessie sends out Shellder, who chases the now quite fast Slowpoke around in circles.
Misty prepares to send out Starmie, but Psyduck jumps out instead. Shellder clamps down onto Psyduck's tail, who, after a few seconds, runs around in pain. James sends out Weezing, who starts bouncing on Psyduck's head. Jessie throws Shellder at Slowpoke, but he ducks and Shellder clamps onto Psyduck's head. Psyduck yells in pain for a moment, then stops. His eyes start to glow, and Brock points out that Psyduck only uses his special attacks once his headache gets really bad. Psyduck paralyzes Team Rocket with a Disable attack, then floats all of them into the air, including Shellder, with Confusion. Westwood starts to write in his little notebook, when Psyduck suddenly stops. Team Rocket fall to the sand, and Shellder bounces off Psyduck's head. Westwood tells Slowpoke to thank Psyduck, but he slips on Shellder's shell, and Shellder clamps onto his tail. Slowpoke evolves into Slowbro, and Westwood tells Ash and his friends that he is the first researcher to see this happen. Team Rocket runs up to take Slowbro away, and Westwood tells him to attack them. He tells Ash and his friends that Slowbro knows a powerful move called Mega Punch, and commands Slowbro to use it. Unfortunately, Slowbro appears to be suffering from his own attack of Amnesia, and doesn't remember it. Slowbro remembers, just in the nick of time, and punches Team Rocket over the horizon.
Westwood starts to furiously writing in his notebook again, and tells Ash and his friends that he's figured out the mystery. He tells them that it's "mutually beneficial," meaning it's helpful for both Pokémon. He tells them that a Shellder's weight helps balance Slowbro's body out, giving it the ability to use it's upper appendages. Shellder can now travel on land since he's clamped onto Slowbro's tail.
Later, Ash and his friends leave the lab, and Misty tells Ash that he wasted a whole day of training. Ash tells her, however, that this was training. Misty notices that Psyduck is looking dejected, and asks him what's wrong. Ash figures that it's because he wanted to say goodbye to Slowbro, and they go back. They sit and wait as the two Pokémon talk to each other. Judging by the amount of things they're saying, they're going to be waiting a while.

Pokemon Episode 67: Showdown at the Poke Corral

Scenario:
Ash dreams of being at the Pokémon League, with thousands of people cheering him on. He throws a Pokéball, but it grows huge and flies back at him. It opens, and starts to suck him in. Ash wakes up to see Mimie vacuuming his face. He yells at Mr. Mime for doing this, then goes downstairs to greet his mother and friends. He tells his mom what Mr. Mime did, and his mom tells him that Mimie cleans anything that looks dirty. Misty asks Ash if he could go another week without a bath, and Ash tells Mimie to clean the smirk off her face. Mr. Mime just stands there, and Mrs. Ketchum tells her son that he only does things she tells him to do. Brock tells Ash that they'd better eat quick so that they can get to Professor Oak's lab soon.
Meanwhile, Jessie and James dejectedly remind each other how they haven't stolen a single Pokémon, and they approach their Boss's mansion to tell him that they quit. Suddenly, the whole house explodes, and the mysterious Pokémon flies out, shedding its metal gear. Jessie and James notice the Boss picking himself off of the ground, and he asks them why they are here. James is about to answer, when a helicopter lands and picks him up. He tells Jessie and James to do their jobs, and the helicopter takes off. They dash off towards Pallet.
Ash and his friends arrive at Professor Oak's lab, and he welcomes them inside. He takes them into another room, and they see Gary sitting there. Gary says that he's surprised Ash came, and Professor Oak tells them to calm down. He then says that they are both Pallet Town's top trainers, to both of their surprise. He tells them that they will both be Pokémon masters soon. Ash's Krabby approaches with some refreshments, and Ash is happy to see him. Professor Oak reminds Ash that four Pokémon trainers left Pallet, but he and Gary have the most badges. Ash asks about the other two, and Professor Oak tells him that they just didn't have the skill to keep going. He praises Ash and Gary for getting so many badges, and Misty reminds Ash that the Pokémon deserve some credit as well. Ash wonders if they deserve more credit than he does. Professor Oak tells Ash that he can now participate in the Pokémon League. Ash is about to leave when Gary asks him where the League meeting. Unfortunately, he doesn't know, and he begs Gary to tell him. Professor Oak speaks up, saying that they Pokémon League meets atop of Indigo Plateau in about two months, and that there will be over two hundred trainers meeting there. He tells Ash that he and Gary should use this time to train their Pokémon, but Gary says that Ash would never be able to beat him.
Back at Ash's house, Team Rocket, dressed as reporters, ring the doorbell. They tell Mrs. Ketchum that they want to interview Ash for a show called "Pokémon Masters of Tomorrow." Suddenly, Mr. Mime dashes out, and starts sweeping them away. Mrs. Ketchum tells them that Ash is over at Professor Oak's lab. Team Rocket quickly thanks her as they are swept off by Mimie.
Meanwhile, at the lab, Gary asks Ash if he's happy with Krabby. He says yes, and Gary lets out his Krabby, which is much larger. Gary tells Ash that he rotated all his Pokémon so that they'd all get some experience. Brock agrees that that was a good idea, and Misty tells him that Ash always uses the same Pokémon. Professor Oak sits nearby, eating, and Brock tells him that he should intervene. Professor Oak tells him that he's a professor, not a referee, and refuses. Gary continues to dump on Ash about how he hasn't been a very strategic trainer, then asks him how many he caught. Professor Oak stands up from the computer he was working at, and tells Ash and Gary that Ash has seen 60 Pokémon, while Ash has seen over 100. Ash lets out a cheer, but Professor Oak tells him that Gary has caught many more than he did. Gary then tells Ash that he never took the time to check his Pokédex, he just went ahead and caught it. He then tells his grandfather to show Ash exactly how many Pokémon he has. He agrees that this is a good idea, and leads the way.
They enter the lab, and they see shelf upon shelf of Pokéballs. Professor Oak leads them to where Ash's Pokémon are kept, and there are quite a few. However, as Professor Oak points out, most are Tauros from the Safari Zone. He then tells Ash that Gary has caught more than 200 Pokémon. Ash gasps, and Misty concludes that he must've caught more than one of each kind. Gary tells Ash that having many Pokémon is the key to success, but he replies that it's better to make friends with your Pokémon, and make them strong. Professor Oak tells them that they both have very valid points. He tells them that, since they both have different personalities, they raised their Pokémon different ways. He goes on to explain that Pokémon should be treated with care and respect, and should be considered equal to their trainers. He tells them that each and every one of the Pokémon have become part of himself.
Meanwhile, outside somewhere, Team Rocket is making their way towards the research center. James and Meowth complain that they are tired, and Jessie kicks a rock against a tree. Suddenly, several Kakuna come down from the branches. Team Rocket looks at them nervously, and start to run, only to be chased by several Beedrill. They try to get away, but run into a Snorlax blocking the path. The Beedrill close in.
Back at the lab, Professor Oak describes his daily routine. First he checks on the Pokémon to make sure that they are OK, and lets some out to get some fresh air. He feeds them, and in the afternoon, he starts his research. Recently he has been studying the differences between Pokémon of the same species. He tells everyone that he built the reserve especially so that he could study the Pokémon in their natural habitat, and has come up with a new discovery. He tells them that Pokémon frequently take on the personality of the trainers who catch them. This gives Brock an idea. He says that since Susie trained Vulpix, and Vulpix loves him, that means that Susie likes him as well. Gary stares at him and asks what is problem with him. Professor Oak goes on to say that this trait of Pokémon only occurs when they are in frequent contact with their trainers. He tells Ash that, since Muk and Krabby have been staying at the lab, they have become somewhat attached to him. At this, Muk races up and jumps on the professor.
Elsewhere, Team Rocket climb up a mountain. James and Meowth continue to complain, and Jessie puts her hand on a Geodude. She throws him off, but a Sandshrew appears. The Sandshrew scratches her face, and flees. Jessie starts to sob, when a loud rumble is heard. Suddenly, an Onix rises up from the mountain, and starts chasing them.
Misty looks with amazement and the several water Pokémon Professor Oak has, and Ash asks the professor if he has every Pokémon in the world. He says that he does not, as there are some Pokémon people have never seen. Brock agrees, bringing up Togepi as an example. Ash remembers the mysterious bird he saw the day he left on his journey. Ash tells Professor Oak that he wants to find as many new Pokémon as he can, as does Gary. Gary tells Ash that he'll train them to be strong. Ash and Gary look at each other, and Misty wonders if they could maybe be friends. Gary asks Ash if he wants to have a battle, and Ash consents. They are about to start, when a loud explosion is heard from the Electric Pokémon Preserve. They rush over to see several Electrode and Voltorb sitting in a crater, with Team Rocket climbing out. Team Rocket jumps out, and Meowth tells Ash to hand over Pikachu. Professor Oak and Gary stare at Meowth in complete surprise that he can talk. Professor Oak asks him to talk some more, and he says the motto, with Jessie and James, of course. They get annoyed, however, that he is stealing the show, and beat on him a little.
Ash and Gary refuse to hand the Pokémon over, and Gary challenges them. They are about to comply, when a large herd of stampeding Tauros breaks through a fence and butt them into the sky. Professor Oak thanks Ash for saving the Preserve, as all the Tauros were his. Gary tells Ash that he is going to go home, as it's been a long day. He says that he and Ash can battle each other at the Pokémon League, and leaves. Later, Ash and his friends talk about the fact that Ash needs to start training for the Pokémon League, but Professor Oak has other ideas. He hands some boards and nails to them and tells them to work together to fix the fence. After all, he says, working together makes a people to be better friends. They start to work, with Professor Oak looking on.
