Pokemon Episode 118: The Rivalry Revival

Scenario:
Ash and Gary are standing outside of Professor Oak’s lab, where they are on the verge of battle. After glaring intently at each other, Gary challenges Ash to a one-on-one battle, and Ash accepts. Ash sends out Pikachu, while Gary decides to send out a well-trained Eevee. Brock remarks that the Eevee has bright eyes and has a very shiny coat, meaning it must have lots of experience in battle. Tracy agrees, saying it’s probably ready to evolve into one of its evolutions.
Brock steps forward to referee the match, and the battle begins. Ash starts out with a taunt, and after a short argument with Gary, he tells Pikachu to use Quick Attack. Eevee counters with a powerful Reflect attack, and it seems to hardly feel any impact from the attack. Pikachu tries a Thunderbolt attack, but gets confused by Eevee’s Double Team. Gary tells Eevee to use a Take Down attack, and Pikachu narrowly escapes by using Agility. Ash then orders Pikachu to use it’s Thunder, but Eevee knocks it down with a strong Skull Bash before it gets a chance to attack. Pikachu falls heavily on it’s side, and hard as it tries, is unable to get up. Brock proclaims Eevee as the winner, and Ash rushes over to Pikachu and holds it in his arms. Professor Oak praises his grandson on his improvement, and Gary modestly says he has got a lot of improving to do. As Gary heads off towards the west, Ash yells out to him that next time would be different.
Ash and Pikachu are sitting on a rock in Professor Oak’s ranch, watching his Tauros stampede by. Misty leans over Ash and asks him if he would like to know where Gary is. Ash quickly gets up when she tells him that Gary is starting a new journey. Professor Oak scans the G/S ball in his lab that Ash had given him from Professor Ivy. Puzzled, he says out loud that there wasn’t anything his scanners could detect from the ball. Ash and Misty then enter the lab, and Ash rushes over to Professor Oak to ask him about Gary’s journey. Misty asks Professor Oak about the G/S ball, and Tracy gloomily replies that they’ve found out nothing about it. Misty remarks that it’s odd that both Professor Oak and Professor Ivy couldn’t determine anything about the mysterious ball. At the mention of Professor Ivy’s name, Brock goes over in the corner. Tracy whispers to Misty that she better watch what she says around Brock. Ash steps in front of Professor Oak again, and impatiently asks about where Gary had gone. Professor Oak tells him that Gary went out west, to the Johto League. It is supposed to be a very difficult league, where you have to collect 8 badges from gym leaders, much like in Kanto. Professor Oak tells him that Gary is planning on challenging as many trainers as he can, hoping from all the experience he gets he’ll be an even stronger trainer.
Ash and co. head outside, and Ash defiantly says into the wind that he’s going to do that too, and if he’s going to be a Pokémon Master he has to battle with the best. Pikachu jumps on Ash’s shoulder, and with a laugh, Ash says that he knows they can do it.
Misty says with a slight smirk that he’s been getting lazy ever since the Orange League. Before things get worse, Tracy steps in and stops the fight. Brock remarks that Ash and Misty wouldn’t get along without him, and that once he’s around they’ll start training right, eating right, and fighting right. Brock then grabs Ash, and says that he’s back, and points towards what he thinks is west. Misty corrects him, saying west is the opposite direction. Brock gives a small laugh, and says that whichever direction they’re headed, they’re headed for action! Brock and Ash both throw punches at the air, towards where their new adventures lay ahead. Togepi smiles and waves its arms, while Misty says with a slight laugh that she’ll take her own map. Professor Oak appears, and hands Ash back the G/S ball. They head back to Professor Oak’s house, and he tells Ash about a Kurt, a famous Pokéball expert who invented Pokéballs. Professor Oak asks if Ash would take the G/S ball to Azalea Town, where Kurt lives. Misty says in a worried tone that Ash would miss the Johto League. Professor Oak reassures her, saying that the town wouldn’t take Ash out of his way. Professor Oak tells Ash to head west, where he’ll find New Bark Town, where great things await him. Professor Oak remarks that that’s why it’s called "The Town Where New Beginnings Blow". Ironically, a strong breeze blows the window open.
Professor Oak tells Ash that New Bark Town is where trainers sign up for the Johto League. Ash happily says that they’d go there first, and then take the G/S ball to Kurt in Azalea Town. Brock says to Professor Oak that he’d keep an eye on Ash the whole time. Misty remarks slyly that he would watch Ash only if there wasn’t a pretty girl in sight. Brock gives a nervous laugh, and says that he might be a little more interested in girls than geography. Everyone laughs.
The next scene takes place at Ash’s house, where Mrs. Ketchum is packing some "you-know-what" for Ash (his underwear). Ash, Misty, Tracy, and Brock enter the room. Mrs. Ketchum explains that Professor Oak called her and told her about Ash’s new journey, so she decided to pack up Ash’s backpack. Misty comments that the Johto League would have lots of new adventures. Brock jumps forward and says hurriedly to Mrs. Ketchum that Mr. Mime would fill in for his absence. She smiles, and says that she better get to work on a farewell supper. Ash is taken aback by his mother’s over enthusiasm, but all of his friends can’t wait for the huge dinner. Brock goes off to get some food for the dinner, after fighting with Mr. Mime briefly. In his haste, he forgets the grocery list and Mrs. Ketchum sends Ash out to give Brock the list.
Team Rocket comes limping up the path towards Pallet Town, when they meet up with Gary Oak. After performing their routine motto, Gary just walks on as if nothing had happened. Their spirits low, Team Rocket head on towards Pallet Town. Meanwhile, Ash, Mrs. Ketchum, Professor Oak, Misty, Tracy, and Brock are eating the huge dinner that Brock had prepared. After gulping down the food, Misty accidentally mentions Professor Ivy, and Brock does his routine of sitting in the corner and saying, "Don’t say that name!" Professor Oak hands Ash a brand new Pokédex, with information on all of the new Pokémon in Johto. Tracy then announces that he’ll be staying in Pallet Town as Professor Oak’s assistant. He says thankfully to Ash that he had taught him to go for his dreams. Suddenly, two suspicious looking reporters barge into the room. They start reporting on Ash’s journey, while sampling some of the homemade food. The female reporter spots Pikachu, and decides to get a close up on it with the camera. The "camera" closes in on Pikachu, and it’s caught in the fake camera. As they break through the window, the two fake reporters reveal themselves as Team Rocket. Mr. Mime uses a Lightscreen to protect Mrs. Ketchum’s garden, and temporarily stops Team Rocket. Ash & co. catch up with Team Rocket, and tell Pikachu to use its Thundershock, but it does nothing to the rubberized cage. Tracy sends out Scyther, and it with it’s amazing speed it rushes over to Pikachu and cuts it free with Slash. Pikachu attacks Jesse and James with Thunderbolt, and then Tracy’s Marill finishes them off with Water Gun. Team Rocket goes blasting off again! After congratulating their Pokémon, everyone goes off to bed. Ash talks to Pikachu about the Johto League, and then falls asleep. Bright and early the next morning, Ash, Misty, and Brock say their farewells to Tracy, Professor Oak, and Mrs. Ketchum. Then they head off into the horizon, where the Johto League lays.

Pokemon Episode 117: A Tents Situation

Scenario:
Ash, Misty, and Tracey have finally made it back to Pallet Town. Tracey can barely contain his excitement to see Professor Oak. Ash suggests that he show the professor some of his sketches and turns to see Tracey sitting among a large pile of sketchpads. Ash tells him to do that at his house and Misty adds that they can have lunch as well. Tracey agrees and the three start running towards Ash's house. When they reach it, Ash hesitates then goes in. It's dark and he calls out that he's home. A familiar voice sounds from inside the kitchen and Ash runs in to see whom it is. Much to his surprise, it's Brock! Ash is taken off guard and skids into the wall. Misty and Tracey dash in and Brock greets the two of them. He then offers everyone some tea (Indigo Oolong). Ash and Misty ask Brock whey he's back in Pallet Town, and we flashback to the scene where the two left Brock with Professor Ivy. Brock curls up into a fetal position, however, and refuses to say anything except mumble "That Name!" Misty concludes that he was dumped.
Just then, Ash's mom comes in and Ash and Pikachu run to greet her. She says hello to Pikachu first then Ash. Then she asks Misty how Togepi has been doing and says hello to Tracey. Misty asks her how long Brock has been in Pallet Town and she tells them that about a week ago she and Mr. Mime had been walking home from the market when they heard a strange noise. They looked around then went back and heard the noise again. They walked around in circles and kept hearing the strange noise until they realized it was coming from someone they were stepping on. Mrs. Ketchum apologized and then noticed that it was Brock. She continues by telling them whenever she mentioned Professor Ivy's name, he kept doing the same thing he did moments ago.
Suddenly, Brock runs by and starts to try to grab a broom from Mr. Mime's hands. Mrs. Ketchum says that they argue about who gets to do the chores a lot. Ash sighs, saying that they'll never know what happened. Misty interjects, repeating her opinion that Professor Ivy dumped Brock. When he doesn't understand, she tells him that sometimes he's just as immature as Gary. Ash then goes into the same position that Brock had earlier. Mrs. Ketchum suggests that she make some deep-dish chilidog pizza-pot pies and Ash eagerly agrees. They talk about what more to have when Tracey, who has been trying to ask Ash something for the past few minutes, yells at him. There is an awkward pause, and then Mrs. Ketchum asks Tracey if there's something he'd like to ask. Stammering, Tracey apologizes for yelling and says that he was wondering when they were going to see Professor Oak. Ash remembers the G/S Ball and takes it out of his backpack, along with the trophy he got for winning the Orange League Championship. He gives it to his mom, who happily accepts it saying that now she won't have to buy another dumbbell to work out. Everyone facefaults, then Tracey eagerly asks to go to the lab.
They set off down the path to Oak's house and as they walk, Tracey asks Brock if he was excited when he first met the professor. Brock curls up into a ball again until Misty reminds him that Tracey was talking about Oak, not Ivy. Brock gets up and says that he was, mainly because his lab is one of the best in the world. Excited even more, Tracey starts to run towards Oak's lab, with the others soon behind. Meanwhile, Team Rocket watches from the grass. James tells Meowth that they should call their boss, but Meowth tells him that it wouldn't work out to well since they haven't caught a single Pokémon. James then notices that Brock is with them, and they wonder why he's back.
Moments later, the group reaches Oak's lab. They go in and look around for a minute to find him. Suddenly, Muk comes barreling around a corner and jumps onto Ash. Professor Oak is soon behind and Muk soon jumps onto him too. Tracey introduces himself and starts to sketch the scene, but Ash asks him to stop. Oak stands up, muttering about how he's getting old, and says hello to Pikachu and Togepi. He also tells Brock that Professor Ivy sends him her best regards but, unsurprisingly, he curls up once again. Tracey reminds Ash about the G/S Ball and Ash gives it to Oak, apologizing about how long it took. Oak says that he'll start to examine it later that night.
He takes them into his PokéBall storage room and sets the G/S Ball on the shelf. He tells Tracey that most of them are from trainers that started out in Pallet Town then asks them if they want a tour. He takes them outside and Ash quickly sees his Snorlax, who's eating apples from a tree. It then falls over and goes to sleep. Tracey sees a cloud of dust a ways away and asks what it's coming from and asks Ash what they are. He tells him that they are all of his Tauros then sends out the one he used in the Orange League Championships to join the others. Just then, Kingler walks by, greets Ash, and then jumps into a pond.
Professor Oak walks up to Tracey, who's drawing a sketch of the Tauros and asks him about his pictures. Tracey tells him that he'd picked out some of his best sketches and asks Oak if he could take a look at them. Oak agrees and takes them back inside. He gives them all some tea and sits down with Tracey's pads. As he looks at them, Tracey sits across the table shaking with nervousness. It gets so bad that the whole sofa starts to vibrate and Ash and Misty tell him to calm down. Brock asks Oak what he thinks the sketches and he starts to whisper his opinion when a loud rumbling sounds from outside.
The whole group looks out the window and sees that something is covering the building. The shot goes outside and we see Team Rocket's balloon hovering overhead with a large canvas surrounding the house. Team Rocket cackles, saying that Pikachu and the Pokémon in the storage room won't be able to get away. Ash and the rest run outside and see the three Rockets up on a tightrope set up. They do their motto, then jump down and ask Brock what he's doing back in Pallet, mentioning Professor Ivy's name. Brock somehow jumps onto the rope with James's parasol and starts to sulk.
Jessie tells Ash and the rest to just hand over all their Pokémon and they'll leave, but Ash refuses. He starts to send out Bulbasaur, but Muk comes over and tells him that it wants to battle. Jessie sends out Lickitung, but Muk goes right by it and jumps onto Jessie. Oak tells her that Muk is fond of humans and doesn't care what type of human it is. James sends out Victreebel, but it jumps on to him. Muk then jumps onto both. A Razor Leaf has no effect, so Victreebel sucks on Muk, getting most of it inside. James and Ash both order a Poison attack at the same time, and since Muk is clogging up Victreebel's only opening none of it can escape. Victreebel gets badly poisoned because of this and jumps off.
Jessie attacks with Lickitung, but that doesn't have any effect on Muk either. Finally, a Sleep Powder attack from Victreebel is able to subdue the gloopy Pokémon. Ash is about to send out Bulbasaur and Squirtle when Jessie and James toss some rings onto them. The rings tighten and bows appear. A vacuum hose descends from above and Team Rocket starts to suck up all of the PokéBalls from Oak's storage room. Tracey's sketches fly out of the window as well, soon followed by the G/S Ball.
Suddenly, the tent is ripped open. Jigglypuff, who has been trying to get in the entire time, gets thrown into the air and over the horizon. The canvas falls to the ground and the balloon soon follows. A cloaked figure stands next to a Nidoqueen. The figure reveals himself to be Gary and tells Nidoqueen to attack. Lickitung lunges, but Nidoqueen grabs its tongue and hits Team Rocket with it. It Mega Punches Victreebel who slams the entire group into a tree. Jessie throws Meowth in, but its Scratch attack does nothing. Nidoqueen uses Strength and Team Rocket is heaved into the air and out of the episode.
Nidoqueen then frees Professor Oak and the rest. Oak thanks him and Brock and Misty comment on how stronger a trainer he's become. Not wanting to be outdone, Ash tries to say how he's still a better trainer by saying how he won in the Orange League and did better in the Indigo League. Gary tells him that he's a lot better trainer than he used to be, so Ash challenges him to match. Everyone gasps as the two face off. Who will be the victor?? .

Pokemon Episode 116: The Underground Round Up

Scenario:
After leaving Lapras with its mother, Ash, Misty, and Tracey reach Hamlin Island in hopes of finding a ferry that'll take them back to Pallet Town. Excited, Ash tells the gang that he can't wait for one of his mom's special deep-dish chili dog and pizza pot pies. Tracey is also eager to meet Professor Oak in person. Coming across the bridge leading to the island with their ticket back home, Ash sees a sign warning him that it's too dangerous to cross. Ignoring the warning, the group decides to continue. However, they suddenly see an explosion, changing their mind.
The gang gets to the island via rowboat, and they arrive in what seems like a ghost town. Ash manages to find the ferry station, but the door to the pier is locked. While Ash, Misty, and Tracey are preoccupied with their worries, Togepi wanders outside and finds a Voltorb in an alleyway. Moments later, Misty notices her missing Pokémon and sets off to find it. She finds Togepi playing with Voltorb. Knowing that Voltorbs can explode without warning, Misty tries to take Togepi, but it won't let go of its new friend. Ash tells her to be careful because he has a feeling that they're not alone. Tracey agrees, and the group sees a pack of Electrode closing in on them. Realizing that they're about to explode, Ash decides to escape. However, a gust of wind knocks down a nearby sign, aggravating the Electrode and causing them to self-destruct, creating a huge chain reaction. The group runs away and comes to an intersection, where they're surrounded. As the gang loses all hope, a man dressed in a poncho sends out a group of Diglett. His Diglett start to dig tunnels under the Electrode, shielding the team from the blast. Afterward, the man asks Ash and the others to follow him into a nearby building.
Inside, Tracey asks the man why the island is deserted, and the he explains that many tourists and visitors used to come here. However, a few years ago, an inventor started using Voltorb as an experiment to generate electricity. One day it got loose from the lab, multiplying and later evolving into Electrode. The Pokémon population started to grow, so the town got overcrowded. The Electrode became irritated and eventually they blew up, scaring everyone off the island. Ash asks about the Pallet Town ferry, and the man tells him that it's been out of service. Ash then accuses him of being a thief because he's alone in an abandoned city. Misty yells at Ash telling him to apologize, but the man says that he's not a thief, and his name is Poncho, a Diglett rancher. He tells Ash that somewhere on the island there's an open field where the Electrode aren't crowded together and can live happy. He trains his Diglett to dig tunnels under the Electrode so that they can guide and send them to the field. Although Poncho's methods are better, he tells the gang that the people of the island are complaining that his way is too slow and cost-efficient. A phone call from the mayor interrupts their conversation, and Poncho learns that he only has one more day to round up the Electrode or he's off the team. Someone else has been hired to replace Poncho.
A rumbling occurs, and the team runs out to investigate. There is a giant machine, and Team Rocket appears. Meowth shows Poncho his contract and introduces him to the Electrode Eliminator; a machine designed to make Electrode explode, rendering them helpless and easy to capture. Jessie, James, and Meowth get to work, and their plan succeeds. Unable to do anything, the group watches as Team Rocket attacks the Electrode one by one. The Electrode decide to group up and confront Team Rocket's machine, surrounding it. Having seen enough, Voltorb tries to help its kinfolk. Jessie decides to catch the Voltorb too. Trying to protect its friend, Togepi uses Metronome, but it fails. However, Voltorb still manages to dodge Team Rocket's mechanical arms. Togepi runs over and stands next to Voltorb. Soon after, Pikachu joins them. He uses a Thunderbolt on Team Rocket's machine, but Meowth says that it's shockproof. Team Rocket prepares to run over Pikachu, Togepi, and Voltorb.
Having seen enough, Poncho sends out his Dugtrio, which makes a giant crater under Team Rocket's machine, plunging them to underground tunnel system. With Team Rocket gone, Poncho calls out his Diglett to finish the job. The Electrode are sent underground, and Team Rocket is carried away with the group.
The Electrode reach the meadow, and coming in from a Diglett balloon, the group sees that this is the perfect home for them. Voltorb decides to stay with the Electrode too, which saddens Togepi. Togepi cries, but Misty tell it that sometimes friends have to say goodbye, but when they're gone they can still be friends in their heart.
As the city is restored, Tracey, Misty, and Ash prepare to board the ferry. Poncho tells them that the mayor gave him a key to the city and a big bonus. Poncho says, "We sure showed that Team Rocket." and Misty tells Poncho that that's something a movie hero would say. Blushing, Poncho says that he'll never be a movie hero, but Ash tells him that he's their hero. As the gang heads back to Pallet Town, they bid farewell to the Orange Islands and take a look at their bright futures ahead of them.

Pokemon Episode 115: Viva Las Lapras

Scenario:
Ash, Misty, and Tracey are yet again riding on Lapras as it propels them towards the next island. Since Ash has won the championship (he's still gazing at the trophy in awe), they're heading back to Pallet Town. Suddenly, Lapras turns sharply and swims rapidly in a different direction. In the distance, Ash and his friends spot a large school of Lapras. As Tracey sketches, the idea comes to him that these Lapras could be the school that Ash's Lapras had gotten separated from months ago. Ash thinks back to that time when they first met and he had to earn its trust. He then remembers his promise to help it find its family again.
As Lapras draws closer, however, the school of Lapras looks at it and hurriedly starts to swim away. One lighter colored Lapras looks back, but another larger Lapras pushes it along. Ash yells at them for abandoning their friend and the larger Lapras sprays a Water Gun at them. Tracey notes how unusual this is, as Lapras don't usually attack humans in the wild. The larger Lapras then uses Mist and the school swims into the distance. Devastated, Ash's Lapras calls out one more time in tears
When Ash and his friends get to the next island, they call Professor Oak and ask him what he thought. He agreed that it was unusual and concludes that the Lapras were afraid of people for some reason. When Misty asks who would do such a thing, Officer Jenny comes up behind them saying that it could be pirates. She explains that the area around the island is a Pokémon No-Capture Zone but that a group of pirates have been poaching in the area. She says that they call the lead pirate Captain Crook. Ash tells her that this sounds like the work of Team Rocket and tells Jenny about the three.
Suddenly, voices ring out from behind the emergency room doors of the Pokémon Center. The doors open and reveal a very bandaged trio who do their motto but then curl up into a fetal position. Ash yells at them for poaching, but they tell him and the rest that it wasn't their doing. In fact, they're in the hospital because of Captain Crook and his gang. They tell about how one of his cannonballs exploded their sub out of the water and into a cliff. Ash tells them that they deserved it to which James and Meowth agree (only to be hit by Jessie's crutch). Officer Jenny tells them to come down to the station and fill out a report and check on their own file, but they run off, saying that they've been miraculously cured.
Meanwhile, the school of Lapras is swimming near the island. The lighter colored one from before is looking at it sadly, but the larger one, apparently the leader, swims in front of it and shakes its head. As they start to swim away, Captain Crook and his crew sight them. Crook tells his first mate to ready their "secret weapons."
Ash and his friends set off to catch up with the school, as they don't want to give up. Tracey asks Ash how he intends to let the Lapras know that they are friends. Ash tells them that all he'll have to do is put on a friendly face and everything will be fine. Misty suggests that they just tell them.
By this time, Captain Crook has caught up with the Lapras. He fires the cannons and out fly PokéBalls. When they land in the water, Tentacruel pop out. The Tentacruel use Poison Sting, but the attack is deflected by the lead Lapras's Water Gun. Crook fires more PokéBalls and more Tentacruel pop up in front of the Lapras. As Ash and his friends draw closer, they see the ship attacking the Lapras. Misty realizes that the pirates are forcing the Tentacruel to bully the Lapras. Tracey sends out Marill and they swim back to the island to get Officer Jenny.
As Ash and Misty surge closer on Lapras, Team Rocket propels their sub underneath them. They want to see Ash and Misty get paralyzed by the pirates and then steal Pikachu.
The Lapras are now completely surrounded by Tentacruel and look very worried. Crook orders a Poison Sting but just before they attack Pikachu shocks everything (including the Lapras and Ash and Misty). The Tentacruel get really angry and swim over, but Crook's ship sails between the two. Crook fires the cannons with real cannonballs this time, but Lapras is able to dodge them all. Ash and Misty send out all their water Pokémon who all use Water Gun and really smashes up the ship. Crook orders another round of cannon fire, but his mate tells them that they're all out. Crook stuffs him in a cannon and fires him into the water instead but, needless to say, it doesn't do much.
Meanwhile, Ash tries to aggravate the Tentacruel into attacking them instead of the Lapras. He manages to do so, and the Tentacruel start to chase them. Ash shouts to the Lapras to make their getaway now, but they seem reluctant to do so, especially the lighter colored one (I'm starting to think that that Lapras is Ash's Lapras's mother or something). While Team Rocket pedals right behind Ash, Jessie laughs about how their plan is working. James gives her an unfortunate reminder: if the Tentacruel are chasing Ash and Team Rocket is behind him, the Tentacruel will get to them first. As if on cue, a Tentacruel slams into the sub and it is flung into the air.
During this time, Misty has been able to round up everyone on the boat. She tells Captain Crook to call of his Tentacruel, but he refuses. The Tentacruel surround Ash and prepare to attack. Lapras hits a few with Water Gun, but then they all use Supersonic. Ash covers his ears in pain and Pikachu and Lapras are unable to fight as well. Suddenly, the Tentacruel are frozen on the spot by the school of Lapras. They swim up and Lapras and its mom nuzzle each other.
Later on, after Officer Jenny has arrived and arrested the men as well as Team Rocket. Misty tells the Tentacruel that they are free to go and they happily swim away.
Ash tells Lapras that its time to join its group. They both think back to the times they had and how important Lapras was on Ash's journey through the Orange Islands. Lapras dives under the water and lifts its trainer onto the boat. Ash gives it one more goodbye, and it swims over to its mother. As they swim away, Ash and his friends say goodbye. Ash's promise has been fulfilled

Pokemon Episode 114: Enter The Dragonite

Scenario:
Continued from Hello Pummelo!: After the devastating collision of Lapras and Gengar's attacks, everyone awaits to see who stands victorious. As the dust clears away, the battle field comes into view. Both Gengar and Lapras are unable to battle after the repercussion. After the trainers recall their incapacitated Pokémon, the terrain changes to a sandy desert terrain. Drake calls out Venusaur while Ash calls out Tauros. Tauros tries to start out with a Fissure attack, but it doesn’t work because the sand absorbs the impact. Venusaur tries to do a solar beam, but Tauros hits him with a takedown, knocking the Venusaur in the air. From there Venusaur flips over upside down launching his solar beam. Tauros gets pushed to the side and attempts another takedown, but is stopped by Venusaur’s vine whip. Tauros then tries yet another takedown (but this time he is pissed off), he pushes through Venusaur’s vine whips and hits Venusaur for a victory. Ash has now defeated 4 of Drake’s Pokémon and still has 5 left to battle.
Drake sends out Electabuzz, and Ash decides to send out a fresh Pokémon so he sends out Bulbasaur. Electabuzz hits Bulbasaur with a thunder attack, and Bulbasaur counterattacks with razor leaf. Electabuzz attempts a Thunder Punch while Bulbasaur tackles him. Unfortunately, Electabuzz gets off a Thunder Punch and knocks Bulbasaur unconscious. Ash sends out Charizard, and Electabuzz hits him with a Thunder Punch then a Thunder attack. Then Charizard counters with a Ember attack and Electabuzz tries another Thunder Punch but Charizard performs a Seismic Toss and defeats Electabuzz. Ash has now beat 5 of Drake’s Pokémon while Ash still has only 4.
Drake thinks that he has underestimated the level of Charizard but says it won’t stand a chance against his ultimate Pokémon. He removes the Pokéball from his necklace and sends out Dragonite. Charizard attempts a Flamethrower, but it is countered by Dragonite’s watergun. The watergun busts through Charizards attack and hits charizard. Dragonite charges up for a Ice Beam, but Charizard flies and dodges all the frozen beams of ice. Dragonite flies up with incredible speed and attempts another ice beam, while Charizard dodges it and tries a flamethrower. Charizard goes into a ‘dizzy’ spin to avoid Dragonite’s ice beams. Next Charizard attempts another seismic toss, but Dragonite grabs on to Charizards back and uses a slam. Ash says, its time for something special, and summons a Dragon Rage. Charizard and Dragonite both perform Dragon Rage, causing a huge explosion. After the dust fades away, they stand there, but Charizard falls down. This is the first of Dragonite’s victims, as Ash says that Charizard’s job was just to weaken Dragonite, and sends out Squirtle.
Squirtle starts out with a hydropump, but gets taken Dragonite’s Watergun. Squirtle gets knocked to the floor and does a withdraw as Dragonite hits him with a Thunder attack. After the attack is over, Squirtle comes out and tries out a Bubble attack. Dragonite at first starts getting damaged by the Bubbles but then hits Squirtle with his tail beating him. Ash now only has 2 Pokémon. Team Rocket takes this time to attempt to capture Dragonite, because it is looking tired. Dragonite flies and breaks TR’s balloon. After this little scuffle, Ash sends out Tauros and tells him to do a takedown, but Dragonite flies into the air. Ash tells Tauros to just stop while Dragonite takesdown. Tauros absorbs the shock from the sand and Dragonite is also stuck on Tauros’ horns. Tauros throws Dragonite a few feet and Dragonite hits Tauros with a Thunder Attack, beating Tauros.
Ash’s only hope is Pikachu. Pikachu charges up and charges Dragonite with Ability. Dragonite wacks Pikachu and launches him into the air. Pikachu falls to the ground and gets up. Then Dragonite powers up for a hyperbeam, and Pikachu uses his tail to push himself into the air dodging the hyperbeam. Pikachu falls from high up in the sky and lands on Dragonite’s head. Dragonite tries his hardest to shake Pikachu off. Pikachu sends a Thunder attack through Dragonites body, then jumps off onto the ground. The two stare at each other, but Dragonite falls to the floor. Leaving Ash as the victor!... Ash gets Orange League Cup. Each of the Pokémon and Ash place their hand/appendage print in a stone and is placed in Hall of Heroes. The episode ends with ash saying "Wait till Brock Sees This!"....yes...

Pokemon Episode 113: Hello Pummelo

Scenario:
Ash and his buddies are heading toward Pemmelo Island to battle the Orange League Crew Leader. On the way to his battle, he sees a mystical figure flying over the ocean. It appears to be a Dragonite, yet Ash, Tracey, and Misty are too inexperienced to realize this. Ash reaches the island and goes to the Orange League registration. The teller verifies his badges and then tells him that his battle is in the morning tomorrow. He leads them to a dome next to the stadium. In the dome there are Dragonite statues. The teller tells Tracey that the Dragonite statues symbolize the Dragonites that protect the island, but the one that they saw was the Dragonite that Drake, the Orange Crew Leader, has. Also, in the dome there are many photos and foot prints of Pokémon and their trainers. This place is called the hall of heroes. It is where all the victors who beat the Orange League foot prints are stored forever and ever.
Jesse and James appear in the stadium where Drake sits with his Dragonite. Jesse and James want to capture Dragonite, but Dragonite uses a hyper-beam, thus vaporizing them. Ash finds out that he may use all his Pokémon in the battle. He sends them all out to make sure they are in working condition. Snorlax is sleeping and refuses to wake up. Nurse Joy exclaims that Snorlax, since he just ate, will not be waking up any time soon. Ash walks over to the telephone and asks Professor Oak what Pokémon he should exchange for Snorlax. The Professor gives him the choice of Tauros, Muk, or Kingler. Ash picks Tauros because he believes in "Beginners Luck".
A car drives around town exclaiming that Drake will be battling tomorrow and that the admission is free. Team Rocket, being beached out from the hyper-beam, hear of this and make a plan. Of course, no one can here it because they are whispering. The tournament begins with the exchange of handshakes between Ash and Drake. The referee explains that the Gym Leader may not change Pokémon until they are dead, but the Challenger may change his Pokémon at anytime. He also says that there will be a field change sometime during the battle, most likely in the middle.
Drake sends out a Ditto, so Ash sends out Pikachu. Pikachu uses a thunderbolt and so does Ditto. They battle and Pikachu is thrown on the ground. Ash groans in frustration. Ash thinks in his mind that the fake Pikachu is no match for the real thing. Ditto uses a thunder shock but Pikachu diverts that shock by raising his tail as a lighting rod. Ditto uses quick attack and so does Pikachu. They both meet in the battle and Pikachu slams Ditto to the ground. Pikachu uses lighting tail and knocks Ditto out of the match. Being reassured, Ash is determined to win the match.
Drake takes this loss as a minor set back. He sends out Onix. Seeing the advantage, Ash sends out a water-type Pokémon, Squirtle. Drake sees by this and tells Onix to dig into the ground. Ash tells Squirtle to run toward the center of the field, which is a pond of water. Onix pops out of the ground right before Squirtle is able to dive into the water. Onix then binds Squirtle. Squirtle is being squished by the bind, but Ash tells Squirtle to withdrawal. Squirtle then uses hydro-pump and takes Onix out of the match. Squirtle returns to the Pokéball.
The competition is currently being won by Ash. Drake sends out Gengar, a ghost Pokémon. There is no disadvantage Gengar is vulnerable to. Tauros is then sent out to battle this Pokémon. Tauros uses fissure, but Gengar avoids that by flying. Gengar sees how weak Tauros is and he uses confusion. Tauros runs into the rocks and is forced to return to his Pokéball. Lapras flies out of Ash's Pokéball and into the pond. Lapras uses watergun, but it has no effect. Gengar uses hypnosis, but Lapras dives under the water where the psychic waves are impenetrable. Lapras pops back up and Gengar sees this perfect opportunity to attack, so he uses dreameater. Ash tells Lapras to use ice beam to avoid the dreameater. The two attacks collide and a huge explosion occurs.

Pokemon Episode 112: The Stun Spore Detour

Scenario:
The episode starts with Ash and Pikachu looking over the sea, imagining the upcoming battle in the Orange League. They do a little gazing at the four badges pinned to the inside of Ash's jacket. A big wave splashes over them both, stunning them back into reality, so they both start walking back. On the way, Ash and Pikachu see Tracey making some sketches of a huge Vileplume. Ash calls out and runs towards the Vileplume, but he trips on a tree root, and smashes into Tracey. They both are all tangled up when they fall into the Vileplume's center. The shocked Vileplume suddenly uses Stun Spore while both guys are stuck in its center, so they get the full blast of it.
Misty and Togepi are walking along another path when Pikachu runs out from under a bush, calling out frantically. From Pikachu's frantic cries for help, Misty realizes that something's wrong.
Next scene, Ash and Tracey are laying down on mats on the floor of a small hut, covered with blankets. Both are shuddering from the Stun Spore encounter. Misty's dabbing wet cloths over both their heads, when Tracey (without his headband on, I might add) calls out to Misty, and tells her to get Ash's Pokédex out of his jacket. She goes and retrieves the Dex, and Tracey tells her to look up Vileplume antidotes. The Dex says that a special weed called Sangora Weed, which is found at the bottom of lakes, can help cure Stun Spore if boiled in water. Also, the weed is found wherever Poliwags are found. So leaving Pikachu behind to help Ash and Tracey, Misty takes off towards a nearby lake.
Meowth and James are in a different hut with Jessie lying on the ground. She too is blanketed and shaking. In a flashback, it depicts Jessie running in a flowery field. She leaps into the air, but lands headfirst into a Vileplume, who then uses Stun Spore. End of flashback. Meowth and James are wondering what to do, when James remembers that once when he was little, he got Stun Spored, and he was cured with Sangora Weed tea, which was the weed boiled in water. So leaving Jessie in the hut, they both take off.
Misty is searching amongst some lake weeds, but finding no Sangora weed. Frustrated, she sits down and takes a break. But just then, a Poliwag pops out of the lake and leaps on a rock, a sprig of Sangora Weed on its tail. Misty is delightfully surprised, and is about to ask the Poliwag to help, when James and Meowth appear, and try to capture Poliwag. It hides behind Misty as James and Meowth approach. They say they are there for Poliwag, because it is needed to find some Sangora Weed to help Jessie. A battle commences, but is ended quickly as James and Meowth fall down the side of a cliff. Finally able to talk, Misty asks Poliwag to locate some Sangora Weed, and Poliwag leads her down to the lake bottom, where Sangora Weed grows plentifully. Harvesting an armful, Misty and Togepi start running back towards the hut where they had left Ash and Tracey. James and Meowth are trying to find a way to get some Sangora Weed from Misty, and they get the idea to try and temp Misty into a trap with things such as cosmetics, dresses, and food, but nothing works, because Misty's resolve is to help her friends. Another encounter between the Rockets and Misty occurs again, and Poliwag, who has been following Misty all this time, Water Guns them away. Misty leaves a heap of weed in the path where she knows that James and Meowth will find it, and runs for the hut.
Meowth and James stumbles onto the path where Misty just was, and find the Sangora Weed in the path. They start saying some praise about her, that the two other twerps are lucky to have that twerp care for them so much. They take the weed and run back to their hut. Misty boils the weed, and gives the tea to Ash and Tracey, who both say thanks. The tea seems to work, because both guys are able to move around. Back in the other hut, Jessie receives the tea, and is also better. She realizes that if two of the twerps are ill, it would make them easy pickings, and drags the reluctant James and Meowth towards where Misty, Tracey, and Ash are. Meanwhile the two sick boys are finally going outside for some fresh air, when Jessie appears suddenly and says the speech. Everyone's on alert, but James and Meowth are hiding behind a boulder, too ashamed to even appear, while Jessie's shouting at them to appear and help her attack. James and Meowth pick her up and run off, with Meowth saying 'Thank you, oops I mean Team Rocket's blasting off again!'
Poliwag rubs up against Misty, even though she said that they all have to leave the island, but since Poliwag is so insistent on coming along, Misty captures it, and it becomes another one of her Pokémon.

Pokemon Episode 111: The Wacky Watcher

Scenario:
Admiring his newly earned Jade Star Badge, Ash heads for the Orange League Competition with his friends Misty and Tracey. Tracey collects a sample of salt water from the ocean stating that it's strictly for Pokémon research purposes. Seeing something moving underneath them, Pikachu turns the group's attention to the large shadowy figure underwater. Suddenly, they're confronted with a submarine, and inside it is a man who informs Ash that they're just in time for "one of the most astounding scenes ever seen on the seas." Moments later, large schools of Magikarp pass by. Noticing the colored bands on the Magikarp's tail, Tracey tells Ash and Misty that the Magikarp are probably headed for Rind Island. The group decides to investigate.
Arriving at the shore, Ash and the others soon find the Magikarp swimming upstream. They also see the man they saw in the submarine carrying heavy supplies and equipment. He gives everybody something to hold, and tells our heroes to follow him. Misty asks for the man's name, and he replies by saying he's Quincy T. Quackenpoker, a Pokémon Watcher who's dedicated to the study of Magikarp. Tracey recognizes the famous doctor, and tries to make a quick sketch of the Magikarp hoping to learn something out of it. Instead, he gets a splash in the face, and Quackenpoker suggests that next time Tracey should use a waterproof pen.
Exhausted from their long hike, Ash and Misty decide to take a break as Quackenpoker analyzes the Magikarp in the river. He explains to Tracey that the Magikarp born on Rind Island swim out to sea to mature, but every year they return to their birthplace, no matter the circumstances. He also adds that the colored bands on the Magikarp's tail tell him how long ago they left this island. Red ones left 1 year ago, blue ones left 2 years, and the yellow ones left 3 years ago. Noticing that he's also a Pokémon Watcher, Quackenpoker asks if he can take a look at Tracey's sketchbook. He agrees, and Quackenpoker says that Tracey has a great future ahead of him.
Unknown to the group, Team Rocket is spying on them nearby. James and Meowth decide that the Magikarp aren't worth stealing, and capturing Pikachu should be their objective, but Jessie tells them of her "master plan". If they train the Magikarp enough, it would evolve into Gyarados. And with an army of Gyarados, Team Rocket would be the Pokémon Masters of the world. James rebukes saying that they haven't had much luck with Gyarados, but Jessie enlightens him and their decision is final.
Continuing down the river, Ash, Misty, Tracey, and Quackenpoker find an astounding sight. They see the Magikarp swimming up a series of waterfalls. Ash doesn't understand the logic behind this, but Tracey tells him that it's to build up their strength, much like Pokémon training. Quackenpoker adds that 50% of the Magikarp won't make it up the falls, and those who don't will keep trying until they are able to. Armed with fishing nets, Team Rocket prepares to seize the Magikarp swimming upstream. James tells Jessie that it would be easier to use Pokéballs, but Jessie explains to him that Pokéballs cost money: something they don't have. James catches a Magikarp, but it soon escapes. Team Rocket grabs the runaway fish, who has already made it's way back to the water. Jessie, James, and Meowth are soon dragged down the waterfall with the Magikarp in their grasp.
Hearing Team Rocket's cry, Ash suggests that someone might be in trouble. Not hearing anything, Quackenpoker says that they'll be the ones in trouble if he doesn't see the Magikarp evolve. Shocked to know that they'll soon be seeing Gyarados, the team heads over to a lake, where they set up camp. During suppertime, Quackenpoker comments on how he's never seen such an everlasting relationship between Ash and Pikachu. He also comments on Togepi, and how it likes to be tickled on it's front spike. Tracey notices that Magikarp isn't the only Pokémon that interests Quackenpoker, and he responds, "All Pokémon interest me, but Magikarp are my favorites by far. When I was a boy, I woke up one morning and I saw a Magikarp in my pajamas. How a Magikarp got in my pajamas, I'll never know."
That night, while everyone else was asleep, Tracey tells Quackenpoker his theory on why the Magikarp jumps in and out of the water. He says that perhaps they use the position of the sun to help them find their way to Rind Island. Quackenpoker turns Tracey's theory down by saying that some of the Magikarp that cannot jump can still find their way back home.
The Magikarp start to jump franticly, waking up Ash and Misty. Quackenpoker says that when that happens, something exciting is about to occur. The waters turn rough, and Team Rocket's submarine appears. They begin to capture the Magikarp one by one. After stealing an abundant number of them, Meowth starts to notice that they're sinking. Realizing that the fish are weighing them down, James releases several Magikarp in attempt to balance out the weight. The submarine docks in front of our heroes, and Jessie and James make their dramatic appearance. Bored, the gang waits for Team Rocket to finish their motto. Quackenpoker demands that they release the Magikarp, but Jessie says that they have to capture them like they did. With Magikarp in hand, Jessie, James, and Meowth start to bombard the team with falling fish; forcing Ash, Tracey, and Pikachu to catch them. While Ash is preoccupied, Meowth activates a button and encases Pikachu in a glass jar. Ash commands Pikachu to use a Thunderbolt, but Quackenpoker stops him saying that he'll injure the Magikarp. Ash decides to use Bulbasaur to try and grab Pikachu's cage with a Vine Whip. Bulbasaur slaps James in the forehead, but is unsuccessful at grabbing Pikachu. Recovering from the Vine Whip, James wakes up with a Magikarp stuck on his head. Jessie and Meowth try to pull it off, but they have no luck. Seeing that they'll soon pull the Magikarp's head off, Quackenpoker climbs to the top of the submarine and starts rubbing Magikarp gently until it lets go. While Team Rocket is celebrating from the incident, Ash secretly takes Pikachu back and heads for the shore. Ash frees Pikachu from the jar, and the Magikarp in Quackenpoker's arms starts to glow. Aware of what is going to happen next, Quackenpoker releases the Magikarp as it swims to the middle of the lake, turning the water into a luminous white glow and creating a typhoon that whisks Team Rocket off the island. Several of the Magikarp evolve into Gyarados as they make their way back to the ocean. Asking for Tracey's assistance, Quackenpoker tells him to count the number Magikarp with red and blue rings. Tracey stops at a cliff, and reports that 70% of the Magikarp evolved: the highest percentage ever recorded. As night turns into dawn, Quackenpoker thanks Tracey for helping him unravel some of the mysteries of Magikarp evolution. Inspired, Ash tells Pikachu that if they work hard, they can win in the Orange League Competition.
Meanwhile, stranded on a rock, Team Rocket is surrounded by a mob of Gyarados. Trying to be optimistic, Jessie suggests that the Gyarados are much friendlier than they seem. Think again, Team Rocket!

Pokemon Episode 110: Pokémon Double Trouble

Scenario:
Ash, Misty, and Tracey are riding Lapras towards Kumquat Island, the home of the fourth Orange Crew badge. Tracey tells the others about the luxury hotels and hot springs on the island. Misty makes a crack about if Ash loses, they'll be in a nice place, and Ash is hurt. They get to the shore and listen to all the barkers on the pier, trying to get tourists to come to their hotels. One woman out yells them all, proclaiming that the Kumquat Hotel is the best. Misty wants to check it out, but Ash wants to go to the gym. Tracey suggests that they go down to the beach for a hot dog, and they do. Just as they walk down the steps, the woman from the Kumquat Hotel notices them and seems to Ash is her son. As Ash and his friends walk to a stand, they here a loud rumbling. They look over to a large cloud of dust and see the woman, Luana, running towards them yelling out for her son (Mama Wamma, hehe!). She embraces Ash in a big bear hug. Ash pushes her away, saying that he's not her son. It takes her a moment, but she realizes that this is true, Ash isn't her son (whose name is Travis, by the way). She apologizes, blaming wishful thinking. She says that Ash looks just like Travis, and they both have a Pikachu even.
Suddenly, a scream pierces the air. More screams sound as a giant Rhydon robot looms out of the water. Unsurprisingly, it's Team Rocket. They say their motto then laugh evilly. They tell the crowd that the robot is Pokémon-Powered, and James hits a button. Deep inside the robot, Lickitung and Arbok run on treadmill that powers the mechanical beast. Jessie hits another button, saying that no robot would be complete without a Hyper Beam. The Rhydon's mouth opens and a mallet hits Weezing on the head, who lets out a bunch of Smog. Jessie asks why there was no Hyper Beam, and James admits that he never got around to teaching his Pokémon that move.
The Smog works fairly well for confusing the crowd and making them run around a lot. Jessie is thoroughly enjoying herself, but James reminds her that they're supposed to be trying to steal Ash's Pikachu. The robot moves forward and stops in front of Ash, who yells at Team Rocket for attacking innocent people. Team Rocket replies with a Poison Sting attack, but it is blocked by a quick thinking Reflect from Luana's Alakazam. Luana chews Team Rocket out for a moment, but it doesn't do much good. Jessie calls her "Grandma" and Misty calls Jessie an "old witch" (Ho boy...). Needless to say, Jessie is infuriated. James and Meowth try to soothe her, but only make her worse.
Ash tells Luana that she should let him handle Team Rocket, but she says that, as an Orange Crew gym leader, she should be able to take care of it herself. Jessie orders up another Smog attack that fills the area. Luana's Alakazam shuts the Rhydon's mouth with a Psychic attack, and the control area starts to fill with smoke. Ash sends out Charizard who, listening to Ash, uses Take Down. The impact causes Jessie to hit another button, and two cords whip at Lickitung and Arbok. Arbok spits out some acid, which burns a hole in the Rhydon. The Smog starts to filter out, but Charizard's Flamethrower right through the hole causes the controls to malfunction. The robot explodes, and Team Rocket is thrown into the air.
Luana congratulates Ash on a job well done, and he asks her if he could have a match with her. She accepts, telling Ash that she won't go easy on him. She takes them to her hotel, which also houses the gym. The doors open, and several bellhops bow. Luana tells one of them, Chilton, to prepare a deluxe suite for her guests, and then shows Ash and his friends the gym. The gym looks a lot like a Stadium. Luana suggests that they do a double battle for the match, saying that if two Pokémon will team up and if one of them can't battle anymore, the other person wins. Tracey compares this process to a game of tennis (Pikachu playing tennis? I'd like to see that) and Ash accepts. Slapping Ash on the back, Luana tells Ash that the match will be at the beginning of the next morning.
Later that day, Ash and his friends spend some time at a hot spring. Ash thinks about what Pokémon he's going to use, and Tracey notes that Luana is probably going to use Alakazam. Suddenly, Ash turns red and sinks into the water. Tracey and Misty pull him out, saying that he stayed in too long. The next day, Chilton acts as the announcer for the battle between Ash and Luana. Luana sends out Alakazam and Marowak and Ash uses Pikachu and Charizard. Unfortunately, Pikachu and Charizard don't seem to want to work as a team and start attacking each other. Ash is dismayed, but nothing he can say will get them to stop. The match begins and Pikachu runs ahead of Charizard to attack first. Charizard uses Flamethrower on the electric mouse, lighting its tail on fire. Ash it puts it out, Charizard flies at Alakazam for a Tackle. Alakazam's Psychic stops him and lifts him into the air. Ash tells Pikachu to help Charizard with a Thundershock, but it shocks Charizard instead of Alakazam.
Luana decides to focus on Charizard and has Marowak use a Bonemerang and Alakazam use another Psychic. The attack lifts Charizard into the air and slamming down into the ground again. Marowak uses another Bonemerang and Alakazam lifts Charizard back up yet again. Ash yells at Pikachu, saying that if Charizard faints, they'll lose the match. This finally convinces Pikachu, who uses a Thunderbolt on Alakazam, breaking the attack. Marowak Body Slams Pikachu, who is thrown backwards. Charizard catches Pikachu in its wing, and Pikachu then jumps onto its back. It flies into the air, and another Bonemerang from Marowak misses. Pikachu Thunderbolts Marowak, but it doesn't do much. Alakazam prepares for a Hyper Beam, but Charizard pulls up just in time. The return Bonemerang slams into Alakazam, who falls over. The Hyper Beam goes haywire, hitting Marowak instead of Charizard. When the dust clears, both Alakazam and Marowak are defeated. Ash has won.
Ash hugs Charizard and Pikachu, and Misty and Tracey congratulate him. Luana gives Ash his final badge, the Jade Star. She tells him that now he can battle other Orange League trainers in the competition games to get the Orange League Trophy. To get it, however, he'll need to beat the challenging Orange Crew Leader. Luana tells Ash to work together with his Pokémon and they'll do fine.
As Ash and his friends set off, Luana asks them to tell Travis that his mom loves him if they meet him. They all wave goodbye and sail away on Lapras. Meanwhile, Team Rocket sits stranded in the middle of the ocean. Jessie and James worry that if the boss finds out about the robot, they'll be in big trouble. Now guys, if you would stop screwing up, you wouldn't have to worry about your boss, would you?

Pokemon Episode 109: Pokémon Food Fight

Scenario:
Ash, Misty, and Tracey have been stuck on an island for several days due to a storm making the ocean rough. Misty comments that they will run out of food for themselves and their Pokémon soon, but Tracey disagrees. He takes out a book, and proceeds to tell Ash and Misty that there are several plants on the island that a Pokémon would love to eat. He finds some flowers growing on a rock and tries to pick them, only to discover that they're attached to a kid's head. The kid introduces himself as "Gulzar, the greatest grass Pokémon trainer in the Orange Islands." Tracey apologizes, but Gulzar challenges him to a match. Ash intervenes, saying that they'll go look for food elsewhere, but Gulzar mocks him for trying to run away from battle. He challenges Ash instead of Tracey, and Ash accepts.
The battle starts, and Gulzar sends out a Gloom. After checking his PokéDex and finding out that Glooms are weak against Fire and Flying types, Ash throws out what he thinks is Charizard's Pokéball. Instead, it's Squirtle. Ash tries to attack with it, but only manages to water Gloom's blossom. He returns Squirtle, then tries to send out Charizard again. Just before he throws the Pokéball, however, it slips out of his hand and crashes onto a rock. Once again, it's the wrong Pokéball, as Snorlax comes out. Ash tries to return him, but the fall onto the rock broke the Pokéball. Tracey tells Ash that he'll have to battle with Snorlax.
This is easier said than done, however, for Snorlax is asleep. Ash tries to get it to wake up, but to no avail. Gulzar gets impatient, and tells Gloom to use Solar Beam. Ash gets out of the way just in time as the beam flips Snorlax over a few times. Snorlax wakes up and crawls over to Gloom. After sniffing it a few times, Snorlax tries to eat it. Gulzar returns Gloom, but is unable to send out another Pokémon before Snorlax eats the flowers in his hair, then the lunch his mother made him.
Gulzar starts to cry, and Snorlax falls asleep again. Gulzar tells Ash that he's going home, and Ash asks him if there's a Pokémon Center nearby to get Snorlax's Pokéball fixed. Gulzar points at a mountain, telling him that there's a Center on the other side of it. He then runs off.
Ash and his friends wonder for a while how they are going to get Snorlax over the mountain. They come up with the idea of putting logs on the trail and dragging the huge Pokémon. This works for a little while, but they get tired very quickly and have to stop. Suddenly, Tracey fishes an apple out of his backpack. He tells the others that they'll use it as bait to get Snorlax to follow them. He hangs it over Snorlax's face, but it wakes up just enough to eat the fruit. It then falls asleep again.
Misty gets another idea. She reminds Ash and Tracey how fishermen use lures when they don't have any bait. Tracey catches on and adds that as long as they have something Snorlax thinks is food, it'll follow them anywhere. Ash volunteers to be the lure. Moments later, he's dressed up to look like a giant apple (I won't ask where they got the costume from...). Tracey and Misty suppress a laugh, then Tracey wakes Snorlax up again. Ash starts to run up the mountain with Snorlax very soon behind. Tracey comments that for such a huge Pokémon, Snorlax can run really fast.
Ash trips on a rock, and Snorlax catches up with him. After trying to take a bite and discovering that the apple is fake, it falls asleep again. Tracey and Misty arrive and congratulate Ash on getting Snorlax all the way up the mountain. The next problem, however, is getting it down the mountain. They hear a river flowing nearby, and conclude that all they need to do is make a raft and float down. They forget, however, that when there's a mountain and a river, there's almost always rapids and waterfalls. Needless to say, they run into both.
After falling down one particularly high waterfall, Ash and his friends splash around begging someone to save them. Gulzar shows up and tells them to stand, as the water is only ankle deep. He then points to the Pokémon Center right on the shore of the river. Ash and his friends use the log method to drag Snorlax over to the building, and they notice a large crowd standing outside. Gulzar tells them that the island they're on doesn't have an airport or seaport, and supplies are cargo-dropped by plane. The drop that was supposed to happen this day is behind schedule, and the inhabitants are nervous. Nurse Joy cools their feelings by saying that the plane carrying their supplies left Valencia Island that morning and should arrive any minute. As if on cue, they all hear the plane approaching. It flies over head, and the package drops out.
Nearby, Team Rocket watches the supplies drift downward. Meowth is in some sort of robot called the "Mecha-Meowthinator" and fires a hook at the package. It's pulled into the forest, and the people waiting run after it.
Soon, they come across Meowth pulling the huge crate. Jessie and James jump up from behind and say their motto. Jessie then tells the group that they can have their food if Ash gives Team Rocket his Pikachu. Ash resists, but the others don't seem to be torn up about handing it over. Gulzar steps between them, however, saying that they should be ashamed of themselves for being willing to sacrifice someone else's Pokémon just for their own benefit. Team Rocket scoffs, and Meowth tells Ash that is he can beat him they can all have their PokéChow. Ash accepts.
The battle starts, and Ash tries to use a Thunder Bolt attack. Unfortunately (yet unsurprisingly), it doesn't work. The electricity flows right through and into the ground through the Meowth robot's tail. Meowth turns on the robot's Power Swipes, and runs after Pikachu. After a few moments of this, Pikachu jumps into Ash's arms. Team Rocket is about to take it away from him when Snorlax comes barreling through the trees. He looks very peeved.
Meowth attacks it repeatedly, but Snorlax keeps dodging. The robot's claws get stuck in a rock and break off, but Meowth has other tricks. The top of the robot flies off in a Skull Bash attack. It hits Snorlax full in the face, but it is completely ineffective. Meowth has one more thing to try, the Turbo Body Slam. Unfortunately for Meowth, this turns out to be him flying through the air at Snorlax. He just pushes into Snorlax's huge stomach, who then fires Meowth back at Team Rocket, knocking them into the water. Snorlax then fires a huge Hyper Beam at the trio, knocking them into the air and out of the episode. Ash and Snorlax run towards each other to give what Ash thinks is a hug. Snorlax runs right past him however, rips open the crate, eats some packages of food, and falls asleep.
Later, Nurse Joy fixes Snorlax's Pokéball and Ash returns the sleeping Pokémon. Gulzar apologizes for thinking Ash was such a bad trainer, and they shake hands. The storm out at sea has ceased as well, so the ocean calms down. Waving goodbye, Ash and his friends ride Lapras off to their next adventure.

Pokemon Episode 108: Pokémon Water War

Scenario:
Ash, Misty, and Tracey have decided to take a break from traveling from island to island and check out the sights on one of the larger ones. Ash returns Lapras and the group discusses what to do next. Suddenly, several people run by. Ash and his friends follow to find a warehouse in flames. They join the large crowd watching and hear Officer Jenny tell them to stay back. Ash and Misty can't handle not doing anything, so they send out Squirtle and Staryu to help put out the blaze. Their Water Gun attacks are no match for the fire, and it doesn't make much of a difference.
Suddenly, a pickup truck drives up. A fireman emerges, as to several figures. The wall of the warehouse starts to cave in, and the figures run out and pull Ash and Misty and their Pokémon to safety. They look up to see who saved them and see several Wartortle. After Ash checks his Pokédex, the fireman blows a whistle and the Wartortle work together to put out the fire. Moments later, the fire is put out and the crowd disperses.
Ash and his friends stay behind to thank the fireman for saving them, and he introduces himself as Captain Aiden. He then tells Ash and his friends that the Wartortle are part of a firefighting brigade. He takes them to the fire station and points out two other teams, Team Blastoise for big fires and Team Squirtle for fires in tight spaces. Team Wartortle runs up after doing a few laps around a track and Aiden tells Ash and his friends that Wartortle are a perfect combination of Blastoise's power and Squirtle's maneuverability. He blows a whistle, and the Wartortle line up and salute. Ash and his friends are impressed, but Ash's Squirtle seems sad. Misty notes that it must be feeling sad since it couldn't put out the fire itself. Squirtle suddenly whips out his sunglasses and puts them on again. When Tracey is puzzled by this, Ash tells him about the Squirtle Squad and how they put out a big fire. Tracey concludes that Squirtle's fire fighting pride has been hurt. Ash asks Captain Aiden if his Squirtle could compete with the Wartortle. It takes a little convincing, but Aiden agrees.
As Squirtle and Wartortle glare at each other, Team Rocket watches from the bushes. Jessie suggests that they steal Squirtle and Wartortle as well as Pikachu this time, and they sneak away. Moments later, Squirtle and the Wartortle are at the beginning of a long track. Captain Aiden blows a whistle, and they start to run towards him and the others at the finish line. Squirtle pulls out for an early lead, but the lead Wartortle catches up rapidly. They're neck and neck for a while until Squirtle trips on a rock. It runs into Wartortle, and they both tumble across the finish line. Tracey checks his stopwatch and tells the group that the two just broke the record for Turtle Pokémon Land Speed.
Aiden leads the group over to a Frisbee throwing machine and tells the Wartortle and Squirtle to knock the Frisbees out of the air. The lead Wartortle and Squirtle match each other disc for disc, and the other Wartortle are working their hardest as well. They see another disk in the air and squirt at it, but the Frisbee seems to be able to dodge the water. It starts to float away, and the Squirtle and Wartortle chase after it. They run down the road a little ways but then fall into a huge hole.
Ash and the rest dash over and watch as Team Rocket's Meowth balloon floats up with the Wartortle and Squirtle tied up in a net hanging from it. Team Rocket says their motto, and then Meowth uses a grabber to snatch Pikachu up and put it into a jar. It tries to shock them, but Team Rocket has wired the jar so that the electricity powers a fan. James sends out Weezing, who floods the area with smoke. Tracey sends out Scyther, who's Swords Dance blows the smoke away. By this time, however, the balloon has floated away.
A little while later, Team Rocket reaches a cabin in the woods. Pikachu continues to power the fan and the Squirtle and Wartortle try to chew through the ropes of the net, but to no avail. James suggests that they keep one of the Wartortle for themselves, but the three start to argue over who will get to have it. It quickly develops into an all out fight.
Meanwhile, Tracey has sent out Venonat to try to find where Team Rocket hid. The radio on Aiden's jeep rings, and Aiden answers it. On the other side, Officer Jenny tells him that an apartment complex is on fire downtown and the Blastoise can't get to it due to an overturned truck (apparently, the truck is blocking the only path to the complex). She says that Team Squirtle has managed to get there, but they're really not doing much good. Misty jumps out of the jeep, saying that she wants to help put out the fire. Tracey sends out Marill and Scyther and tells them to follow Misty's orders. She runs back toward the city.
Venonat finally locates the cabin where Team Rocket is located, and leads the jeep to it. Team Rocket is still fighting, but stop after being squirted by Squirtle and the Wartortle. The cabin fills with water, and it busts the walls down while flowing out. The Wartortle and Squirtle work together to get themselves out of the building and step on Team Rocket in the process. Meowth scratches at them, but accidentally breaks the net. Just then, Ash and the others arrive and Venonat Tackles Team Rocket. Ash frees Pikachu from the jar, and Team Rocket attacks with Arbok and Weezing. They are pushed back by Water Guns from the Wartortle and Squirtle and, with the help of Pikachu, are blasted out of the episode.
Back at the city, Staryu and Marill help the Squirtle fight the fire while Scyther breaks apart rubble that falls from the building. A flaming chunk starts to fall towards Misty, but it is deflected by squirts from Squirtle and Wartortle. The rest of the Wartortle run up as the Blastoise finally move the truck out of the way.
Suddenly, they hear the cries from a boy trapped in the blaze. Squirtle puts his sunglasses back on and it and the lead Wartortle jump onto a Blastoise, who fires them up to the boy. He clings to Wartortle's back and they make their way back down. They work together to avoid a few obstacles, but make it out of the building in one piece. All the Squirtle, Wartortle, and Blastoise together finally manage to put the fire out. The boy's mother thanks them all for their help, and the lead Wartortle shake hands.
The next day, Ash and his friends prepare to go to the next city on the island. Squirtle and Wartortle shake hands again, then Ash and his friends set off.

Pokemon Episode 107: Charizard Chills

Scenario:

As the camera pans down on another serenely blue ocean, Ash, our hero from Pallet, is admiring his three orange league badges along with his friends Tracey and Misty. The narrator announces that he only needs one more of these badges to get into the Orange League. Pikachu turns the gang's attention to a large speedboat coming straight at them from behind and after a narrow miss the driver leans over to introduce himself.

Misty interrupts becoming very defensive towards Togepi and demands an apology for "almost" hurting it. The driver, Tad, says that Misty shouldn't be mad because it makes her face look like a Tentacruel. Misty takes this as a complement due to her love of water Pokémon. After welcoming the group aboard his boat Tad explains that he has heard about Ash from the gym leader he fought at Troveta Island and how Ash has a reputation for using pure power to win matches. Tad is excited by this and suggests a Pokémon battle on the nearest island. Ash accepts the challenge. The scene switches to Team Rocket who are, surprisingly enough, on the island that the match has been planned to take place. Meowth spots the boat with the "Twerps" on board and they decide that this is another chance to capture Pikachu.

The match begins, two on two. Ash chooses Pikachu and advises him to battle hard so as they would have the advantage. Tad assesses the competition and chooses a Poliwrath wearing a gold belt to battle first. Ash scans it with his Pokédex and is told that its powerful muscles give it extremely effective attacks. Misty enquires as to the belt and Tad explains that it was an award given to him back in his hometown after Poliwrath beat all of the other Pokémon that was sent against it. Tracey advises Ash that Tad's strategy of water verses electric may be a trick but Ash seems confident. Pikachu starts the battle with a Thunderbolt but Poliwrath dodges is with Double Team. After several attempts Pikachu's electric attack connects and Poliwrath is stunned. It manages to shake of the effects of the jolt and uses Hypnosis as a counter-attack, Pikachu is sent to slumber land and is finished off with Water Gun. Now Ash decides he needs his own "power Pokémon" to battle and to no one's surprise and everyone's dismay, sends out Charizard. Misty loses confidence of Ash's victory immediately as Charizard uses Ash's head for Flamethrower practice and then takes to the sky. Tad says that Charizard is powerful but because Ash can't control it, it's useless. Charizard continues skimming the water but a well-aimed Water Gun forces it to land. Enraged, Charizard launches continuous Flamethrower attacks but it is ineffective against Poliwrath.

Tad becomes impatient and tells Poliwrath to finish it with an Ice Beam. As it hits Charizard, it freezes into a block of ice and falls to the ground. Ash immediately begins hacking at the ice with a rock, managing to free its limp head. The flame on its tail begins to die down and as Tad walks away he mentions a rematch when Ash can handle his Pokémon.

Evening sets in and the gang tries to defrost the frozen Charizard by placing it in the center of a ring of small log fires. As a desperate Ash rubs Charizard's back he realizes that his hands have been rubbed raw but says that it doesn't bother him. Charizard wakes up and struggles for a moment, but soon loses strength again and passes out. Misty and Tracey then decide that they should help and begin rubbing Charizard's back as well.

Charizard wakes again but this time remains calm. Ash tells it that when it is better it can use its Flamethrower again, even to burn Ash! But he reminds it that rest is important now. Ash begins to talk about how he's not the best trainer in the world but only wants what's best for his Pokémon. Charizard thinks about the adventures he's had with Ash. This reminiscing causes Charizard's tail flame to grow a little brighter and the crew continues rubbing, even Pikachu joins in.

Morning sets in and Charizard wakes up to find Ash and chums sleeping by him. Its tail flame is burning as bright as ever and when Ash wakes up he is extremely happy. Suddenly the ground starts to shake. Something bursts through the surface and blasts Pikachu into the air. It lands straight into the mouth of Team Rockets newest toy, a giant mechanical mole. The motto is said, again, and is followed by evil cackling as Pikachu tries to escape from their shockproof box. They begin to drill underground and Charizard makes indications for Ash to jump on his back. Ash jumps on and they continue down the hole that Team rocket dug.

After appearing on the other side Team Rocket are pretty confident that they can't be stopped until they are caught by an angered Charizard. It breaks the drill, freeing Pikachu. Meowth, however, has a back-up plan. Pushing a red button releases two buzz saws that attack Charizard. As it jumps around trying to dodge them, Ash is knocked to the ground. Charizard is furious that Team Rocket hurt the master that he has learned to respect and uses Rage. A ball of intense flame hurtles towards Team Rocket causing them to "blast off" into the distance.

Seeing that Ash can finally control Charizard Tad, who has arrived on the scene by now, reiterates his invitation to a rematch. The theme music begins to play as he sends out Poliwrath. Charizard has fond memories of the last match and accordingly lets out a roar of anger. Poliwrath starts of with Water Gun but Charizard, as commanded by Ash, flies into the air and releases an Ember. Poliwrath douses it with a second Water Gun. Charizard uses Take Down, but it is countered with Mega Kick. Poliwrath powers up another Ice Beam. Remembering what happened last time, Ash shouts to Charizard to fly away. Charizard picks up Poliwrath and uses Seismic Toss. With Poliwrath knocked out by the impact of the throw, Ash is declared the winner. So Charizard finally obeys Ash, will this be his next step toward victory?

Pokemon Episode 106: Bound For Trouble

Scenario:

Our hero's have once again stopped on a small island. After earning his third badge on Troveta, Ash has a craving for adventure. Tracey checks the map and tells the group of the giant Pidgeot and Rhydon that roam free on the island. This doesn't seem to worry the gang and they continue on their way with Pikachu leading the way. They come up over a slope and Ash spots a giant fruit basket on the floor ground. Without suspecting anything they run forward. Misty notes that it is a bit convenient that there is a basket in the road with a bow and everything. Thinking about it, Ash decides that it would be a better idea to leave the basket and eat from a fruit tree growing near the road. Thinking that they outsmarted the tricksters who owned the basket, they walk over the tree. Unfortunately, they plunge into a pit. As Ash tries to work out how they fell for the trap, Team Rocket's motto chimes in followed by ecstatic laughter. The fruit was fake and Team Rocket explains that reverse psychology worked to trick them into eating the fruit from the tree and falling into the trap. Ash realizes that he was right and they should have taken the basket, and Misty shouts at Ash to think of something as Meowth tells Jessie and James to get Pikachu. Arbok and Weezing go to work and Pikachu springs out of the hole to take them both on. Pikachu lets loose a Thunder attack and Team Rocket hold out their hands to protect themselves. They are wearing special gloves with a miniature satellite dish around the outside and Meowth explains that these gloves will protect them from Thunder attacks. While Pikachu stands, helpless without electric attacks, Arbok unleashes a Poison Sting attack hitting Pikachu square in the face. As Pikachu cries out Weezing uses Poison Gas, which engulfs our electric friend making him dizzy. Meowth unleashes the final phase by attaching a restraint to Pikachu's waist. This locks the two Pokémon together and Team Rocket get away with their prize.

Ash and friends climb out of the pit just in time to see Team Rocket's balloon float off into the distance. The balloon sets down in a clearing and as Meowth laughs at their success, Pikachu tries another Thunder Bolt, but to no avail. Team Rocket point out that now wherever Meowth goes Pikachu will go, like his shadow. Suddenly the harmonious sound of victory is interrupted by the wail of a giant Pidgeot flying straight towards the troublesome trio. Thinking only of its next meal, the Pidgeot effortlessly plucks Meowth and his new soul mate into the air. Meowth asks if Pikachu can do anything but, as his gloves were lost in the assent, he winds up getting a Thundershock in the tail. He then points out that it might be a good idea to attack the Pidgeot instead. Pikachu apologizes and lets loose another shock, forcing their dinner host to drop its prey. As the duo plummet to certain doom Meowth realizes that if Pikachu is there to break his fall, he won't get hurt, rolling over and over, scrambling for the top, the two Pokémon land on the forest floor. Of course, Meowth gets the impact and Pikachu lands on his back, Ouch! Meowth and Pikachu, tied by a cord, can't decide which way to go to get back to their masters. Meowth says west, Pikachu East. After a little electric persuasion they decide: East.

With a lack of confidence in Meowth's ability to bring Pikachu back to them, Jessie and James, along with the key to unlock the stranded Pokémon, jump in their balloon for an aerial view. Ash and the gang, along with Bulbasaur and Staryu, catch up to Team Rocket's balloon and interrogate them about Pikachu's whereabouts. After explaining about the giant Pidgeot, Jessie and James make a quick get away in their balloon saying that they will find Pikachu first from the air. Ash looks distressed but Tracey has a plan. Marill enters on the scene and uses its giant ears to search for the giant Pidgeot. With new hope, the group follows the blue bob-tailed Pokémon to the bottom of a steep peak that is sticking up out of the ground. It seems that the high altitude and flattened surface makes an excellent nesting place. As Ash starts his assent looking for is lost Pokémon and friend, Misty warns that it is dangerous but Ash vowed to save Pikachu no matter what. The stranded Pokémon continue their search and again it seems there has been a difference in opinion on which way to go. Powering up for another persuasive shock, Meowth gives in but wishes that things would go his way. He gets a notion and thinks that if he gets friendly with Pikachu he can take it back to "the Boss" as a present. Sly as a snake, Meowth moves forward and taps Pikachu on the shoulder promising that he will lead them back to Ash (A lie). Pikachu can see right through it, however, and, after another jolt to the head, the conniving feline confesses his plan telling Pikachu to lead the way as long as there isn't a shock in it for him. Meanwhile Ash reaches the top of the pillar like nesting area of the giant Pidgeot to find it Pika-less. A shriek draws Ash's attention to the sky where the owner of the nest is about to dive bomb him. Knocking Ash back down the Mountain like a bowling pin the Pidgeot flies away and as Ash regains his balance he limps forward calling the name of his missing Pokémon.

As Meowth and Pikachu continue their search for their trainers they find themselves in an open field. Pikachu sniffs a rock and tells Meowth that it can smell Pokémon (Probably hoping that it's Bulbasaur's scent). Much to Pikachu's horror a giant Rhydon bellows out from behind the clueless Meowth who seems too scared to run. Pikachu, in a desperation move, bounds along ahead of the Rhydon pulling Meowth with him. They run to the end of a cliff and fall down to be confronted with a dead end. Pikachu stands his ground saying that they have to battle Rhydon to survive. Using his most powerful Thunder attack Pikachu engulfs Rhydon in electricity but to no avail. Pikachu yells plan B to Meowth over the deafening stomping of they're opponent. If Meowth can get the Rhydon's mouth open then Pikachu's attack will work. Jumping high in the air the pint-sized pair climb onto the Rhydon, a "Tickle attack" forces the comical Pokémon to open its mouth wide and Pikachu's tail acts as a feeder to pulse the electricity through Rhydon's body. Plummeting to the ground the Rhydon is defeated and Pikachu and Meowth, still shaken, continue their quest.

Ash and buddies come across the Rhydon tracks and the tracks of Pikachu and Meowth, thinking the worst Ash runs to the dead end where his Pokémon made its brave stand. Of course they are not there any more and a dismayed Ash follows the same track of Pikachu into the forest.

Night draws in and Meowth comments on how hungry he is, sharing the sentiment Pikachu complains in a way only Meowth could understand. Suddenly they spot a lonely apple in a tree waiting to be devoured. Meowth reaches the tree first and jumps for the belly filling fruit, Pikachu, unfortunately for Meowth, is already 2 steps ahead and grabs the rope holding them together. Meowth, unable to complete his climb for the apple falls to the ground and with an effortless shock the luscious fruit falls right into Pikachu's awaiting arms.

Meowth plays the old sympathy act on Pikachu resulting in him getting half the apple much to his surprise. As Meowth recalls his many encounters with Pikachu, he realizes that this yellow mouse might not be so bad after all and suggests that he join Team Rocket. Pikachu has already fallen asleep by this time and Meowth decides it's time to join him in slumber land.

Dawn breaks and after a quick mention about a good sleep the tranquility is interrupted by that wail of yet another huge Pidgeot about to pick a takeaway breakfast. Screaming for their lives, Pikachu and Meowth run in the other direction only to be confronted by a Rhydon that forces them to stop dead in their tracks. Cornered, the duo seem to be done for when out of no where Ash, Tracey and Misty arrive on the scene closely followed by Team Rocket.

A Pokéball hits the ground and Snorlax comes out, ready to fight. Squaring up to the Rhydon, it manages to block Rhydon's Take Down. Jessie takes matters into her own hands releasing Arbok to contend with Pidgeot. Arbok latches onto the giant bird's back and forces a retreat with a bite attack. A Mega Punch sees the end of Rhydon despite its solid skin.

Landing the balloon Jessie and James go to take their prize but seem uninterested in Meowth's happiness to see them. Taking Pikachu in their arms Team Rocket tells Ash that he won't get his Pokémon back without the key.

Bulbasaur is sent to do the job, with an effortless Vine Whip the key is knocked from Jessie's hand and into the hands of Ash who unlocks his imprisoned Pokémon. Meowth runs to the basket of the balloon where his friends are waiting. As the Balloon takes off Meowth points that they always have a back up plan. A cannon appears from the bottom of the basket while Team Rocket watches with glee. Stepping in Misty reassures the gang that she can handle the problem. Selecting Staryu as her choice Pokémon Misty throws the ball, unfortunately (yet unsurprisingly) Psyduck appears to contend with the threat. As the cannon charges Misty becomes desperate and tells the dim-witted duck to use any attack that it knows. Togepi becomes exited at all this commotion and begins to wave its arms. Knowingly or not it initiates a Metronome attack destroying Team Rocket's balloon and sending them flying. "Team Rocket is blasting of again".

This time the group notices Togepi's involvement but they are soon distracted by the reunion of Ash and Pikachu. Finally Team is left to fend for themselves. Suddenly Meowth spots an apple and makes a dive for it, but is kicked away by James. Pokemon Episode 105: Misty Meets Her Match!

Scenario:
As the episode begins Ash and friends are traveling on a ferry bound for Trovita Island, the location of the next gym. Ash hopes to win his third badge here, which would bring him one step closer to the Orange league.
Our hero inquires as to the large spikes that surround Troveta that seem to stick up over ten meters high and Tracey explains that they are rocks that were formed millions of years ago when the island rose out of the ocean. As always, Ash is pretty confident about his up coming battle hoping that the gym leader knows how to lose. Pikachu waves and yells as it spots a young girl caught in a current between three huge spikes with her pet Seel. As cries for help fill the air the gang decide they have launch a rescue mission. The girl submerges and another desperate cry is heard from a young man on the headland of the island, directing his shouting to the girl below he looks into his binoculars and realizes what is happening.
Misty sends Staryu out into the water then jumps in as well. The two swim to the drowning girl who is now unconscious. The Seel seems unable to do anything. Ash, now riding Lapras, drags the girl and Pokémon onto Lapras while Misty helps. Meanwhile, the young man on the land, named Rudy, comments on how great Misty is under his breath. The shot pans away to the screen of a periscope. As usual, Team Rocket is right on the gangs tail. James and Meowth are pedaling twice as fast, yet they don't seem to be going anywhere. Jessie realizes that they're stuck in a whirlpool and the sub tumbles head over fins.
Ash asks the little girl what she was doing out so far away from the shore. The girl, whose name is Marie, explains that she was playing by the beach when the current pulled her out to sea, but it was too far for her baby Seel to swim her back. With a cry of delight, Rudy and friends run to the end of the pier to meet "hero's". It turns out that Marie is Rudy's brother, and they exchange hugs. Rudy thanks the gang but thanks Misty in particular. With a click of his fingers, five other guys who look distinctly like Rudy present endless bunches of tropical flowers to Misty. Music begins to play and Rudy kneels and asks Misty to dance. Ushering Togepi and the others aside he leads Misty to the center of the port.
He compliments our heroine on her incredible Pokémon skills and asks if she would help instruct the trainers at his gym. Ash is astonished that the same guy who just swept Misty of her feet is also the Troveta gym leader. Moving forward, bold as brass, Ash challenges the Casanova gym leader to a match accompanied with a cry for Pikachu. Unfortunately, Rudy didn't hear a word, as he is entranced by dancing with Misty. Marie backs Ash up and Rudy breaks away from his conversation with Misty, accusing Ash of being rude. Rudy turns to leave but Ash stops him, saying he's the rude one. Rudy introduces himself punning, "Not rude, Rudy!" With a stylistic twist on the spot Rudy asks why Ash thinks he can beat him and Ash again refers to his two badges from previous gyms, saying that he's more than a match for Rudy. Rudy decides to quiz Ash by giving him an attack test, and they walk off to river where Rudy's speedboat is waiting.
With Ash and Tracey at the head and Rudy and Misty at the back, the boat sets off. Ash's challenge is to knock down all the targets that appear in turn. The first one comes up from behind a rock and with a command from Ash, Pikachu shatters the target. Another one appears on the opposite side and Ash takes out a Pokéball. Charizard flies onto the scene with a roar and doubles back towards the boat breathing fire. Ash admits that he "goofed" and calls Charizard back, only to find a singed Misty looking not too happy. Ash apologizes and continues with his test.
Team Rocket makes an appearance a few meters in front of the boat riding their sub, but a target moves down in front of them. Ash spots it and sends out Squirtle who takes it out with a Water Gun. The attack also causes a tree to fall sending Team Rocket flying and, unnoticed by Ash, blasting off again. With Bulbasaur, Squirtle and Pikachu by his side, Ash knocks down all the targets. Since he successfully completed the test, Rudy is forced to accept his challenge to battle. Ash picks an electric, grass and water type to battle and Rudy says that he will do the same. He then asks Misty to join him for dinner and leaves Ash and Tracey standing in the hallway.
Ash takes this time to call Professor Oak. After Oak wishes Ash luck, Tracey butts in with a picture he drew. He shows the Professor the pad and tells him that he saw the Pokémon in it in a forest. All he saw was what looked like an electrical plug. If you've seen the second movie, you will know it is Elekid.
After finishing dinner, Misty, Rudy and Marie head down to the gym to look at Rudy's Pokémon collection. He has many total evolutions Pokémon including Alakazam, Golem, Rhydon, Pidgeot and Venomoth. The Pokémon are all dancing to the music playing in the background and Rudy explains that he doesn't just want to teach Pokémon lots of attacks but to make them express themselves in other ways. He says that this can improve these Pokémon in battle. Not fully understanding, Misty nods her head. Rudy takes her to the dance floor again and asks her to stay with him on the island. Misty is taken aback and stops dancing. Rudy tells her to wait until after the match to make her decision. Morning sets in and the shot goes to a platform stadium surrounded by water and the spikes shown at the beginning of the episode. Spectators including Misty and Tracey look on from a red air balloon hovering over the platform. The commentator introduces the competitors from atop a giant Pidgeot and explains that they will be using electric Pokémon first. The match begins with Ash choosing Pikachu and Rudy starting with Electabuzz. Pikachu uses a powerful Thunderbolt, but it is just absorbed by Electabuzz who then charges at Pikachu. Pikachu tries to dodge with a Quick Attack that causes a head on collision. Pikachu is sent flying to the ground due to a sheer size difference and is finished with a Thunder Punch.
Grass type Pokémon are next up to battle. Bulbasaur is Ash's choice Pokémon and Rudy counters with Exeggutor. He then asks for music. As Exeggutor dances around Bulbasaur's Razor Leaf Ash begins to worry, as this match is two out of three. The coconut headed Pokémon unleashes an Egg Bomb knocking Bulbasaur to the ground. Exeggutor towers over the lowly seed Pokémon who begins to sweat. Ash tells Bulbasaur to use Sleep Powder, which puts Exeggutor to sleep and tumbling down the side of the cliff. It falls towards Team Rocket who is clambering back up the cliff. They look up to see the green tufted Pokémon hurtling toward them and are bowled back down to the sea below. Bulbasaur saves the snoozing Exeggutor with its Vine Whip, but the Rockets continue to fall. It comes down to water types to battle it out for the badge. Rudy dedicates his next match to "The girl who stole my heart" (Misty) and sends Starmie to face Ash's Squirtle. They exchange Water Guns and Rudy becomes impatient. He orders for musical accompaniment and Starmie begins to spin on the spot. Rudy sweeps his hand through his hair and commands Starmie to spin into a Thunderbolt! To everyone's amazement, the water Pokémon unleashes an electrified Thunderbolt attack hitting Squirtle. Ash yells out, not believing his eyes. Misty, whose mind had been ticking over what Rudy had said about staying, finally makes her decision. She shouts from the balloon that she wants Ash to win and that he's the only one able to bring out Squirtle's real power. Rudy realizes that Misty really wants Ash (although Ash doesn't) and loses all the style that he started with. Squirtle breaks from the Thunderbolt with a Water Gun, which catapults the tiny turtle off of the side of the platform towards the spikes. All looks lost as Squirtle Withdraws into its shell. More surprises come however when it releases immense jets of water from each of the holes in its shell. The power from this blast cannon it back up the cliff face. Misty explains that the battle has caused Squirtle to learn HYDRO PUMP the most powerful water attack.
Lunging at Starmie, Squirtle's newly learned Hydro Pump connects causing the star shaped Pokémon to skid across the ground. A well-aimed Skull Bash sinks Starmie into submission. Rudy is beaten and Ash earns another badge and raising Squirtle in the air he cheers his team on. Back on the beach Ash receives a Spike Shell badge and Misty receives a final bunch of flowers. Rudy tells Ash that he's a very lucky guy for being the idol of Misty's affection, but he still doesn't get it. As our hero's sail off into the sunset, they glance back on the island where Ash won his third Orange League badge and Misty won a young man's heart.

Pokemon Episode 104: The Mystery Menace

Scenario:
Ash, Misty, and Tracey are still walking through the desert when Ash asks if either of them are hungry. Misty sighs, and Tracey points down a hill. Below them is the city of Trovatopolis. They stand in place, marveling at the huge city. Nearby, Team Rocket watches Ash and his friends from behind a rock. They review their latest plan to capture Pikachu using, you guessed it, a hole. Jesse and James stand up and start to say their motto, but are brought down by Meowth. He tells them that Ash and his friends will hear them, and that they need to make it a surprise attack. James pulls out a remote and pushes the plunger. Nothing happens for a moment, then a big hole forms under them. They fall, screaming.
Misty hears these screams, and all three stop to listen. The reverberations from the explosion cause another hole to open underneath them, and they fall down to the depths below. They land unharmed and, after Ash and Misty help Tracey get his head stuck out of the ground, set off to find a way to get out. They follow a tunnel and wind up in the sewer system for the city. They then start to look for a manhole cover in the ceiling so they can climb out. As they walk, Ash hears the tinkling of a bell. Something taps him on the shoulder, he turns, but sees nothing. He turns back to his friends, but they're staring in horror at something behind him. He turns again and sees a huge tentacle poking out of the water. Pikachu prepares to shock it, but Misty reminds him that they'll get shocked too (so what? They probably would've even if they weren't in a watery environment). Ash agrees and sends out Bulbasaur instead. Its Razor Leaf attack is batted away, and the tentacle pulls Bulbasaur into the water. Ash starts to dive in, but is held back by Misty and Tracey. As he struggles to release their grip, a circle of light appears above them. They look up and see Officer Jenny's head. She sends a rope down and, after tying Ash to it so he won't go looking for Bulbasaur, they climb up.
At the police station, Ash and his friends are put into a jail cell. As Ash pounds on the door, Tracey and Misty speculate as to why they're in there. Suddenly, the door opens and Officer Jenny steps in. She tells them that they can leave, but before they can do so, a rather large man steps in. Officer Jenny rather unhappily welcomes him, addressing him as the Mayor. She tells him that Ash and his friends had just gotten into town, but he asks her to keep them in the cell for a week. She can't, so he tells Ash and his friends not to tell anyone about what they saw in the sewer. They protest, and the Mayor threatens to charge them with endangering public safety. Jenny tells him that they can't keep the creature a secret forever, and explains to Ash and his friends what has been going on. Apparently, there have been a lot of sightings of this strange, tentacled creature lately. All of them have involved the stealing of food, but that the Mayor feels that if the public hears about it, they'll panic. They'll never catch it, for there's almost 500 miles worth of sewer under the city. The Mayor adds that there's an election the next week and his chances at staying mayor will be ruined if word gets out.
Just then, Nurse Joy walks in. She tells the Mayor that he can't go through with the plan that he has formed. She tells Ash and his friends that he plans to kill the creature instead of capturing it and studying it. Officer Jenny tells him that the plan is illegal and he storms out. Ash and his friends go back to the Pokémon Center with Nurse Joy to call Professor Oak. He agrees with them, saying that it could be some new species of Pokémon or a Pokémon that has undergone some sort of mutation. He tells them to try to prevent the Mayor from killing it, but Nurse Joy tells them that all he currently cares about is getting reelected. Ash and his friends walk out of the Center and see what she meant. There are posters of the Mayor everywhere and even a statue of him in front of City Hall. They see an odd picture on the base of the statue and decide that it must be the Mayor's logo. Ash tells them that they need to go find Bulbasaur and they rush off.
They stop when they see the Mayor addressing a large group of uniformed men. They listen and hear that what Nurse Joy said is indeed true. Ash tells his friends that they need to get into the sewer before the men do, or else they'll never find the creature or Bulbasaur. They go back to find Nurse Joy, and she leads them to an opening in the side of a reservoir that they could get into. Ash tries to climb up to it, but slides down the side
Meanwhile, Team Rocket has been wandering around, looking for a way out of the complex sewer system. They complain about how hungry they are. Meowth hears a bell, and feels a tickling sensation under his chin. He thinks that it was Jessie or James petting him, but it turns out to be the creature's tentacle. They hurry off and don't stop for a while. When they do, they hear footsteps, and a figure rounds a corner. James sends out Weezing, who fills the area with a Smoke Screen. They run off and leave whatever the figure was coughing. The smoke clears, and we see that it was Ash and his friends. Tracey says that he could've sworn that those people were Team Rocket, but the thought is chased out of their minds when they notice Togepi is missing. They look around, and Misty sees it walking towards the water. She grabs it, and looks back at her friends. When she sees the looks on their faces, she looks in front of her again. Needless to say, the tentacle is there (y'know, this is all we've seen of this creature, and it doesn't really look like a tentacle). It tries to grab Togepi, but pulls Misty in with it. Ash sends out Muk (Muk!! Oh boy!) in order to find her, but it jumps onto Ash in happiness to see him. Team Rocket has once again slumped to the ground in fatigue and hunger. They hear the creature again, and decide to try to scare it. They make weird faces and run around the corner, only to see the Mayor's SWAT team. As they stand there looking at each other, one man asks the mayor over a walkie-talkie what they should do. He tells him to attack, and they all start firing large pellets of goop at Team Rocket. They run off. Muk has been leading Ash and Tracey around during this time, and they come to a wall. Muk points into the water, and they can see that the tunnel continues under the surface. They take a deep breath and swim through it. Ash surfaces first, and sees the tentacles waving in front of him. He yells in fright.
The Mayor's men come out of the sewer and report to him. They tell him that they didn't see the creature the Mayor was looking for, but that they did see three others (Team Rocket). He tells them that they need to block every way into the sewer with cement, and work starts immediately. Back with Ash and his friends, Ash comes to and sees Misty, Pikachu, Muk, and Bulbasaur looking at him. He hugs it in happiness, but is startled to feel the tapping of the tentacles again. He looks over, and sees a large Bulbasaur with its vines out. It's been it all along. Ash wonders aloud how it got there, and Tracey points out that it's wearing a collar. They get a closer look at it, and see that it's a bell with the Mayor's special symbol on it. Meanwhile, Nurse Joy is yelling at the Mayor. He defends himself by saying that now they don't have to worry about the creature. She reminds him that Ash and his friends are still in the sewer, and he tells her that he'll let them out after the next election. Nurse Joy protests, saying that the election isn't for another week, but the Mayor just shrugs it off.
Later, the Mayor enjoys a bath. He hears a loud rumbling sound and his tub is suddenly blown off the floor. Water gushes out, as does Ash and his friends and the large Bulbasaur. The Mayor floats out in the tub, and is thrown to the ground outside. He gets up and Ash asks him if he recognizes the big Bulbasaur. He looks at its collar, and thinks back to when he was a kid. He had a tiny Bulbasaur back then, but let it loose into the sewer when it wouldn't evolve. The Bulbasaur doesn't seem to mind, as it happily lifts the Mayor up in its Vines. Unfortunately, since the Mayor is dressed only in a towel, and people are starting to gather, he gets very embarrassed.
Misty tells the Mayor to apologize to his Bulbasaur, but he refuses. His men run up, and he tells them to attack it. Ash intervenes with a Thunderbolt, and his Bulbasaur Vine Whips them into the sky. The big Bulbasaur follows the lead and flings the Mayor into the air. He lands on his statue of himself, and it breaks. Later, Officer Jenny and Nurse Joy thank Ash and his friends for everything that they did. Ash asks them about the gym on Trovita Island, and Nurse Joy points out to sea. Only a little ways away, they can see a small island. Officer Jenny offers to take them to the pier so they can take the ferry to the island and Ash accepts
But wait! What about Team Rocket? They've found a grating that they can see out of, but can't figure out how to get out. They sigh, and Jessie sneezes. The bars fall out, and they cheer. You were lucky, Team Rocket!
