Pokemon Episode 255: Great Bowls of Fire

Scenario:
Last off Ash was having trouble just finding a way to even hurt Clair's Kingdra. Meanwhile, Team Rocket steal the Dragon Fang, which causes Clair and Ash to chase them down. The Rockets manage to themselves into a cave where they lose Ash and Clair, but almost ended up falling down a long way. A Dragonite however comes to rescue them and even help the Rockets. Ash manages to find the Rockets, but the Dragonite helps the Rockets get away. Just as they see this, Ash notices a strange shadow in the distance.

Ash sees that the strange shadow is Charizard, who shoots a flame at him out of happiness before landing on Ash, giving him licks on the face. (out of happiness) Ash wonders what's Charizard doing here, all of a sudden a person calls out to them. Both Ash and Clair recognize it's Lisa from Charific Valley! Both of them give a funny looked, surprised that they know her. It also looks like Clair and Lisa are long friends. Everyone else seems a little happy to see Lisa though.

Ash wonders why does Clair know Lisa, and what Lisa's doing here. Lisa says that they were childhood friends, and Lisa comes to this area every so often. Lisa says that Charizard is doing just fine, in fact Charizard and Charla are somewhat close. (she throw's in the "if you know what I mean") Misty has one of those "Oh great." reactions and Brock's a little jealous.

Meanwhile the Dragonite flies at high speed, a little too fast for the Rockets. Everyone's a bit jumpy at first, but they calm down, because the Dragonite won't let them fall, at least for now. The Dragonite continues to fly off into the distance.

Lisa now knows that the Rockets stole the Dragon Fang. Things could get ugly if they stall so they soon head off to find the Rockets. The field has a beautiful sight to it, the air is filled with flower petals. Except one thing the gang can't get out of their mind, why would Dragonite be helping Team Rocket? The old man explains that a long time ago, the Dragonite had a very close friend that lived with him in this area. They always sat together to watch the petals fly by. By the time he passed away, Dragonite, despite that his friend is gone, still sat at the same spot. One could guess Dragonite is a little lonely.

The Rockets lay back at another location, all of them hungry and don't feel like moving. Wobbuffet pops out and tries to cheer Jesse up a little, but Jesse's still stubborn. She notices that Dragonite's gone, but Dragonite was out gathering food. He sets a huge pile of apples in front of them and the Rockets chow down. They too are a little curious about Dragonite, but simply he just well, wants a friend since he's been out here alone. The Rockets break in tears, until they wonder where they are now. After a bit of scanning, it's a lake and they notice a shrine-looking building. Everyone gets a closer look, and Dragonite says what it is. It's where the Holy Flame is kept. Looks like the Rockets have another idea.

Soon the Charizards pass by the same lake in the distance. Misty wonders what's that lake there. The old man goes off explaining once more. That place is a secret place, mainly to dragons. People used to think of Pokemon as strange and tried to isolate themselves from them. But there was another group who wanted to be friends, and decided to settle there. There's a shrine as a type of mark, inside is the Holy Flame, which is named that because it's been buring for over 500 years.

While all the explaining was going on, the Rockets sneak by a sleeping Dragonite. They soon go in the shrine (being watched by the various Pokemon) and see their new treasure. They admire it for a while, then Jesse says they should snuff the fire out and take the saucer. But James stops her saying it'll be worth more if the flame was kept. He takes charge of than and puts on some gloves. He gets the Holy Flame, but a moment later his gloves catch fire. James tosses the Holy Flame in surprise, but it lands outside on a field of flowers, soon the whole place starts to go up in flames! Jesse scolds James for a while, but notices the outside is on fire! They try to find a way to stop it, but the Dragonite, heavily ticked off, appears right behind them. Dragonite gives them a few beatings for a while.

In the distance, Ash notices the lake area is on fire. The Pokemon there could be in danger so they head over there to help evacuate the Pokemon. (They don't know what really caused the fire.)

Dragonite chases down the Rockets through the forest and eventually cuts them off. He charges up a Hyperbeam but Jesse puts Wobbuffet in front. The Hyperbeam is deflected back and knocks Dragonite, but gets right back up! Another Hyperbeam almost comes there way but it gets intercepted by Charizard's Flamthrower! Team Rockets glad to see Ash come in to save them. Clair sends out Dragonair to help settle things with a Rain Dance. The flames go away, but there's still much of the area that rain alone can't help. Ash has Pikachu try to Thunderbolt it but Dragonite attacks it back with Extreme Speed, knocking Pikachu far. Team Rocket seem a little amazed, then the old man picks up the Dragon Fang from James. Misty, Brock, and Lisa go help on that part. Brock sends out Onix to help level up some fire blockers and Geodude to pick up any lost Pokemon. Misty sends out Staryu and Politoed to extinguish the flames.

Charizard looks like he really wants a piece of Dragonite, but Ash stops him from going too aggressive. Clair tries to reason with Dragonite but it only ends up making Dragonite try another Hyperbeam. Charizard intercepts it with a Flamethrower, but the explosion it makes knocks Clair back. Dragonite gets even more mad and causes a massive scale Twister. The attack hurts Dragonair enough to make the weather go back to normal and stops everyone else from trying anything. Dragonite goes back on a rampage, but no one's got a solution to stop Dragonite. The James confesses about the Holy Flame.

Everyone gets there, a few a bit surprised. Misty has Politoed hose down the burning shrine, then Ash tries another shot at stopping Dragonite. Dragonite tries to Hyperbeam him but Charizard helps him out. This time Ash lets Charizard face off Dragonite. Charizard makes a successful Flamethrower which sends Dragonite falling to the lake. All looks well, but Dragonite comes back out, and gets a Hyperbeam ready for Ash! Dragonair comes by and gets in the way of the beam while having a Protect active. Ash is surprised, but Clair says he can't have all the fun himself. Dragonair tries to Disable Dragonite, but Dragonite is able to break free. The two Pokemon double team on Dragonite. (Which goes off exchanging Flamethrowers and Hyperbeams) Everytime, Dragonite just keeps at it. Dragonite is able to take down Dragonair and Charizard soon after.

Ash is worried about Charizard, since it flew out in the forest, but Charizard is just fine. Clair says that this isn't going to work, Dragonite is too quick for either of them. Clair gets an idea and tells Dragonair to change the weather. It because stormy and lightning starts to strike. Dragonite tries another massive Twister, temporarily disabling both for a while. Dragonair calls out and a huge bolt of Lightning hits Dragonite. Dragonite manages to get out but gets hit repeadiately by more bolts. Finally Ash tells Pikachu to use Thunder on Dragonite, which locks Dragonite in place like Clair planned it. Dragonite tries to get a Hyperbeam going, but Charizard sends out a Fire Spin, which traps all the energy. Dragonite gets another Hyperbeam ready and fires it, but the end result causes the energy to blow up.

Dragonite falls into the lake once more, everyone waits to see the end result. Dragonite pops back up from the water, everyone is surprised. Ash tells Charizard to try another attack, but Clair tells him to wait. Dragonite looks a little confused, then goes to the front of shrine and pickes up some of the ground. The looks of nothing but dirt and withered flowers makes Dragonite sad. He can't believe he let this happen. All the Pokemon gather around him. All seems a little well but Team Rocket runs off! The old man doesn't mind... until he figures out they snagged the Dragon Fang at the last second. Pikachu Thunderbolts them, sending them high into the sky and James drops the Fang. Ash catches it before it falls to the ground.

Soon Geodude puts back the Holy Flame where it should be and everyone seems a little happy. The old man tries to make a joke, but everyone's gone by the time he was done. Back at the gym, Charizard wants to help Ash win his last badge, since after all, he's here and Ash could use a little more power. Charizard burns Ash out of happiness again and, well, it's all good. Now for the final badge...
