Pokemon Episode 385: Let it Snow, Let it Snow, Let it Snorunt!

Scenario:
Ash and co are now traveling through a very snowy region of Hoenn. May wonders how much farther they have to go and Brock mentions that a Pokemon Center should be getting close. Max can’t wait to get someplace warm and Ash just wants to prepare for his next gym match. Brock then points up ahead and the group looks to find the Pokemon Center just down the hill. Ash becomes excited and rushes towards it as the others follow. A very giggly Snorunt watches them from behind a tree. Inside the Center, Ash and co greet Nurse Joy and ask if it’s possible for them to stay overnight at the center. Joy agrees and is suddenly interrupted by Brock’s flirting. Suddenly, an icy wind attack freezes Brock and the group turns to see Snorunt smiling on the floor nearby. It walks forward and Ash scans it with the Pokedex. May thinks it’s cute and it begins to giggle.

Pokemon Episode 384: Absol-ute Disaster!!

Scenario:
Ash and friends are crossing a hot, dry area on their way to the Sootopolis Gym. Overcome by the heat, May leans over a rock and complains. The conditions don't bother the others much, but Ash and Brock discuss the location of the next town anyway. Ahead, a cry from Max brings the others to meet him. They've come to a bridge across a running river! May seems happy to see water. Pikachu runs ahead, halfway across the bridge. Brock notices that the bridge is creaking a bit from the water pressure, and starts to get a little worried. Pikachu notices this too, but then it gets worse...and the bridge breaks up! Pikachu is sent flying, and ends up clinging to a dangling board, trying not to fall in the rushing water. Ash runs forward and tells Pikachu to try and swing to safety, and it does...hitting Ash in the face and knocking him over. Everyone's okay though, and they turn around to see an Absol standing in the middle of where the bridge used to be! May checks out Absol in the Pokedex, and it says Absol shows up whenever there's a disaster.

Pokemon Episode 383: Beg, Burrow and Steal

Scenario:
Ash and co. continue their exploring on Izabe Island. Everyone has stumbled on a wasteland. Lots of holes are shown in the wasteland. Max checks his PokeNav, but it doesn't point to their location. Brock can't even find a map of Izabe Island. May points out those holes in the ground and how they are scary looking. Max finds it weird on how they are all the same size. Ash wonders if there is something down in the hole. He throws a rock into one of the holes. A Trapinch emerges from the hole and it eats the rock. Ash looks up Trapinch in his Pokedex. The Trapinch disappears into the hole again. Max thinks that the holes were created from Trapinch.

Pokemon Episode 382: Once In A Mawile

Scenario:
The episode begins with the group having a nice quiet lunch at a large picnic table in the middle of a meadow. As Ash finishes his meal, he asks May if she would like to have a practice match with him just for fun. May doesn’t seem to be very excited about the offer, and Max tries to persuade her. Finally, Brock stands up and tells Ash that he will have a practice match with him in her place.

Pokemon Episode 381: Claydol, Big And Tall

Scenario:
Still on Izabe Island, Ash and friends are exploring a foggy mountainous area when they come across one particular mountain with a giant Pokeball on top! As they wonder what this is all about, an old man appears behind them and says he can tell them all they need to know. His name is Shigemori. The purpose of the giant Pokeball was to seal away a great power, and he’ll tell them more if they do something for him. They nod, so he rips off his cloak to reveal trays of merchandise! He’s a tour guide/souvenir vendor type guy, so he says he’ll tell them all he knows about the area if they buy something, but the group just facefaults at his antics. He then shows them an ancient book which he says tells of the sealing of the “great power” by a wise man of long ago. Ash and friends are intrigued. After a scene change, the group sits around eating (it looks like they bought some of his Pokeball-shaped food) while Shigemori talks about the area some more. As he explains via a flashback, long ago, the Pokeball on the mountain originally contained a highly dangerous giant Claydol, but someone released it in an unsuccessful attempt to use its power. Unable to get it back in, the wise man from the book somehow summoned an identical Pokeball, which successfully recaptured the Claydol, saving the small village that it almost destroyed. That Pokeball is now resting in the middle of a nearby lake, and no one has disturbed it since. The flashback ends, and the wise man asks if they’d like to know more. Ash and friends do, so he does his salesman transformation again, wanting them to buy something else in exchange, but Ash and friends just facefault again.

Pokemon Episode 380: A Cacturne for the Worse

Scenario:
The episode starts with the gang on a ship again, heading for Izabe Island for May’s contest. On deck, May and Bulbasaur are practicing their appeals. May has Bulbasaur start off with Razor Leaf, then it uses Vine Whip to whack each leaf. Bulbasaur pulls it off perfectly, and May congratulates it while the others comment on their progress. Ahead, on the island, we see Team Rocket pulling/pushing a large cart full of Berries up a steep hill. Jessie wants to make Pokeblocks from the Berries and sell them to the coordinators at the Izabe Contest. However, they stop the cart when Meowth says that they can’t make Pokeblocks from these particular Berries. Jessie gasps, but since Meowth and James have let go of the heavy cart, its weight is too much for her, and she is comically dragged back down the hill, while Meowth and James watch helplessly.

Pokemon Episode 379: Where's Armaldo?

Scenario:
As the episode begins, we see the group on a boat, headed towards a crescent-moon shaped island that Max identifies from the Pokenav as Wells Island. May and Ash are both excited to do some training there; May for her upcoming Izabe Island contest, and Ash for his upcoming Gym battle in Sootopolis City. Later, on the beach, Ash has Pikachu use a Thunderbolt to flip a floating log up in the air, and then follow up with Iron Tail to split it in half. May and Bulbasaur then excitedly run up to them, and May proudly exclaims that Bulbasaur has learned Petal Dance. Ash and Brock congratulate them, and May demonstrates by having Bulbasaur use Petal Dance to make a big hole in an oncoming wave.

Pokemon Episode 378: Vanity Affair

Scenario:
The episode begins with some waves crashing against a seawall of a small port city. The scene then cuts to the streets near the ocean where Ash is in about to start a very heated battle. Ash is using Torkoal while his opponent is using a Scizor. The trainer starts off by telling Scizor to metal claw on Torkoal, but Ash counters by having Torkoal launch a flamethrower. Scizor dodges efficiently and lands on the ground. It remains there for all of a second before pushing itself back into the air. Ash's friends are impressed with its quick dodging abilities and skill.

Pokemon Episode 377: Not aired

Pokemon Episode 376: Solid As A Solrock

Scenario:
The episode begins with the camera zooming in on the Mossdeep City dome shaped gym. The scene then changes to show the inside of the gym that contains many decorative planets hanging from the ceiling. On the battlefield below, Ash has taken one side while Tate and Liza have taken another. Rei, Tate and Liza's mother, is the ref. She explains the rules of the match; declaring it to be a double battle.

Pokemon Episode 375: It's Still Rocket Roll to Me

Scenario:
Our heroes have now finally arrived in Mossdeep City, and are on their way to the Gym so Ash can battle for his seventh badge. As they are about to enter the Gym, a woman runs out, in a hurry. She stops at Ash’s request, and he asks her if the Gym Leader is around. She explains that the Gym Leader is at the Mossdeep Space Center to watch a rocket launch. This instantly catches Max’s interest, and as the woman explained that the rocket will be escorting a manned space shuttle, Max gets all googly-eyed at the prospect of watching the launch himself. Brock consults his guidebook for info on the Space Center, and Max talks about it a bit more. May is also interested, remembering their recent adventure with a Lunatone and learning of its origin in outer space. Ash then gets very annoyed with all of this space talk, and insists that the only reason they’ll be going there is to find the Gym Leader. Max pretends to apologize, but to himself he thinks that Ash will love it once he gets there, which will allow Max more time to explore and have fun.

Pokemon Episode 374: The Scuffle of Legends

Scenario:
The episode opens with a recap of the previous episode’s events. After that, it’s back to the Magma vs Aqua confrontation from the last episode. We see the ocean beginning to get violent, and Isabel warns Archie that Kyogre is on the loose. Archie summons Kyogre with the Red Orb. Team Magma begins to protest, so Isabel orders Team Aqua to bring out their Pokemon to protect Archie. They send out their Walrein, and Team Magma sends out their Mightyena. As the Pokemon battle it out, Archie makes his escape in some kind of mini-helicopter. Harland advises Maxie that they have to stop Archie. Harland then barks an order to the still-disguised Lance, who hurries off. Just then, Brock, May, and Max arrive, stopping far enough away and behind some bushes so as not to be seen. They comment with surprise that both teams are present.

Pokemon Episode 373: Gaining Groudon

Scenario:
At the end of the previous episode, Pikachu’s Thunderbolt had blasted off Team Rocket one way, and Pikachu, Ash, and friends the other way. Ash and friends are now floating in the ocean, hanging onto logs, wondering what to do now. Suddenly, a giant submarine surfaces right under them! They are now riding it, and conclude that someone has rescued them. They call out towards the submarine’s conning tower, trying to attract someone’s attention, when to their surprise, a Team Magma member rises from it! They hide as the member, who turns out to be our old friend Harland, looks through his binoculars towards their destination up ahead. (Apparently, he hadn’t heard their calls, but was coming up on his own anyway.) From their hiding place out of Harland’s view, Ash & friends recognize him and realize the sub belongs to Team Magma. They watch as the sub heads for an opening in a much larger ship ahead.

Once the sub reaches the dock inside, two crewmembers acknowledge their boss, Maxie, who is waiting for them. Maxie notices Ash and friends, now exposed to everyone’s sight, frantically looking for another place to hide. After forcing them on deck with their hands raised, the team then encircles Ash and friends, and they use two of their Mightyena to guard the prisoners. While they talk, another female Magma member slips unnoticed out of the sub, and heads off another way. Maxie and Harland confer briefly about the possibility of Team Aqua being nearby, then the scene switches to the mysterious female Magma member. She approaches two male grunts that are guarding a door. Two well-placed punches later, both grunts are out cold. The woman then pulls back her hood to reveal that she is actually Tactical Commander Isabel of Team Aqua. She goes into the door, entering a room that houses Kyogre’s containment chamber. Yes, Team Magma has captured Kyogre, and Team Aqua wants it. Isabel punches a code into the control panel for the chamber, and a rush of steam comes from several vents inside it.

Meanwhile, Team Magma has taken their captives to Maxie’s office on the ship. Maxie tells Ash and friends to sit down so they can talk, but Ash angrily refuses, saying he’d rather stand. In response, the Mightyena growl fiercely at the captives. This frightens May and Max, and the group finally sits down. Ash promptly yells at Maxie, the Mightyena growl again, and May calls Ash’s name in a scared voice, meaning he should calm down. Harland jumps in, saying nobody talks to his boss that way, but Maxie calms him down. Maxie goes on to explain about their plans to increase the earth’s land, and surprises Ash and friends by saying they plan to awaken the legendary Groudon. They have currently captured Kyogre, which Team Aqua is after, and they know that Team Aqua has Groudon, so they want to swap prisoners. The Blue Orb rises from Maxie’s desk, and he explains that whoever holds the orb can control Groudon, giving him ultimate power. Team Magma plans to use that power to increase the world’s land and finally defeat Team Aqua.

Meanwhile, Isabel has now managed to increase the humidity in Kyogre’s chamber to enough of a level that it can be revived. Alarm sirens sound in that room, and even as far up as Maxie’s office. Everyone is startled, and Maxie hits the button for the intercom on his desk. A Magma grunt’s voice on the intercom explains the situation. Kyogre has now fully awakened, and Isabel calls out for it to break free. It breaks its bonds without much difficulty, but can’t break its muzzle. Regardless, it plunges through the wall and into the ocean, causing the ship to tilt violently to one side. A red-haired male Magma grunt confronts Isabel on the ship’s deck. She removes her Magma disguise, revealing her Team Aqua wetsuit, and leaps overboard into the water.

Back in Maxie’s office, scrambled intercom reports of the confusion related to Kyogre’s escape are still pouring in. Suddenly, a blast (apparently from Kyogre) knocks Maxie down and sends the Blue Orb flying. Brock exclaims that now’s their chance to get it, so Ash gets Pikachu to do so. Harland has the three Mightyena who had been guarding them try to stop Pikachu, but Pikachu jumps from one Mightyena’s head to the other, and finally to the orb. Pikachu lands, having successfully caught it. Suddenly, a quick cutscene shows an opening eye and a growl, and the Blue Orb starts to glow and absorb itself into Pikachu’s body! Pikachu writhes in pain briefly, and at Maxie’s suggestion, Harland takes the opportunity to have the Mightyena attack. Hearing them, a possessed Pikachu turns around and defeats all three with a supercharged Thunderbolt. Pikachu sways back and forth from the strain, and Harland pulls out a Pokeball, but just then, another explosion hits the wall behind him. Ash and friends take that opportunity to escape. Harland helps his boss up, and Maxie says they’ve got to get that Pikachu back.

Not far away, Team Aqua’s sub surfaces, as Isabel reports to Aqua Leader Archie that the operation to release Kyogre was successful. Archie holds up the Red Orb, and it glows, summoning Kyogre, who releases a Hyper Beam at Team Aqua’s ship. On that ship, the red-haired Magma member pulls out a Pokeball, noting that the situation has now turned drastic. But then he notices Ash and friends on the deck below him, recognizing Ash and wondering what he’s doing mixed up in all this. Brock says their only chance is to abandon ship, so he dives into the water along with May and Max. Ash and Pikachu are about to follow when they’re suddenly blindsided by one of Harland’s Mightyena. Harland gloats, having cornered Ash.

May, Max, and Brock now surface and wonder where Ash is. Then, they notice that he’s been captured! Harland and his two Mightyena are bringing Ash onto Team Magma’s helicopter. Harland confers with a teammate, while the mysterious red-headed grunt listens. The helicopter takes off from Team Magma’s ship as Archie watches from his sub. With the Red Orb still in hand, Archie promptly has Kyogre finish off the ship, so it is sure to sink. This creates a powerful downward current that pushes May, Max, and Brock deeper into the water, but…something…is following them.

The scene then switches to show Team Rocket, lying on a beach with the wind knocked out of them. This is where they had landed following the previous episode’s blastoff. They recognize Team Magma’s helicopter flying overhead, and wonder what they’re up to. Meanwhile, out in the ocean, a red Gyarados surfaces, carrying an unconscious May, Max, and Brock. They awaken, and May and Max promptly get scared when they realize they’re on a Gyarados, but Brock recognizes it as Lance’s.

While this is going on, it’s time for the big meeting between Teams Aqua and Magma. Magma’s helicopter lands, and the team gets out. Archie reveals that he has two Team Magma hostages, and offers to trade them for the Blue Orb. Team Rocket are watching this from not far off, and are stunned at the mentions of Groudon and Kyogre in the negotiations. After some more discussion, Archie reveals to Maxie that he already has the Red Orb and can control Kyogre, and that he’ll be unstoppable if he can get the Blue Orb as well. Team Rocket comments on this, and decide to catch Groudon and Kyogre to give to the Boss (as if that’ll happen).

Meanwhile, Ash and Pikachu are still trapped in Team Magma’s helicopter, and guarded by several grunts outside. Pikachu is still in pain from having absorbed the Blue Orb. Suddenly, it glows with those red markings again and breaks free of Ash’s grip. It then basically goes insane, letting out massive bursts of electricity everywhere, including one that just misses Ash, before finally fainting from the strain. Worried, Ash picks it up, but then notices the red-haired Magma member from earlier at the door. Ash is angry at first, but the Magma member removes his hood to reveal that he’s Lance! He quietly fills Ash in on the situation, and Ash explains what happened to Pikachu. Lance doesn’t think Pikachu is in life-threatening danger, so he reassures Ash and explains more about what’s going on.

By now, May and Max have calmed down about the Gyarados, since Brock has been explaining to them about who Lance is and how he and Ash know him, as Gyarados takes them to the island where everyone is. Another scene-switch shows Team Rocket observing Team Aqua’s sub. They know from what they overheard that Team Aqua is keeping Groudon and Kyogre captive there. Two Aqua guards with their Crawdaunt make their rounds, but after they have gone by one of the storage containers, part of the wall falls down, and Team Rocket emerges. They’d disguised themselves with a fake wall like the kind of thing some ninja trainers in Ruby and Sapphire use to blend in with their surroundings. They tiptoe off, and come to a control panel and monitor that shows where Kyogre is being held now. Jessie pulls out a bazooka, and Meowth enters a password on the keyboard, but it doesn’t work. Jessie and James tease Meowth as he presses random buttons, eventually shutting down the computer. Jessie and Meowth argue, and Wobbuffet tries a button that causes an explosion. The door Team Rocket wanted opens, and they rejoice, but are stopped short by the Aqua guards and their Crawdaunt.

Back at the showdown between Archie and Maxie, Isabel receives a report on her radio about Team Rocket, and Archie blames Team Magma for the intrusion. Maxie denies any involvement. The scene switches to May, Max, and Brock running towards the action. A storm quickly starts, and they decide to hurry.

Meanwhile, James sends out Cacnea to deal with the Aqua guards’ two Crawdaunt. A single Pin Missile is all that’s necessary to let Team Rocket go by, and they quickly approach Kyogre’s tank. Jessie fires a net from her bazooka that envelops Kyogre, and she then presses a button that electrifies the net, attempting to weaken the Water-type. It seems that her voltage wasn’t nearly high enough though, since the electricity merely alerted Kyogre. It jumps out of the water, sending the electrified net back onto Team Rocket and blasting them off. The explosion causes a fire in Kyogre’s containment chamber.

Still captive in Team Magma’s helicopter, Ash is holding Pikachu, trying desperately to calm it down as it goes insane again, letting out bolts of electricity everywhere. Ash is getting hurt, but won’t let go of Pikachu this time. The narrator then sets the stage for the next episode, explaining the danger everyone is in if both Kyogre and Groudon are awakened (as Kyogre has been already), and the episode ends on that note, preparing for part 2.

Pokemon Episode 372: Training Wrecks

Scenario:
Still on their way to Mossdeep City, Ash and friends arrive at Ganga Island, which has two small mountains that are shaped like an arm flexing its bicep. After they disembark, May wonders where the nearest coffee shop is. Brock consults his guidebook, and they begin to explore. They soon hear a crowd of people chanting “one…two…one…two…” and wonder what’s going on.

Pokemon Episode 371: The Evolutionary War

Scenario:
Ash and friends are in a boat, still on their way across the ocean towards Mossdeep City. Max notices from the Pokenav that there are three islands just ahead. Brock has apparently looked it up already, so he explains about the Ha-Ro-I islands, and mentions that I Island has a Pokemon Center. A couple of Wailmer follow them briefly as they head for the islands. Suddenly, a bunch of kids race by them, riding their Huntail and Gorebyss. Ash and May check out Huntail and Gorebyss in their Pokedexes, and learn that they both evolve from Clamperl. Turning their attention back to the race, they see one girl get knocked off her Huntail. Ash & co stop to see if she’s ok. She is, and she resumes the race. Then, a young boy and girl go by on little pedal-boats, deep in an argument. The boy thinks Huntail is better than Gorebyss, while the girl believes the reverse. All of this has aroused the curiosity of Ash & friends.

Pokemon Episode 370: The Relicanth Really Can!

Scenario:
Still on their way to Mossdeep City, the group has now stopped off at a beach. Brock flips out over the girls in swimsuits while the others comment on the beautiful beach. Suddenly, they notice a shape in the water, and a weird, laughing seaweed creature emerges, scaring the group. Ash wonders if it’s a Pokemon, but Brock doesn’t think so. Then the “creature” drops a sack on the ground, and removes its weeds and mask to reveal that it’s actually a man in a wetsuit. He introduces himself as Soya and produces a necklace made of Green Shards from his sack. He explains that this is what he does for a living, diving in search of treasure such as this, and takes the group back to his shop. There we see many shells and such from various Pokemon for sale. Soya’s wife, Erimo, examines the necklace as Soya tells her about what he found underwater.

After the couple explain more about their business and the various things they’ve dealt in, Soya tells of his plans to look for a long-lost treasure from a sunken pirate ship. We see a flashback of the ship sinking in a whirlpool during a storm, as the crew struggles in the water and escapes on lifeboats. Soya goes on to say that he believes there’s a connection between the local Relicanth and the treasure, because he found that necklace hooked onto a Relicanth. Ash then looks up Relicanth in the Pokedex, and the group speculates for a bit. Soya expresses his determination to find the Relicanth again and hopes they’ll lead him to the treasure, and Ash says they would love to go with him.

Outside in the bushes, Team Rocket has overheard this whole conversation. Jessie and James want the treasure for themselves, but Meowth wants to give it to the Boss, as usual. He has a vision of Giovanni asleep in a super-rich-looking bedroom studded with gold and precious metals everywhere, and of course waking up to say he owes it all to Jessie, James, and Meowth. They cheer at the thought, and determine to get the treasure.

Out on the ocean, Erimo mans their boat while the others prepare to dive down in Soya’s submarine. After preliminary checks, it’s full speed ahead, and the diving mission is on. As the sub dives into the darker, deeper parts of the ocean, Soya turns on its headlights, illuminating some Wailmer, Huntail, and other Pokemon. Max spots a group of Chinchou, and the others talk about the Pokemon that live this deep in the ocean. Finally, a Relicanth appears on Soya’s monitor and radar. Just then, the ship shakes violently, and Erimo radioes down to check on them. Another monitor shows the cause of the disturbance—a giant Magikarp that is ramming the sub! Ash recognizes it as Team Rocket’s Magikarp sub, and warns Soya about them, while Erimo listens worriedly from above.

Inside Team Rocket’s sub, they peddle along doggedly, and James sends out Chimecho to give them added motivation. Meowth hits a button that fires two torpedoes at Soya’s sub. They connect, and the sub shakes again, causing damage to several instruments. TR pulls up alongside them and taunts via radio that they’ll get the treasure first. Everyone is ok, so Soya radioes their situation to Erimo and says they’re going after Team Rocket and continuing their mission. Ahead, TR are following a Relicanth they think might lead them to the treasure, when they notice their sub has started leaking badly. James and Meowth are worried, but Jessie wants to push ahead. That’s when the holes get bigger and water starts gushing in. TR loses control and is helpless as their sub is pushed along by a current. Soya and the others have caught up now and again have the Relicanth in their sights. The sub starts experiencing turbulence again; it seems the currents this deep are pretty rough. Still, Soya suspects that they must be close, and follows the Relicanth into a small tunnel. Above, Erimo worriedly tries to raise them on the radio, but communication is now knocked out due to their location. Soya skillfully maneuvers the sub through the small tunnel, but the rough current knocks them against the sides several times. Soya finally loses control, and everyone hangs on and braces themselves.

The screen goes black, and an unconscious Ash is awoken by Soya. Everyone else appears to have been knocked out as well, but they awake with no harm done. All the sub’s interior emergency red lights are on now. The group looks out the window and discovers they’ve made it to shore in an underwater cave containing the pirate ship Soya had told them about! Soya rushes off to explore the ship while the others discuss their situation. Presently, a group of Relicanth emerge from the hull of the ship, and the humans admire them. Soya suddenly emerges, having found a treasure chest. Just as he is about to open it, they hear a voice from the water. It’s the radio from TR’s Magikarp sub, and they emerge and say their motto. Meowth hits a button that sends a rope out from the mouth of their sub, with a plunger at the end. It takes the treasure chest back into the sub, as Soya rushes forward in anger. Meowth stops him by hitting another button that sends out two more torpedoes. Soya and the others duck as the torpedoes fly over them and strike the wrecked pirate ship, disturbing and endangering the Relicanth. TR gloat over their success, but notice that they are now surrounded by a bunch of angry Relicanth. TR yells at them, but to no avail. Jessie snatches the remote from Meowth and sends out two more torpedoes that fly towards the Relicanth. Ash quickly sends out Corphish, who destroys the torpedoes with Bubblebeam. TR takes the opportunity to make their escape, and they even make sure they can’t be followed. Meowth hits another button that sends two rockets out from the back of their sub, causing a cave-in at the tunnel entrance. Soya, Ash, and the others are worried, but then they notice the Relicanth are all starting to swim in one direction. One of them pauses to call out to the humans, who realize the Relicanth must know of another way out. They get back in the sub and follow the Relicanth to another underwater tunnel, but the current looks rough in this one too. Soya assures them that they’ll make it through.

Meanwhile, on the surface, Erimo is still desperately trying to regain radio contact with the group. Finally, the speaker crackles to life. Soya explains what happened and says the Relicanth are leading them back up. Back on board the boat, Ash & co thank the Relicanth, while Erimo scolds Soya briefly. But she has picked up TR on their radar, so they can still try to reclaim the treasure.

Some distance away, TR has also surfaced, and gloat over their victory, but that’s when Ash & co catch up with them, accompanied by the group of Relicanth. From the boat, May sends out Bulbasaur to grab the treasure chest with its vines. TR won’t let it get away that easily, and grab the chest as well. Jessie sends out Seviper, who hits Bulbasaur with Poison Tail, breaking its hold on the chest and sending it flying. Brock sends out Mudkip, who attacks TR with Water Gun as the Relicanth join in with Hydro Pump. Bulbasaur grabs the chest again with its vines and gives it to Soya. Finally, a Thunder from Pikachu blasts off the Rockets.

Soya can now finally open the treasure chest. Inside, everyone is surprised to only find more Green Shards. Soya is disappointed, but Erimo says she can make some great jewelry out of them, much to May’s delight. Erimo even offers to make something out of them for May, who happily thanks her. Soya thanks the Relicanth for everything, and expresses determination to continue his treasure-hunting adventures. As the sun sets, it’s now time for Ash and friends to continue on towards Mossdeep City.

Pokemon Episode 369: Clamperl of Wisdom

Scenario:
As the episode begins, the group is sailing across the ocean on a boat, bound for Mossdeep City. For some reason, Torkoal is out of its Pokeball. It and the others watch the waves from the bow of the ship. Pikachu and Torkoal are the first to notice something out on the ocean, which turns out to be a Spoink floating on a log, apparently the same Spoink they'd met before. Suddently a wave knocks Spoink from the log, and Ash calls for the boat's pilot to stop. They pull Spoink on board in a life preserver. It hops around happily due to the rescue, but trips over the life preserver, and its pearl goes flying out into the water. Naturally, it freaks out. Everyone can't believe Spoink lost its pearl AGAIN.

Spoink is briefly sad, but notices a round red flotation device (used for a net, I think) on the boat, and psychically picks it up and puts it on its head. Ash grabs it, saying that it doesn't belong to Spoink, and Torkoal cries at Spoink's situation. Torkoal then impulsively jumps into the water, intending to look for Spoink's pearl. The group gets worried that the Fire-type will be seriously hurt from being underwater so long, and Ash promptly dives in after it.

A scene change later, the group surrounds an exhausted Torkoal, who cries again at its failure. Brock points out that Torkoal did have a good idea though, so Brock and Ash send out Mudkip and Corphish to try to find Spoink's pearl. Max reminds Brock that Lombre should be able to help too, so Brock sends it out, but Lombre seems to be more interested in practicing its backstroke. Meanwhile, Corphish and Mudkip look around underwater but find no sign of the pearl, and report their failure back to the group.

Later, during a rest stop at an island, the group stares out to sea, wondering what they can do to help Spoink. A young boy and his Azurill run by, and Spoink tries putting Azurill on its head. The boy cries, and Ash and Brock snatch Azurill away, scolding Spoink. Spoink then tries many other things: a Swablu, a Castform, even a large Wailmer, but at the end is still disappointed at its pearl-less head. A scientist then approaches the group, explanations are made, and he says that the pearls grown inside a Clamperl are the same kind Spoink wear. He introduces himself as Aysaki and takes them to his lab/museum, in a building with a giant half-shell over its roof that looks like a Clamperl's. Inside, they look over a pool with large rock formations in the middle. A group of Clamperl are on the rocks. May comments on how cute they are, and scans them with her Pokedex. The scientist then explains some more about the connection between Spoink and Clamperl. Spoink then gets excited over a blue pearl in a display case. The group admire it, and Aysaki talks about it while Spoink stares at the pearl sadly.

Back on shore, the group see a young girl and her Shroomish running along the beach. Spoink puts Shroomish on its head psychically, and May snatches it away, while Ash and Brock scold Spoink again. May returns Shroomish to its trainer with apologies, but the two promptly run away. Meanwhile, Team Rocket sneak in to the museum, intending to steal the valuable blue pearl from earlier. Meowth has the same fantasy from the last Spoink episode, about Giovanni wearing the giant pearl on a ring, or maybe wearing it on a crown. James removes the display case, but before Jessie can grab the pearl, Spoink hops by and psychically puts it on its head, hopping all the way out the window.

Back at the beach, the group are calling out for Spoink when they hear a burglar alarm coming from the museum, and run over to check it out. Apparently afraid of being blamed for something they didn't (yet) do, Jessie and James disguise themselves as janitors with Meowth hiding in their bucket. They tell the group that they'd been minding their own business when a Spoink hopped by and used its Psychic to take the pearl, then hopped right out the window before they could do anything. The group decide to find Spoink and take back the pearl. Outside, Ash and May send out Swellow and Beautifly to go search from the air while the humans split up and search from the ground. Looking on, Team Rocket decide to take Spoink AND the blue pearl to give to the Boss, and Meowth has a vision of the Boss dressed as a king, wearing Spoink and the pearl as a crown.

Spoink happily hops along the beach with its new pearl, when it encounters the two kids from earlier. They hold their Pokemon away from Spoink, afraid of what happened before, but then they realize it has a pearl now. But Spoink slips again, and its blue pearl flies off. It ricochets among the rocks, lands inside a sleeping Clamperl, and knocks Clamperl's pink pearl out. The pink pearl somehow ricochets its way back to Spoink and lands right on its head. (What are the odds?) Spoink is super happy and bounds off, and the kids wonder why it had that blue pearl in the first place.

Beautifly reports back to the group that it had found Spoink, and leads them to it. They notice with surprise that Spoink is wearing a pink pearl again. The two kids with the Azurill and Shroomish approach, and explain what they saw. They point the way towards the spot on the beach where it happened, and the group thanks them.

Unbeknownst to them, Team Rocket had heard the whole thing while pearched atop a palm tree, and now decide to get the Clamperl. Spoink and the others find the Clamperl, but it now has its shell closed. Spoink approaches, and Clamperl opens its shell to reveal that it does indeed have the blue pearl. May asks if they could have the pearl back, but Clamperl refuses. Spoink then takes the pink pearl off its head and offers Clamperl a trade, to which it agrees, and May thanks it. But before they could make the switch, TR makes their entrance by dropping a smoke bomb, and say their motto.

Jessie sends out Seviper, and Ash counters with Torkoal. Seviper lunges in for a Bite, too quickly for a counterattack, so Ash tells Torkoal to use Iron Defense. Seviper ends up merely hitting its head off Torkoal's hard shell. Ash then orders a Flamethrower, which Seviper dodges. Excited, since the battle is going her way for once, Jessie orders a Haze. Everyone runs around in confusion, but TR manage to meet up, with James carrying a sack containing Clamperl, and they escape in their balloon. When the smoke clears, the group realizes that Spoink (and its pink pearl) are still there, but Clamperl is missing.

Meanwhile, TR has landed some distance away, and are now trying to get Clamperl to open up to give them the pearl. Jessie sweetly asks it to open up, but it closes again before she can grab the pearl. She tries again to get it to open, but fails. James tries to physically pry the shell open, but that doesn't work either. They try to sweet-talk it again, but fail. Meowth sadly has a vision of their giving the closed Clamperl to the Boss, with him struggling to get it open, then stubbing his toe on it. Worried, Meowth paces, then gets the idea to try tickling it. The trio does so, and Clamperl partally opens up. Meowth taunts it with its tail to get it to open further, but that turns out to be a dumb idea, as Clamperl clamps down on its tail. Meowth screams in pain while James, oblivious, calmly checks his Pokemon cards for info on Clamperl. Clamperl then finally opens it shell, and Meowth's momentum sends it flying into a tree. The shell closes again before Jessie can grab the pearl. James then thinks that maybe Chimecho can get Clamperl in a better mood, so he sends it out, but Chimecho's attempt fails as well. Jessie tries again, but this time she gets splashed into a tree by Clamperl's Water Gun. As Jessie tries to physically open the shell like James did, Swellow spots them from above, and reports back to Ash and the others.

TR are now using sticks as levers to try to force the shell open. That's when Ash & co find them. Spoink uses Psychic to lift TR away from Clamperl and throw them at their balloon. The group checks on Clamperl, as Jessie and James send out Dustox and Cacnea. Ash counters with Grovyle. Jessie orders a Tackle, and Grovyle counters with Quick Attack. Cacnea attacks Clamperl with Pin Missile, but Spoink jumps in front of it and uses Psychic to stop the pins. Grovyle hits Dustox with Bullet Seed, while Spoink fires a Psybeam at Cacnea. Clamperl slowly opens up as it watches its friends defend it. Dustox aims a Poison Sting at Grovyle, who dodges with a series of backflips and then uses Leaf Blade, scoring a direct hit on Dustox. James orders a Needle Arm and Cacnea rushes forward, but Spoink sends it back with another Psybeam. Finally, a Water Gun from Clamperl blasts off the Rockets.

Spoink and Clamperl are now free to carry out their previously arranged trade, and Spoink uses Psychic to switch pearls, giving the blue one to Aysaki. He thanks Clamperl, but Spoink is saddened because it's without a pearl once again. Clamperl then offers to give Spoink the pink pearl as its thanks, and Spoink happily takes it. Now everyone is happy and Spoink has a proper pearl again.

Pokemon Episode 368: Judgement Day!

Scenario:
After a long stay at Lilycove City, Ash and his friends are finally heading out for Mossdeep City. There is only one problem…they are late for the ferry! The group rushes along the coastline as May complains about Ash sleeping in. Ash begins to blame this on her and Brock tries to calm them down but can’t talk because he has a Frisbee in his mouth. Max tells them to stop and just keep running. Soon Pikachu points into the distance alerting the others that they are nearing the ferry.

Pokemon Episode 367: Lessons in Lilycove!

Scenario:
After a while, time for an episode recap, seeing as we left off at a cliffhanger last time. After meeting Kanata and her Grumpig and learning to make PokeBlocks, May has entered the Lilycove Contest, and while doing the showcase round with Combusken, she finds herself being invaded by Combusken's Fire Spin! Ash is watching from outside on the screen while trying to teach Swellow Aerial Ace, wondering if it was a good idea to stay outside. However, all the worries of him and everyone in the hall are over, as Combusken knocks all the fire away with its Peck. It seems it was just warming up after all, even though May did command a Fire Spin. Everyone claps, and May then has Combusken do some sort of dance, scattering the stage with a beautiful array of fire droplets while holding a big fireball (not a real attack TMK). Everyone including the judges is pretty impressed at her creativity. Next, May uses the fancy technique of having Combusken create a huge fireball, then jumping way up in the air and using Sky Uppercut to pop it, creating some more beautiful fireworks. The audience applauds, and the judges give her 8, 8.5, and 7.1, scoring her a total of 23.6. While Vivian does the interviews, she starts with Contesta (the 7.1 guy), and he says that he loved the look, but it seemed to be a little more luck than it was planning. May and Combusken sigh, hoping to do better in the next round. Back out in the waiting room, Kanata and Grumpig seem to think May deserved better than what she got, and Jessie thinks this is giving her an advantage…

Ash and Swellow are still struggling very hard to get the Aerial Ace right. Ash keeps setting a rope between two branches a foot above the ground, but Swellow just can't limbo under them at the desired speed. Now he's starting to wonder if his Swellow is even material for using Aerial Ace, and thinking about giving up. However, perhaps the show on the screen is making it hard for it to concentrate, but just as that thought passes, Ash notices them announcing the next showcase contestant—Kanata! Time to take a small break and watch.

Grumpig makes its entrance on stage with a little bounce, showing off its coiled springy tail. That alone gets enough applause already. Next, Kanata does something unexpected. Taking out her PokeBlock cases, she tosses a bunch of Green ones at Grumpig, commanding a Psychic. As it does so, Grumpig has the PokeBlocks flock around it for a little while, then go up in the air above it and dance in a circle. Grumpig's Psychic tricks impress even May, as she wonders how she could possibly get past it. Slowly, the ring of PokeBlocks lowers itself, as Grumpig makes itself look like its juggling! Sure it may be fake, but it still impresses the crowd. As it does this, Kanata conducts Grumpig by clapping in a rhythm, and the then the judges and crowd begin clapping in that same rhythm too, you'd almost think they were hypnotized by Grumpig. Slowly, Grumpig Psychic-ly lifts the ring back up into the air, as Kanata has it use Bounce, and while still controlling the Psychic, it Bounces up to the ring, brings them all together, and catches the PokeBlocks in its mouth. Everyone applauds as Vivian announces the end of the act, and the judges give her 9.2, 9.5, and 9, totaling 27.7. Out in the waiting room, May congratulates Kanata and Grumpig on their creativity.

Back outside, Ash and Swellow are still practicing. Suddenly, while Swellow is flying fast, it manages to make a dive and successfully limbo under the stick! Ash claps for it, but as Swellow looks back to acknowledge him, it loses control, misses the target, and flies right into the tree. Oh well, now they have a whole new thing to work on, but at least they got the first part.

Next up are Jessie and Chimecho, and this time she's using the code name "Mussashii". Yeah, running out of ideas I can tell. Not too sure if Ash cares about paying attention to this one since he doesn't even know its her, but James certainly does. Hopefully she won't screw anything up. As she sends it out, she starts off with Heal Bell, chiming it through the whole room, soothing everyone's minds. Even May and Kanata don't realize who it is, but are impressed with her Coordinating skills. Not sure if this is illegal, but the Heal Bell is also affecting the judges, who are still paying attention, yet in their own happy land. Vivian talks about how the Heal Bell seems to work despite its weakness, but the weakness comment sets Jessie off. James is starting to get a little nervous about what she's getting at when she's arguing with Vivian about making that comment. Yeah, I'll show you "weak!" With a perfect plan up her sleeve, Jessie grabs Chimecho by the tail and has it use Astonish. That's an astonishment all right, as it causes Chimecho to let out a piercing scream which traumatizes the whole audience. Everyone covers their ears while James desperately yells for them to stop. But seeing as it's radiant, Jessie insists on continuing. The sound waves are now getting so powerful, that even Ash and Swellow are getting a taste of it from the screen alone! As the round ends, to everyone's amazement, she scores 10-10-10. Perfect 30. In the interview, Contesta clarifies that they were impressed at how radiant Chimecho was, no matter how much it killed their ears.

Later on, as the showcase rounds end, the top 8 trainers are selected. Unexpectedly for them (not for us though), Kanata, May, and Jessie are all among the 8. Then, the computer generates the battle brackets for the quarterfinals. Unfortunately, neither May, Kanata, or Jessie are gonna be battling each other for the quarter finals. Time to kick some butt in the final stage!

Swellow has mastered the low-flying limbo, but is still having trouble hitting the target, as it flies under there as well. Jinbii, the tutor, has witnessed the training, and congratulates them on the limbo. Having spied on him, he gives them the obvious advice to work on timing.

Quarterfinals. Combusken easily knocks a Wingull out with Sky Uppercut, Chimecho somehow chokes a Loudred (don't ask), Grumpig throws a Raichu around with Psychic, and Volbeat (who we don't really care about but I'm telling you anyway) beats Sableye with Tail Glow. Semifinals, May is placed against Jessie, and Kanata against that Volbeat trainer.

Unlike the brief quarters, May Vs. Jessie is worth a paragraph. Vivian announces to start, as the timer begins. Now the fun part… Combusken starts off with a Quick Attack, which knocks Chimecho back (James is furious), dealing it 10% damage. It's payback time. Chimecho now chokes Combusken's thin neck with Wrap, slowly decreasing its energy, as it pretty much takes away 40% of it. Kanata, who is rooting for her in the waiting room, is getting a bit worried. But May has an idea. Thinking fast, she has Combusken Peck at it, startling Chimecho enough to slip off. Following that, Combusken uses Fire Spin, roasting Chimecho down to 10%! Now it's James' turn to be frustrated, as he cries in the audience. Suddenly, Jessie remembers a bit of advice James gave her when lending her Chimecho for the Contest: Double-Edge is Chimecho's best attack for battle, but it would be more dramatic to use it at the end. Remembering that, she has Chimecho use Double Edge! However, James sighs, as he and Meowth realize how little health she had and that it was a bad idea, because she has no clue that Double Edge always gives recoil. But anyway, recoil or not, Combusken ducks and dodges it, sending Chimecho (and Jessie) into faintland with Sky Uppercut. This round goes to May.

Ash and Swellow are still struggling and having trouble getting that target. Jinbii insists on not giving up, as he and his Pidgeotto had the same amount of struggling to ace Aerial Ace. Suddenly from up high, Ash's Swellow, looking very determined plummets down toward the rope. Concentrating like a plane on the runway, Swellow slowly lifts itself off the ground, and SMACK! Flies right through the target. Swellow has now officially mastered Aerial Ace, as they both congratulate it.

While Team Rocket disappointedly exit the stage, suddenly Pikachu points up to the screen, and Ash notices the final stage being announced, and it's May Vs. Kanata! (Hah, too bad they belittled Grumpig Vs. Volbeat, I'd wonder how the heck Grumpig could win). Ash decides to have Swellow have fun with Aerial Ace just one more time, so be it. However, as it's about to hit the target, it would appear Swellow is purposely ducking under the target—as it flies right into Team Rocket, blasting them off. Hah, good thing Ash didn't notice, he'd have definitely thrown a fit.

This is it, the final stage. Seeing as Ash finished training with Swellow, this would be perfect timing to go inside and watch the final live with Max and Brock. Back on the field, announcements and stuff are made, and the battle starts. Grumpig bounces and makes the first move this time with Iron Tail, but before it lands on Combusken, Combusken catching it by the tail easily counters it. It's talons hurt Grumpig enough to take away 10% of its energy. Combusken then uses its Fire Spin, but Grumpig easily counters with a Psychic, and with a good enough strategy to get the crowd cheering. As the Psychic gains mind control of the Fire from the spin, it transforms it into the figure of a Charizard, which is then hurled as if charging at Combusken! However, Combusken pops this with Sky Uppercut. Next, Grumpig uses the old fashioned Psychic trick of gaining control of the opponent's body. As it lifts Combusken into the air, it starts to make it tap-dance in midair, and its health is decreased down to about 30%! The clock is ticking, and they only have about a minute and a half left! Combusken is still trapped in the force field of Grumpig's manipulation and can't move, and May tries to think of a way out of being moved around like a puppet. Suddenly, she has an idea. While still manipulating, Grumpig goes for a Bounce attack. May, aware of it's physical systems out of its control, has Combusken hang in there and use a special attack instead, that being Flamethrower! As Grumpig's Bounce is about to connect with Combusken, the Flamethrower is thrown throughout the whole stage, and rains on Grumpig, distracting it and bringing it down to 20% as well. Brock then explains to Ash and Max, who didn't understand why the attack worked. Suddenly, the Coordinators realize their Pokemon are both in midair, and it's a long way down! Kanata tells Grumpig to use its Psychic again, but May isn't up for another one of her fancy Psychic tricks. Quickly, while falling, she has Combusken grab Grumpig before it could do that, and use its Flamethrower as a rocket, as a way to help them both fall down slowly. However, as they both reach the ground safely, the clock has run out! Seeing as Kanata has less health, this match, as well as the Lilycove Contest Ribbon goes to May.

As the judges praise her, and the whole crowd including Kanata congratulate her, May is happy that she made a new friend for once who she learned a lot from, and hopes to see her again. Seeing as there isn't much more business in Lilycove City, time to head to Mossdeep City pronto!

Pokemon Episode 366: Pokéblock, Stock & Berry!

Scenario:
At long last, the crew has finally reached Lilycove City. They originally meant to make a pit stop there just because it was on the way to the next Gym in Mossdeep City, but while they have a nice view of the sea, might as well walk. May's just figuratively had her revenge on Ash for what happened in the start of Hoenn, as now HE is feeling too tired to walk on, as is Pikachu. Oh well, at least they found a bench. Everyone's getting hungry, and May happened to pick up a pamphlet on all the great restaurants in Lilycove City. However, as she's about to open it, something else catches her attention… that's right, a poster on a nearby wall says this town is holding a local Pokemon Contest tomorrow! With a new plan on their minds, time to start training with May.

As they walk and find a place to train, suddenly Pikachu's expression changes, it seems to be really excited, and it runs off. As they chase it, they get to a berry stand which seems to sell almost all the berries there are (except for the super rare ones, of course), and realize that this must be what caught Pikachu's attention. Might as well check it out, some stuff may be useful. Just then, they notice a young girl with a Grumpig very frustrated, trying to haggle with the man at the Nomel Berry stand. Oddly, a second before they get a chance to check it out, a man approaches them, who seems to be selling free samples. As he offers Pikachu some slices of Nomel, he seems to really like them. Ash, full of hunger, grabs one… Brock tries to warn him not to, but it's too late. Ash has already consumed the berry, and nearly fainted of sourness! The man then explains that Nomel Berries are better for Pokemon, and could taste extremely sour to a human. However, the man is a genius on Berries, so he offers Ash some Mago Berries. As he tastes one, the sweet taste really grabs him good, and manages to wash down the sourness.

Suddenly, Ash notices the young girl with a Grumpig walking by, carrying her heavy grocery bag… and she's out of control and about to trip any second! Before anyone can save her, she trips—and all of the Oran, Tamato, Sitrus and whatnot goes flying… but then, Grumpig to the rescue! Just before everything hits the ground, Grumpig manages to lift the bag and all the Berries with a Psychic, put the Berries back in the bag and softly lay it on the ground.

Everyone in the shop had witnessed this great rescue, and clap. As she thanks everyone, she wishes Grumpig best of luck in the upcoming Contest! And that is the story of how May got to recognize her Lilycove Contest rival. While May introduces herself, the girl introduces herself as Kanata, the Pokemon Coordinator. Ash does his usual data checkup, while Brock realizes that by the way Grumpig looks, its been tamed really well.

Team Rocket have also been watching the whole tripping scene from behind the bushes. They were really impressed with Grumpig's power, that now they're gonna try to take it on! Yeah, they sure do stand a chance.

Later on, Kanata and Ash's group hang out at a nearby park bench with Grumpig, who May seems to get along with quite well. Kanata shows them the Berries she bought, and how she plans to make PokeBlocks out of them for Grumpig before the Contest. Brock is certainly impressed to see such a pro-Coordinator, with PokeBlocks and all. Max is wondering how many Ribbons she's got, but then May almost scolds him to remind him that she's there too. Good thing that on the subject of Ribbons, Kanata is interested in how many May has. As she takes out her two Ribbons, she's greatly impressed, as she only has one. Taking it out, May really seems to like it. Suddenly, as Kanata mentions that she's eager to win the Lilycove Ribbon, an argument breaks out. Not that its really a big deal, as Ash loves rivalry, and Max likes to see his sister standing up for herself. Meanwhile, Brock is looking at the guidebook for a place to eat, and as soon as Kanata notices, she swipes it from his hand. Before he can take it back, she says most of the places in that book are old, and she has a perfect idea for restaurant, and possibly it could help them. May's ready to go, but Max makes some smartass comment about her just interested in seeing her secret strategy and following her, but she slaps him.

As they follow Kanata, they find themselves at… what seems to be a big PokeBlock shop, based on the poster. Kanata says that this is actually her house, and her mother runs a PokeBlock shop there as well. As they go in, they find themselves face to face with shelves stacked with PokeBlocks. Kanata calls her mother down, introduces her new friends, asking to treat them to dinner. At the table, she serves them some fresh PokeBlock soup. At first, Ash is nervous after what happened with the Nomel Berry, but Kanata reminds him that some are good for people to eat, and PokeBlocks won't do any harm, except maybe a few. But her mother knows what she's talking about when it comes to PokeBlocks anyway. After everyone else tastes it and seems to enjoy it, he tries it too, and likes it. After the meal, Kanata has offered to teach May and the others how to make PokeBlocks. Everyone seems to be all excited and ready to give it a shot, except Ash, who just remembered something. Ever since battling Winona back at Fortree Gym, he had been meaning to find an opportunity to train with his Swellow and teach it the technique Aerial Ace. While May is making PokeBlocks and training, now would be a perfect opportunity for him to do that. Time for Ash to hit the fields!

In the other room, May watches as a couple trainers drop their berries in the blender, push a button, and wait for a few seconds. Kanata's Mom explains how PokeBlocks are made by blending Berries, and the type of PokeBlock is based on the type of Berry(s) blended. While Brock, being the breeder and all decides to stick around for this, Max decides to go check on Ash.

Meanwhile, Ash has Swellow fly up in the air… and soon after, has it dive down towards the stick hanging from the tree that Ash set as a target for his Aerial Ace. As it dives, it loses control and lands on the ground headfirst with a thud. Just then, Max comes by, worried about Swellow, and how Ash seems to have no luck. Swellow looks tired, so Ash and Max decide to call it a day and head back, just when an old man appears, chuckling at them. Ash asks who he is, and as he introduces himself as Jinbii the Elder Move Tutor, and he saw Ash try and teach Swellow Aerial Ace. Just then, Ash and Max get down on their knees (Swellow gets on its talons), as Ash begs to help teach his Swellow Aerial Ace, as he has been interested ever since the Fortree Gym. Jinbii gladly accepts, but it will take a lot of work and practice.

Jinbii takes Ash and Max to his training field, where he's gonna demonstrate it with his Pidgeotto, who happens to be his best candidate for Aerial Ace. The field seems to have a few targets, as well as a low beam. Ash and Max watch as Jinbii sends Pidgeotto up into the air, commanding an Aerial Ace attack. As it picks up speed, it moves toward the ground, as Jinbii explains that he noticed Swellow's main problem was that it failed to angle before it hit the ground. Ash watches as it straightens out with top speed, flying under the bar successfully without hitting the ground. Somehow, Swellow is going to have to learn to do the same. As Pidgeotto passes under the bar flying near the ground, it slowly starts to speed up and rise again, just like an airplane taking off on the runway. Soon after it's several feet up in the air, it reaches one of the targets, successfully breaking it. There's a straight-on Aerial Ace for ya, now Ash's Swellow has to master that.

After adjusting the bar to a perfect height for a beginner like Swellow, Ash lets out Swellow to try Aerial Ace. Seeing as the bar is pretty high, Swellow easily passes under and hits a target. Of course, that was way too high for a proper Aerial Ace, just a practice. However, slowly, they move the bar lower and lower each time, Swellow succeeding to Aerial Ace limbo under it every time. Eventually it reaches two feet, which is the proper Aerial Ace distance from the ground. As Swellow tries this one, it loses control and lands with a thud. Looks like Swellow needs a bit more practice.

As May chops up her Berries, she dumps them in a blender and pushes a button. Kanata's mother explains how each button may have a different effect, and the number field signifies the PokeBlock level. After it finishes, it stops at level 27, and out come some Liteblue PokeBlocks! Kanata then congratulates May, taking a taste… it tastes alright to her, but funny. May takes a taste, and makes a disgusted face. Kanata laughs and says those are only for Pokemon, and then takes out a book all on PokeBlocks which is how she remembers this stuff. May then is worried that possibly she should have let her see that before blending, but oh well.

Outside, May gives her four Pokemon a dose of her homemade PokeBlocks (Beautifly gets it as PokeBlock juice). Unfortunately for her, they all seem to not be fond of it, except Beautifly maybe a little. May sighs in disappointment, but Kanata says that this doesn't nescessarily mean she'll have no hope for the Contest. Heck, she sometimes feeds her Grumpig PokeBlocks it disliked, but they still helped. Their taste in PokeBlocks doesn't necessarily represent the goodness of the effect. Some Pokemon don't like Bitter PokeBlocks, but sometimes that's the only way to raise their intelligence. Kanata doesn't always feed her Grumpig PokeBlocks it likes, but they still make a great Coordination team. After all, her Grumpig is used to occasionally eating ones it dislikes. With that, they'll manage to win enough Ribbons to participate in the Grand Festival. May hesitantly wishes her luck, but rivals are rivals, and she intends to win this one. May then passes on the message to her Pokemon that although the PokeBlocks may not be their favorite, they should eat them, because it will help when one may enter the Contest tomorrow. Kanata wishes May luck, getting ready to go home.

Before Kanata takes a step, suddenly a huge claw from nowhere grabs Grumpig! Nope, Team Rocket have not gotten it through their heads yet. While Grumpig tries to squirm free, May has Combusken jump up and use Sky Uppercut on the balloon, knocking them down and freeing Grumpig. To save Grumpig from suffering an injury, Bulbasaur grabs it with Vine Whip, placing it safely on the ground. Finally, since for some reason they must blast Team Rocket off, Beautifly does so with Silver Wind. Kanata thanks them, and notes that she was most impressed with Combusken's Sky Uppercut. This gives May a bright idea. Because Skitty and Beautifly have already gotten a chance to be winners, and Bulbasaur… needs some more time after what happened at Ruibosu, she's going to use Combusken. After all, it was her first Pokemon; it's pretty strong now.

Team Rocket have landed in a dumpster, and as they try and scramble their way out, it tips over and they crawl out. As Jessie gets up, among the garbage she finds a little flyer for a Contest here in Lilycove! With a new thought on her mind, she requests to borrow James' Chimecho. With his surprised reaction, she says she's gotten used to Chimecho and likes its power, plus she was very impressed with the way James handled her Dustox back in the PokeRing, now it's time for her to return the favor. Aww, how could he resist that… James accepts, explains to Chimecho he's letting Jessie handle it tomorrow and basically to listen to her, to which it responds with the gimmick of wrapping around his face. Tomorrow, Chimecho faces its first Contest!

The day of the Contest has come, and while Vivian makes her announcements and introduces the three judges, Ash and co wait for May, but Ash is still eager to train with Swellow a bit more. After all, there is a screen outside, so he and Swellow can watch her from there while they train. Brock and Max don't seem to mind, so he gets up and heads outside. James prays that Jessie will handle Chimecho well. May is in the waiting room, shooting the breeze with Kanata as they patiently wait for their turn. Jessie, in the corner, introduces herself to Chimecho. Being who she is, she's rather harsh on it, as it cowers in fear.

In the showcase rounds, out of the characters we care about, May is the first up. Ash and Swellow pause their training and pay attention. As she lets Combusken out to the stage, Vivian introduces it, as she starts off with a Fire Spin. As Combusken lets out the Fire Spin, Vivian is about to comment about it, but it seems to spread through the whole stage, scaring even her! That can't be good… everyone in the waiting room and audience are worried about what will become of the Contest, even Team Rocket, and Ash who is watching from outside… maybe it was a good idea to go outside after all. What will become of the Contest, and everyone in the hall?

Pokemon Episode 365: A Scare To Remember!

Scenario:
Still on their journey to Lilycove but awfully close, Ash and co are yet again in the wilderness of the woods. Pikachu seems to be more excited, and is trudging a few yards ahead of the group. Suddenly, their current adventure starts as the earth beneath them begins to rumble, and a tree is falling directly on that happy yellow rat! With barely any time to move out of the way, it crashes… and before Ash can realize whether he's safe or not, let alone where the heck he is, he realizes that Team Rocket are messing with him once again in one of their mechanical walking robot thingamabobs. Gripped in its fingers is… you guessed it, their number one target, Pikachu. Do they ever learn? Ash has probably figured out by now that their machines always are, have been, and will be electricity-resistant, but he decides to give the Thunderbolt a shot, failing once again. Sure, metal is a good conductor… but although it seems the machine is made of metal, it's actually recyclable plastic.

Suddenly, one of the machine's legs sinks into the ground, because unfortunately for Team Rocket, they've put too much weight on one side. Quickly, they run to the other side to save the balance, but that leg just scrunches up instead of going in with the other… eventually it gets too low and they run to the other side. This routine is repeated a couple more times as things get really chaotic with it, smushing it more into the ground. Eventually the machine can't take all that weight, and explodes, blasting them off… and the explosion happens to be so big, that the twerps and Pikachu blast off with them! However, they all land in different places in the area, and while Ash makes a desperate grab in the air for Pikachu, he fails as he slips out into the woods.

Ash opens his eyes to find himself hanging on a branch, and his friends with him. He feels like something's missing, so he looks around… yes, May, Max, and Brock are there, but no Pikachu!

Team Rocket, on the other hand, have landed face-flat against a tree! As they all collapse, and Wobbuffet does its aerobics (yes, I'm serious), they also realize someone's missing, and no later do they realize it's Meowth. At first they think about looking for him, but like at times, Jessie is reluctant since he messes a lot of things up. James, however, convinces her that it's best.

Pikachu and Meowth have landed near each other in an open grassy meadow. As soon as they wake up from their unconsciousness, Pikachu slowly greets Meowth with a dazed look, but Meowth is too quick to think about falling for it again. As soon as he notices who he's standing next too, and afraid of being shocked, he starts threatening what will happen if he shocks, and ranting about the twerps and whatnot, and finally calling for Team Rocket, as if he captured it. However, after 5 seconds of silence, to his surprise, Pikachu is looking at Meowth as if he's some kind of stranger. Meowth still thinks he's just playing dumb, and warns him not to mess with Team Rocket, then dives at him for a slashing! However, realizing that Pikachu isn't being harmful, he stops just in time. Perhaps it wants to reason like it tried to in the Orange Islands? A bit later, Meowth manages to pick up from Pikachu that he doesn't have a clue where he should be, who he is, and where he is. Meowth then offers to help him, but by "help" he means deep down inside make it seem he's from Team Rocket, and use that to lure him to the boss… So, Meowth then "reminds" Pikachu that he's an old friend of his from a while ago, and he will help him return to his trainer, Giovanni. After that, he tells him about how he was a part of Team Rocket, then goes over the whole motto and teaches it the poses (as if he's reteaching). Slowly, Meowth is going to teach him the evil ways of Team Rocket!

In other parts of the woods, Ash's group sends out Swellow and Mudkip to search for Pikachu. Mudkip's fin can detect things from far away, so it may prove useful. Team Rocket are still calling for Meowth, from their area…

As Meowth and Pikachu are walking, Meowth is more than excited to be promoted by the boss. Suddenly, Pikachu hears some rustling in the bushes, so they both freeze. Out comes a very scared-looking Zigzagoon, who tries hiding behind them. Then, out of the bushes comes a Beedrill, and they realize that must have been what was attacking Zigzagoon. As Meowth and Zigzagoon both hide behind Pikachu, he Thunderbolts it and scares it off. They both thank him, and Zigzagoon runs off. Meowth, however, is worried about the case of him making friends with Pikachu, and what it would be like in the end when he gets it. Sure he values his status, but friendship is important too…

While Team Rocket are calling for Meowth, they start to think he might be hiding from them. After all, Jessie knows there is a Team Rocket hideout lodge somewhere in this area, so it's possible they are waiting there. While Pikachu and Meowth are now walking alongside a mountain, suddenly the ground collapses under Meowth's feet! Luckily, Pikachu grabs him by the tail, saving his life.

Mudkip seems to have found something, so Ash and co follow it. It leads them to a bunch of footprints! There are three different kind, and Ash easily recognizes Pikachu's. Brock then notices Zigzagoon tracks, and… Meowth tracks! Team Rocket must be nearby.

Pikachu and Meowth have reached the river, and while Meowth is pondering about how he'll find Team Rocket and make it to the Team Rocket hideout, Pikachu distracts him, offering him a fresh apple! Sure, it happened before… but Meowth is rather surprised he's being nice, after all they've been through again. After gladly thanking him, it's Meowth's turn to repay the favor. Remembering what Pikachu did last time, Meowth split the apple… but unfortunately one half is bigger than the other, so being a gentleMeowth, he offers Pikachu the bigger half! Aww…

The twerps have passed the place where Pikachu saved Meowth, but as they see the tracks go on, they figure Meowth must be chasing him! Swellow, on the other hand, has spotted the two and is going back to report it.

While our two critters are still walking up the mountain, Pikachu trips and starts rolling downhill! The following is self explanatory, Meowth saves it, returning the favor. Together, they continue their journey up the mountain, towards the Team Rocket hideout.

Team Rocket have finally arrived at the hideout lodge, so they figure this must be where Meowth is. As they scramble in, Swellow catches a quick glimpse of them, and makes its way back. Pretty soon, Pikachu and Meowth arrive at the hideout, thinking Team Rocket may be there. Surely enough, as they call, they both come out. However, Pikachu may have lost his memory, but Team Rocket sure do look familiar to him. As he gets ready to shock them, Meowth blocks him and tells him that they're his friends, and to wait a second. Seeing as Team Rocket have no clue what's going on, Meowth runs and whispers it to them, while Pikachu is utterly confused. James almost spills the beans, but Meowth stops him.

While Swellow has returned to lead Ash's group to the whereabouts of the hideout, Team Rocket are working on getting Pikachu's affection. As they gush over his cuteness, they both introduce each other, and warmly welcome him to the group. As it jumps on James' shoulder, he gets a bit nervous after what it's done before, but manages to keep his cool knowing that it means he likes him. Suddenly, the twerps arrive at the area, and Pikachu turns around… hmm, for some reason they look familiar as well. Ash, seeing Pikachu running free and all, calls it back… but nothing happens. As Team Rocket call it back, nothing happens either, and while Pikachu thinks about who to trust… slowly, he turns to Team Rocket. Speechless, Ash watches as he joins Team Rocket in the motto!

Max is especially surprised at Pikachu switching sides so quickly. Before anyone has time to think, Ash tries telling him to attack, but just gets glared at, to which Jessie chuckles. James then commands a Thunderbolt from Pikachu, and… he listens, knocking Ash back and shocking the heck out of him! Meowth then commands it as well, and is successful. Brock then thinks for a sec, and remembers what happened when he last saw Pikachu on their own side… and finally realizes that the machine thingamabob must have knocked its memory out cold. Team Rocket then laugh and say they have been brainwashing it, and now it's theirs. As they make a getaway in the balloon, Ash manages to grasp the wicker and climb in and take them on. James has gotten too excited, that the idiocy got to him as he told Pikachu to shock Ash, exploding the balloon and blasting them off. However, Ash nearly manages to catch Pikachu… but then they realize how far they're falling from, and how there's a river under them. Pikachu is a few feet below, but Ash makes a dive, and manages to grasp it just before they make a splash. As they drift through the river, Ash and Pikachu remember the times they had together in Hoenn, but before Ash remembers he's under water, he passes out.

A little later Ash washes up on a rock with Pikachu. As he licks him, Ash wakes up and is surprised to see it having switched back so quickly. Guess it must be thankful for saving him, and remembered. As he hugs it, Brock and the rest of them find him, but at the same time Team Rocket land in the river themselves. At first they're excited to see the rat, but then when they think too soon, the twerps have it Thunderbolt them back into blast-off land.

And in the end, Ash and Pikachu stayed together HAPPILY EVER AFTER as they make their way to Lilycove City.

Pokemon Episode 364: The Garden Of Eatin'!

Scenario:
On the way to Lilycove City, our heroes notice a big banner sign in the middle of nowhere, with a bunch of Slakoth munching on bananas. This one especially catches Max's attention, since he knows his dad's Slakoth pretty well and has been around them for a while. Brock checks on the map, and sees that there is indeed a Banana garden nearby, which is basically a habitat for Slakoth who love bananas. Ash is also interested, because he also met Norman's Slakoth, so they decide to check it out. Max and May, however, start to argue about if its even worth checking out, but Brock then takes out his recipe booklet and shows them all the wonderful goods that can be made from bananas, such as banana splits and whatnot. May then gets interested, and gives in.

As they walk, May borrows the recipe book as she drools over the great banana treats, eager to get there. Suddenly, they come to an entrance to a big jungle-like reserve, and given the sign, this must be it. It seems to be closed, though… but as Ash leans on the gate, to their surprise it moves, so they head on in. Oddly, it seems to be empty… after walking a bit, while May is more interested in the bananas, which there seems to be no sign of, Max gets disappointed at the lack of Slakoth. Suddenly, a big, loud rumbling shakes the forest, frightening them all! As they are paralyzed in fear, a few more pounds tremble the earth under them, just when the ground begins to crack… to their luck, a young man comes running to their rescue. They all follow him, and get to a small house, which seems to be the reception office for this place.

As they all pant out of breath, the man, who introduces himself as Makino, explains to them that the place is closed temporarily, because they are experiencing some difficulty. After the rumbling calms down, he shows them the window, and right outside they see a sleeping Snorlax! Since this is May's first time seeing one of those, she looks it up in the 'Dex, and Makino explains that the Snorlax has been terrorizing the Slakoth and gobbling up the bananas, and they realize that that must be the reason for the lack of either. A lot of the Slakoth have either run away, or have been hiding in fear without even a chance to eat the bananas, because of that Snorlax. Makino then explains that he's been working on a plan to get rid of Snorlax.

Ash then remembers dealing with similar Snorlax issues in the past, and he even remembers capturing one in the Orange Islands. Of course neither Brock, May, or Max were there when he did it, but knowing him, they believe he can handle it pretty well. After all, Brock has met Ash's Snorlax when he used it in that Sumo tournament and the Johto League, but it's currently at Professor Oak's lab. Makino does indeed know Professor Oak, and knowing that Ash has captured a Snorlax, he trusts them that they're worthy enough to help him save the Slakoth, to which they gladly agree.

Team Rocket wouldn't be far from the twerps as well, but first they notice the sleepy Snorlax in the garden. Once again, Meowth comes up with another far-fetched plan to steal Snorlax, give it to the boss as a good-morning present in a giant box, assuming he would like it and have no fear of it trampling his house, as it takes him on an adventure through the wilderness with a beautiful view. Yeah, Meowth sure has some narrowed-down fantasies.

Back at the lodge, Makino shows them the security cameras he has through the garden, as Ash and the others keep an eye on the snoozing Snorlax. Suddenly, they hear another huge pound shortly after turning it off, and Makino explains that he's used to Snorlax rolling over in its sleep. Ash, on the other hand, feels confident enough to battle Snorlax and maybe help get rid of it by capturing it in a Pokeball. Suddenly, May notices on the screen that Snorlax is now wide awake, and feasting away on the bananas! It's really asking for it now, and before anyone could think, Ash rushes outside to find it and challenge it, while the others follow.

As Snorlax nears the area where the Slakoth are taking cover, Ash finds it, and demands it to stop, and when it doesn't, he challenges it and threatens to capture it. It doesn't seem to care as it just continues eating, so Ash has Pikachu try its Thunder. Sure it causes a big explosion and even surrounds Snorlax with smoke, but as it clears, they find Snorlax still feasting on banana bunches, as if nothing happened. While Max and Brock are paying attention to the effect, all May seems to notice is that her precious bananas are still being eaten, to which Max and Brock sigh in disappointment. Ash then tries having Pikachu strike its Iron Tail, but it seems to have just as little effect as Snorlax is still happily feasting on the bananas. Just then, Snorlax leans back with its mouth open. Ash thinks its probably done eating and about to sleep again, glad the battle will be easier now. But Brock is more aware of what's going on, and warns Ash that Snorlax is actually acknowledging the battle, and about to counter with its Yawn technique! Ash has no idea what that is, and before he can ask, Snorlax releases a line of pink bubbles, and Ash suddenly gets all fatigued and drowsy, as does Pikachu, and they both collapse on the ground and doze off. Brock then explains the effect of the attack causing drowsiness, as Max and May try and shake them awake. Unfortunately, Snorlax's Yawn bubbles hit them too, and they fall asleep as well. Before Brock and Makino can do anything, it hits them too. Snorlax then takes a deep breath of victory, and joins them in the nap.

As usual, Team Rocket are flying over the garden in their balloon equipped with a lever and robot claw, searching for Snorlax. To their luck, they find not only it sleeping, but the twerps sleeping next to it, so perhaps they can snag Pikachu too! Meowth gently lowers the claw at Snorlax, trying not to wake up the blob. Unfortunately for them, they don't know about its ability to do stuff in its sleep, and just as it's an inch away, they get a taste of Snorlax's Yawn attack, and the three of them fall asleep in the balloon. While they're asleep, Meowth lets go of the lever, losing control of the claw which goes back up. In fact, it goes back up so fast, that the balloon explodes, and Team Rocket, STILL asleep (man, heavy sleepers), fall out of the balloon and land in a bush near the twerps. Even after that, they still haven't woken up.

A few hours later, after they've all woken up, Makino and the twerps are back at the lodge, and Ash has decided to make a call to Professor Oak. Having explained the while situation to him, he's rather surprised they were hit by a Yawn attack of all things. Max then reminds Ash of his Snorlax he said he had, so he asks Oak for it. Well, as Oak calls Ash's Snorlax, he says its doing pretty well, in a very healthy condition, he even shows them that he has been feeding it fresh PokeBlocks! Ash and the others are already familiar with PokeBlocks and their functions, and they're glad to see that he's feeding it some. However, Oak then breaks the bad news to them, that if Ash wants to battle the other Snorlax with it, that wouldn't be a good idea, since Snorlax needs to wait between PokeBlock meals to battle. Ash then sighs, but Oak has a bit of advice for them. A decent way to evade Snorlax's Yawn attack would be to use a Pokemon with an Ability such as Vital Spirit or Insomnia, so it won't be able to fall asleep. Max may be an expert, but having grown up with his dad, it would be basic knowledge to him that Vigoroth has Vital Spirit! The last Vigoroth they saw may have been at home, but seeing as there are Slakoth in this garden, there has got to be one close enough to evolution. To their luck, Makino actually has been training the lead Slakoth, and it's at a pretty high level, so one more battle should evolve it. Their plan to capture Snorlax should be self explanatory by now.

As Makino leads them to Slakoth's current hideout, he tries calling them, but they're too scared to come out. Then, he says he has a plan to get rid of Snorlax, but he needs them for it, especially the lead one. However, they've dealt with enough pain, they are all too scared to move. So now Makino tries to actually explain the plan a bit more deeper, and says that all he needs is to help one of them evolve into a Vigoroth, and from there, have it take on Snorlax in a battle. The Slakoth are a bit surprised at this, and the leader is a little nervous, but the rest of them seem to trust it the most. While its taking the Slakoth so long to settle this and convince the leader to try, Makino is about to give up, but as usually happens when someone gives up, the lead Slakoth jumps out of the bushes, with a stronger and braver than ever attitude. Makino thanks it with a hug, and off to training they go, as the rest of the Slakoth watch from behind the bushes.

First, they start off with Makino using it to face off in a battle against some of Ash's Pokemon. Pikachu uses Quick Attack, Slakoth uses Counter and knocks it back. Torkoal uses Flamethrower, Slakoth easily dodges it. Grovyle then tries Leaf Blade, Slakoth counters with Scratch. As they continue the same routine for a while, eventually all three of them faint, and just as they had planned, Slakoth evolves! Now that they've got a Vigoroth, all they gotta do is find Snorlax now.

They find Snorlax easily in a nearby grove snacking on banana bunches again, and challenge it for a rematch with Makino's brand spankin' new Vigoroth. As he sends it to fight, Snorlax tries opening its mouth for a Yawn attack, but Vigoroth just ignores the Yawn and keeps running, and hits it hard with a Scratch. The battle seems to be going somewhere for once, as Snorlax fires a series of Hyper Beams which Vigoroth is fast enough to dodge. Snorlax still hasn't given up Yawn, and as it tries it again failing miserably, Vigoroth knocks it back with another Scratch, nearly fainting it, as it beats its belly with glee (jungle style!). Vigroth now uses its Focus Energy, but Snorlax is already in the air, about to Body Slam it! Thinking fast, before it lands, Vigoroth uses the energy for a Focus Punch, which pretty much leaves Snorlax motionless. Makino then tries the PokeBall, and successfully captures it! Makino congratulates Vigoroth, and just then all the Slakoth who have been watching from behind the bushes come out and thank them both, hugging them.

Well, now that the Snorlax problem has finally been settled, the reserve is now open again as a tourist attraction, and a Vigoroth has been added onto the sign and banner. To celebrate, Makino has made them a wedding-style banana cake with tiers, and a Slakoth on top! May thanks him greatly, but the rest of them think she's a bit too excited, of course. While they're at it, Makino might as well put his Snorlax to some use, which he does. Since a lot of traveling tourists come to this lodge, he's made a rest area room for people to take a nap, and he plans to let Snorlax hang out it this room, and use its Yawn to help them fall asleep, as well as the workers who stay there overnight. Another stop, another hand-lending, another adventure… now its time for the group to head on towards Lilycove City! They're almost there, anyway.

While you're probably wondering what became of Team Rocket who fell asleep in the bushes earlier… well, lets just say they had a dream of being a new, greatly improved TR, and still have yet to wake up to realize their disappointment to reality… day, another side adventure, now, back on the road to Lilycove City.

Pokemon Episode 363: Crazy As A Lunatone!

Scenario:
CRASH! At the crack of dawn, a meteor has just landed on earth, and sent a shockwave off for miles. Of course, the PFC (Pokemon Fushigi/Mystery Club) Ken and Mary are psyched about this, so they hurry to check it out. Taking out their flashlights and equipment, they use their skills to construct another one of their mechanical vehicles with robotic arms and whatnot. This mechanism has a searchlight as well, so they use that to search for the meteor and successfully spot it, then use their missile-launcher to blast it, enough to get samples or maybe discover something.

Out of the meteor comes a bright glow, and within seconds, the Moon Pokemon Lunatone rises up from the rocks. This is the kind of exotic find that would especially spark the PFC's interest, so now its time to use the arms to grab Lunatone and study it. Unfortunately for them, Lunatone is very agile and good at dodging and evading the arms. Suddenly, as it gets a chance, it uses its Psychic to lift the heavy vehicle, distracting K&M. While they desperately try zapping it and just get the energy absorbed, Lunatone opens its eye and interrupts with a red glow of Hypnosis, freezing them in their tracks, as Lunatone floats away and escapes to the nearby town.

Sure enough, while Ash and the others are making their way to Lilycove City, they'd stumble upon this town as well. Just to basically rest at a Pokemon center, Max sees "Valley Town" nearby on the PokeNav, so they might as well go there.

Team Rocket, hiding in the nearby bushes and snacking on rice crackers have heard the crash, and as well as spying on Ash & Co., are interested in the meteor as well. They actually have an idea of where it landed, so as usual, they're gonna get it for "the boss".

Ash & Co. have arrived in Valley Town… and my, what a ghost town. No people out, tumbleweed rolling by… and basically rather creepy, a bit like Dark City in Kanto. As they make their way to the Pokemon Center, it also seems to be all deserted and empty, even no Joy behind the counter! Well… maybe not, it seems she was just in the back room, and having heard them, she came to investigate. However, although Brock doesn't realize it, she's not very nice. In fact, she's acting like she doesn't know what they're doing here, and when asked to heal Pokemon or let them stay, she rudely refuses, and tells them that this is a bad choice for a Pokemon Center, and walks out.

Ash & Co. are flabbergasted at Joy's strange behavior, there's got to be a reason she's like that. Brock, however, considers himself the "Nurse Joy expert" and takes out of his backpack something he's been hiding from us for a long time… a photo album of all the Joy's! He claims to know them all very well, and NO Joy would ever act like that without reason. But anyway, since Valley Town Joy is being so stubborn, they might as well let them all feast on their own meal.

While Ash & Co. are snacking, and the Pokemon are noshing on Brock's chow, Lombre suddenly seems to be picking up something, shrugs, and walks away. It's just seconds later that Brock realizes Lombre is missing, and its dish is still full. Apparently, Lombre heard something in the nearby bushes and decided to investigate, only to be grabbed by two suspicious looking people, which then grab the twerp's attention. They instantly suspect TR, but are shocked to realize that these people have a PokeDex machine they are using to get info on Lombre, something Team Rocket would never have in a million years. After getting the info, they decide to remove their masks, and reveal themselves as Ken and Mary from the PFC. Ash and Brock sure remember them from back when they helped that Cleffa. They then explain that recently, a meteor crashed around here, and they were the first to get to it. After much investigating, they found a mysterious Pokemon emerge, which must mean there are more Pokemon in outer space. Thinking fast, they say their goodbyes and rush off to look for it.

The person most interested in this seems to be Max, who can't wait to discover it. Brock explains that a while ago it's been discovered that Clefairy came from outer space, so it's possible. Then, they realize that with such an incident as this one going on, its no wonder Joy would be busy, she's probably studying data! Time to make their way back to the Pokemon Center and help, being who they are and all… but they must be careful not to annoy Joy.

Team Rocket are also just as interested, so while spying on them in the bushes, they decide to follow them to the center. Unfortunately for them, its closed by the time they get there, so they will have to get in through the window. With a simple ladder, it's pretty darn easy for them. However, they make a bit too big of a crash when landing inside.

Yes, Ash & Co. heard it, so they follow where it came from. When they get to a long hall, they see a rather… disturbing shadow, and Max wonders if that could be the Pokemon from outer space being studied here. Nah, its just TR, threatening to get to the meteor before them. Not like they have a clue what "meteor" they're talking about, but before they can ask, Joy's voice interrupts. Nervous, Ash & Co. and TR head to the nearest hiding place, afraid to be caught.

Well, they both wound up in the storage room. Before they all plan their next move, a rustling sound in the nearby boxes interrupts. James turns on his flashlight, and to his surprise, finds a Lunatone hanging about in here. Ash checks the PokeDex for info, and gets a lot more than just that—it classifies it as the "Meteor Pokemon", and says that it is said to have come from outer space… this must be it! However, if this is it, then why would it be in the storage room? Must be so no one would find it.

Suddenly, the light clicks on, and Joy appears in the doorway. She's definitely surprised they found it, and even moreso when TR threaten to catch it. Sending out Cacnea and Seviper, they try a combined Needle Arm and Bite. Lunatone opens its eye and easily takes care of them with a Psychic, knocking them both out. However, after such a powerful attack, Lunatone collapses on the floor, tired out. Brock then goes all lala and offers to help Joy with Lunatone, before she even asks! While they're going about it, Meowth is having a conversation in the corner with Lunatone. He actually seems to feel quite sorry for it, and wants to help it. However, Team Rocket outrule him and insist on using force, commanding a Needle Arm and Poison Tail. Realizing that Lunatone is too tired to battle, Ash has Pikachu interfere and blast all three of them off (including Meowth) through the roof with a Thunderbolt.

While examining Lunatone at the table, Joy declares that it's in a really weak condition, and there's only one way they can heal it. They will have to expose it to moonlight. Ash & Co. already want to help, seeing as this will be an exciting adventure. However, Joy tells them that the best place in the area to be exposed to bright moonlight is on Camerupt Mountain. It's not hard to miss, as its just over the river and through that area, with twin mountains that look like the formation of a Camerupt's back. That would be no trouble for them, seeing as they saw a Camerupt recently and have a basic idea in their mind of what the mountain would look like.

As they embark on their journey through the mountains, they bring Lunatone with them in a big cardboard box on wheels, along with some other aid equipment. Pikachu is in there too, to keep an eye on Lunatone and make sure it's okay, and that it doesn't go crazy.

Suddenly, they run into the PFC once again, who ask if they've seen the meteor or the mysterious Moon-shaped Pokemon. Not trusting them, they think fast and say they have no idea where it is, but then decide to lie and lead them on a wild goose chase, giving random directions, and then passing by, glad to get them out of their way. Ken is a little suspicious, so they take out their kit and once again build a machine to help them find it…

Ash & Co. have nearly reached the top, and Max is the first to notice a distant formation in the rocks which looks exactly like the back of a Camerupt, according to him. Being the Pokemon expert, they trust them, but Joy confirms him correct anyway. As they let Pikachu and Lunatone out, Joy checks her watch, and says that the moon should rise right about now. And here it comes! A big round yellow thing rising above the mountains… hah, no, that's Team Rocket in their balloon, still not having given up. Good job posing as the moon though!

As they stretch out their claw to grab Lunatone, Ash tries jumping in the way—but he doesn't need to, as something else has already stopped their claw. Although that's not good news, because that thing that stopped them is the claw from the PFC's vehicle, who are also after Lunatone! Great, now they're gonna fight for it. They sure do remember each other from the Cleffa incident, and that's not getting in their way one bit.

After a bit of verbal arguing, Ken and Mary's vehicle being heavier uses this to their advantage, shaking them around a bit. But they don't let go! Not like that's a problem, seeing as how both arms are made of metal, they're easily able to zap the balloon and send TR off. Now its all a matter of stopping the PFC.

Pikachu tries an Iron Tail, but is knocked back by the machine's arm. Mudkip tries a Water Gun, hitting them a little, but suffers the same fate. May tries a different strategy, using her long lost Beautifly's Silver Wind, dealing them a lot of damage! Mudkip still has some energy, so it helps with Water Gun. As does Pikachu, who helps a bit with Thunderbolt. Not much damage is done to the machine, unfortunately.

Suddenly, Joy notices that the moon is rising, and this time it's the real deal. Everyone watches as it slowly rises, and Lunatone uses its Moonlight technique, replenishing all its energy back to normal. Lunatone is back now, and stronger than ever! So strong, that it's a perfect target for the PFC. Not a wise one, though. As they make one final attempt to grab it, Lunatone uses its Hidden Power, destroying the machine, and blasting it off!

Ash sure feels proud, being involved in solving such a huge mystery, and helping an exotic Pokemon like Lunatone. However, it's time for them to part, as Lunatone is headed back to its home on the Moon. Everyone waves and slowly watches as Lunatone drifts off, until they can't see it anymore. Another day, another side adventure, now, back on the road to Lilycove City.
