Pokemon Episode 249: Outrageous Fortunes

Scenario:
Ash and the others, on the way to Blackthorn City, have stopped by a town on the way, and decided to rest at the Pokemon Center for a little while. A little later, Ash hears some excitement going on outside, and looks out and notices theres a Pokemon battle going on, and people are watching! Ash goes outside to check it out, and joins the audience crowd. A Poliwrath and Hitmontop are battling, and the battle seems to be going well, and they both seem good with physical fighting. Misty, being the water Pokemon lover she is, points out how well Poliwrath was trained, and Ash seems impressed as well. Back in the battle, Poliwrath manages to catch Hitmontop’s leg, and then use Submission, which weakens him, actually causing him to faint! The whole crowd applauds.
However, Ash wonders how Poliwrath used that Submission, for it’s a fighting move. Misty explains that if you evolve a Poliwhirl into a Poliwrath, it can learn fighting moves! Then, the boy asks for more challengers, and Ash then goes up and is about to challenge him, but Misty pushes him out of the way and says it’s her turn. She says that he wouldn’t be a good match, and then Ash gives her an annoyed look. Ash and Misty start arguing, but then the guy gets annoyed at them and tells them to stop, and he will decide who he battles. He chooses Misty, which makes Ash a bit angry. The boy takes out Poliwrath, and she decides to use Poliwhirl, and they start by using Water Gun on each other, trying to knock each other back. Ash and Brock seem slightly amused at this situation. But then, Poliwhirl uses a Bubble attack, which Poliwrath dodges easily and uses a Doubleslap, followed by a Submission!
Poliwhirl faints, and Misty quickly runs up and hugs it and returns it to the Pokeball, and the boy, on the other hand, is glad that he had 8 straight victories. Ash then gets interested, and decides to challenge him this time. He uses Bayleef, which uses a Razor Leaf, which Poliwrath easily dodges. He then counterattacks with a Doubleslap. As Misty watches the battle, she gets an idea that she might consider evolving her Poliwhirl into Poliwrath. As Poliwrath and Bayleef are now using Strength to try to knock each other back, Team Rocket are watching them from a distance. They seem to remember experiences with Poliwrath being stronger than Pikachu. James and Meowth then agree with Jesse, that if any Pokemon is as good as Pikachu, its Poliwrath. They all start planning their moves to capture Poliwrath for a change, and get into action! Meanwhile, Poliwrath and Bayleef are still fighting, almost out of breath and glaring at each other. Ash orders Bayleef to use a Body Slam, while the boy orders Poliwrath to use Doubleslap. Suddenly, Brock interrupts the match and says it’s a draw.
They start yelling at him, but then Brock points out that both Poliwrath and Bayleef have used up all their physical strength and are tired. Then, they boy realizes it and agrees. He congratulates the remarkable strength of Ash’s Bayleef, while Ash compliments the boy’s Poliwrath. They shake hands, and introduce each other, his name being Yasuji, followed by Brock and Misty introducing themselves. Ash and the others then go back to the Pokemon Center and decide to rest, however Ash doesn’t notice their cleaning the floor, and he trips. Brock and Misty make sure he’s ok, which he is, but as he gets up, his backpack falls and everything falls out. As they clean it up, Poliwhirl seems to be examining the crown they won in the sumo tournament. Misty then returns Poliwhirl to its Pokeball, and asks Joy to treat it. Meanwhile, Yasuji is walking down the road, holing his Poliwrath Pokeball and apologizing. Suddenly, Jesse runs into him, disguised as a fortune teller. Then, Jesse takes out a crystal ball, and says she can clearly see Yasuji’s future.
However, Yasuji finds it suspicious and wonders what a fortune teller would be doing in a non crowded place. James and Meowth then come out disguised as farmers, and say that Jesse is the best fortune teller ever. James makes up a story about how she predicted that the great mandarin orange would grow on his farm, and she was right. He says that ever since that incident, she was his hero. Jesse smiles at their compliments, and James and Meowth thank her once again. Yasuji is about to leave, but Jesse gets angry and says that he hasn’t even given them a chance yet. Then she says that she already knows that his strongest Pokemon is Poliwrath. Yasuji is then surprised that she actually was right about that, and he doesn’t even know her. He has an idea that this probably is worth it. Yasuji then asks about his future, and Jesse starts to look into her crystal ball, and say he will have successful skills. He starts to smile…. But the Jesse turns nervous suddenly. She says she needs his most powerful Pokemon, for something important.
He seems surprised, but he gives them the ball, and they place it on a cloth, and say that this is the “ceremony of exorcism”. They then tell Yasuji to close his eyes, count to 30, and pray that all evil will go away. He agrees, and does so. He closes his eyes and starts counting… but then he hears them planning something, and he suspects. He opens his eyes slowly, surprised to find that the Pokeball is in her hand! Then, they notice he peeked, and before he could do anything, they run away and make a break for it. Then, Yasuji yells angrily at them to come back…
Ash and the others then hear his cries, and follow it to him. As Ash catches up to him, Yasuji tells them what’s going on… and then they suddenly notice Team Rocket going off in a balloon with Poliwrath! Ash and the others cant let them get away, and they desperately chase them. Ash suddenly trips on the hill, and as he gets up, he realizes that by then they would be way off. He’s right, it seems they are already on the other side of the mountain. Ash is about to take out Noctowl— But then he realizes that all his Pokemon are still at the center! They decide to go retrieve them, and then quickly pursue Team Rocket. Team Rocket have a feeling they’re way too deep in the mountains for Ash and co to find, so they decide to take out Poliwrath. Jesse introduces herself to it, and says she’s its new trainer, and proudly states that she’s gonna help it become a master.
However… Poliwrath then Doubleslap’s Jesse, which gets her really pissed because she thinks her face is ruined. Jesse calms down and tries to test out Poliwrath a little. She takes out Arbok, and tells it to attack, but before it can do anything, it’s knocked out by a Doubleslap! Team Rocket are surprised at the situation. James decides to try to make friends with it… he reaches down to slowly pat it… and it grabs him and uses a Submission J. Meowth then tries to impress it by singing, but it knocks him out with a Water Gun as well. James realizes this is tough, but he’s still amazed. Jesse still won’t give up though! Ash and the others get to the Pokemon Center in the woods, and stop and get the Pokemon, and ask Joy if she happened to see Team Rocket. She says she didn’t, but they go to search anyways. Suddenly, they see some man, who seems very angry. He says he saw them using Poliwrath to fight a wild Ursaring… and the way they were doing it was horrible. Ash and the others are surprised, and the man leads them there.
They watch and Jesse controls the “Force-you-to do what-I-want” machine. They were gonna challenge Ursaring to the match, but since Poliwrath doesn’t really like them, Jesse had to hold the lever tightly. She has Poliwrath use a Doubleslap attack! Then, Ursaring counterattacks with a Body Slam, causing Poliwrath to flinch for a moment. However, Jesse doesn’t give up, and as she grasps the control lever, she has Poliwrath use a Submission! Team Rocket talk about how good the machine is, when suddenly Ash and the others arrive! They demand Poliwrath back! However, Jesse thinks that their luck that she has to control it, when it doesn’t really like her. Ash gets angry and decides to help Poliwrath! He takes out Phanpy, but before it can attack, they have Poliwrath use a Water Gun! However, Yasuji stops and tells Ash not to attack, which shocks him. He says its not a good idea to use Phanpy, and he’s right, cause Phanpy gets Doubleslapped. Ash seems to really be in trouble now. Misty then tries to help, and takes out Corsola. She decides to try to get up there somehow, and has it use Spike Cannon as a hook, which bring Corsola up to the balloon. Suddenly Meowth tries to weaken Corsola so the can capture it, and he Scratches it.
However, Meowth lost to a Body Slam, and was knocked back into Jesse. Yasuji is worried because it looks like Poliwrath fainted, but it slowly rises. Meanwhile, in all the mayhem going on up in the balloon, the control lever goes flying, and Meowth catches it. He tries to make it use Flamethrower and Hyper Beam, but Jesse then smacks him and tells him the Poliwrath is a Water Type, it can’t do that! Anyways, Poliwhirl is free now, and uses a Submission on Team Rocket! Meowth and James seem to be angry now. Poliwrath Doubleslaps Jesse, making her drop the machine. The 3 of them get angry now, and James sends out Victreebel to attack! Jesse takes out Arbok, but Ash and Misty try to help Poliwrath. Ash takes out Phanpy, and Misty takes out Poliwhirl.
Ash is then surprised to notice that Poliwhirl is still holding the crown of the King’s Rock when he comes out— And then it glows… and evolves into Politoed! Ash and the others watch, their mouths wide open. Ash and the others admire the figure of Politoed, and Dexter explains that Politoed is an alternate evolution for Poliwhirl, using the King’s Rock. Misty thinks it would be fun to train Politoed. Jesse, however loses her patience and has Arbok tackle Phanpy. James also sends out Victreebel to attack Politoeed, but Politoed uses a Water Gun and a Doubleslap! Misty is impressed at this Politoed’s moves. Misty complements it, and it starts dancing. However, Phanpy is being kicked around by Arbok.
Brock then looks up in his book that that’s Politoed’s Swagger attack. Misty has Politoed use Swagger, and Arbok and Victreebel suddenly get confused, and start attacking each other! Team Rocket are surprised at the situation, and Misty is glad… until Arbok somehow hits Politoed with its Body Slam. Brock then explains that Swagger also raises their attack power, but that could be good, because they usually attack each other, but not in this case, when they are attacking her. Poliwrath uses a Doubleslap fainting Arbok, which impressed Politoed.
Then, Poliwrath Doubleslaps Victreebel, fainting it as well. As they fell, the Pokeball fell from the balloon, and Yasuji easily caught it and returned Poliwrath. Pikachu then uses a Thunderbolt, making Team Rocket blast off again. Ash and the others then walk with Yasuji back to town, and Yasuji thanks them for their help. Ash promises he’ll battle him someday in the Johto league perhaps. They shake hands, leave the Town, and head for Blackthorn City!
