Scenario:
As our heroes are headed to Blackthorn City for the next Badge, they come across a volcanic zone. Ash is excited about the badge, as usual. Misty is annoyed that is so hot in there, since shes anti fire. Brock tells her that they are in a volcanic zone. It was so hot in there, that a hot spring comes up. Ash and Misty quickly head for the Hot Spring.
Meanwhile, J&J are bathing at another hot spring. Jessie says it feels nice to take a break from the job, resting in a hot spring, while Meowth is confused. He says that Ash and the twerps are approaching, and they must follow them! But Jessie and James are too involved in the Hot Spring, and would rather relax and take a break from the mission. Suddenly, they notice a geyser pop up nearby. Then they see a lot in the hot springs, and find it a cool sight. Suddenly, the ground runbles, and a geyser gushes up from underneath Team Rocket, sending them blasting off.
Meanwhile, our other heroes are tired of walking, and feeling the hot ground. Suddenly, they come across this red slug-like Pokemon, and decide to investigate. “Magcargo. The Fire type Lava Pokemon. This Pokemon may let out a flame from the shell on its back.” After that, they look up to the cliff, and Brock sees a bunch of glaring Magcargo. Brock then realizes that this area is full of wild Magcargo. Unfortunately Misty seems to be scared of Magcargo.
Later, Ash and the others come to the volcano area, where all the heat is escaping. Unfortunately, they come across a huge sleeping Magcargo in the way of the path, and they get frustrated. Ash then angrily yells at Magcargo to wake up. Although he did manage to wake Magcargo up, he got it really angry, and has a flame ready to attack. It attacks them with a Flamethrower!! They barely manage to avoid it, and run away. Magcargo attacks again with another Flamethrower, since its really angry now. They manage to dodge it again, and Magcargo gives up and goes to sleep again. However, they still want it out of the way, so they can go explore the top of the mountain. Misty then remembers that a Water type has an advantage to a fire type! As she’s about to sent out something, Psyduck jumps out of the bag. Misty gets pissed, and Psyduck just stares and studies Magcargo. Suddenly, he disturbs Magcargo’s sleep, and he wakes up and scared the heck out of Psyduck. ^-^ Misty then recalls Psyduck, and releases Poliwhirl, and has it shoot a Water Gun at Magcargo. Magcargo then immediately withdraws into its shell, and Misty is surprised and its good defense. Magcargo then shakes around, causing a Rock Slide on the cliff. Misty then tells Poliwhirl to hang in there, and avoid it. Poliwhirl manages to avoid the avalanche, but Magcargo Body Slams it. Poliwhirl avoids it, but a Flamethrower from Magcargo manages to make Poliwhirl faint. Misty is worried, but as she recalls Poliwhirl, she said it did its best.
Suddenly, they hear someone laughing out loud, and they look around. They see a boy standing on a cliff, and he says that Misty put up a pathetic battle, compared to him!
Misty then gets angry, and yells at him, and they start arguing for a while. Then, he says he’s experienced, and wants to visit the volcano secrets, but Brock says its dangerous. “I am the burning master! Volcanoes are my life!” He yells, as he jumps off the cliff J. He lands, totally OK and unwounded. Ash is amazed at his skills. Then, the kid says theres a reason why he laughed at Misty before. Magcargo can’t be beat with such trainers like Misty who use water Pokemon. Misty gets angry again. She is about to challenge the Magcargo again, but it just entered a nearby cave, and left. The kid is confused at whats going on J. But the boy is still looking out for Magcargo. It seems to have been angry because of the battle with Misty. The boy introduces himself as Yakeishi.
He says his goal is to be the “Flame King”, that is the master of all Fire type Pokemon, since they are the best. Misty gets angry at that comment and tries to get calmed down by Ash and Brock. She says that her goal is to be the “Water Queen” and then Yakeishi laughs at her. They make a few points about which is better, and they go on arguing. Ash and Brock are enjoying watching the argument . They wouldn’t stop fighting, and eventually decide to settle it with a battle. Ash then tells them, that he knows from experience that this never works. So, then Yakeishi agrees, and leaves to go try to capture that Magcargo. But, Misty is angry, cause if he gets the Magcargo, that Magcargo already beat her Poliwhirl. Ash tells Misty that its best to just abandon this place. Meanwhile, Team Rocket are in their balloon, enjoying themselves, thinking of a plan, and suddenly a geyser comes and blasts them off.
Ash and the gang are walking freely now, but Misty is still mad at Yakeishi. She keeps grunting . Then suddenly Yakeishi came from the cave! He and Misty then see eachother, and they start to grunt again. Magcargo then comes out of the cave, and is challenged to a match by Yakeishi! He sends out Flareon, who uses a Swift attack, followed by a Flamethrower by Magcargo who just gets hit. Misty thinks and hopes the same thing that happened to Poliwhirl will happen to Flareon. Magcargo then throws itself at a cliff, starting a Rock Slide. Although Flareon manages to avoid them with Agility, a huge boulder comes that he fails to avoid! But, Flareon lets out a Flamethrower, and Magcargo withdraws. Yakeishi then gets frustrated at its cowardness. But, then Magcargo counters with his own Flamethrower, and hits Flareon. Flareon is then hurt badly, and tries its best to get up, but Magcargo stops to see what will happen. Ash and the others are amazed at this situation. Then Magcargo goes for a Body Slam (Flareon got up), followed by a Fire spin, which hurts Flareon badly. Then Flareon collapses in a lot of damage, but doesn’t faint yet. Misty tries to warn him that its practically impossible, but, however, Flareon gets up! Yakeishi wont give up, he tells Flareon to counter with another Flamethrower. But since Magcargo released a Flamethrower, Flareon releases one too to avoid it. However, Magcargo has a stronger flame, therefore Flareon takes the Flamethrower!
Brock is worried, but Yakeishi is laughing, since at least he was able to give it SOME damage, unlike Misty. He’s surprised, however, that Flareon took so much damage, it fainted. Although Magcargo wanders off again into the cave, Yakeishi picks up the weakened Flareon. He recalls it, congratulating it with good work. Now Ash and Brock are amused, since now they each can have a shot at Magcargo. Yakeishi then wanders off, as Misty gets the last laugh. He warns her not to laugh-- or else. But, Misty wonders, how can she not make fun of someone who disses and and complains about Water Pokemon. A bit later they start fighting and arguing again. Then, Brock cuts in, and tells them all its lunchtime. Then Yakeishi refuses to go, since he thinks there isn’t really lunch, he just wants to stop. Misty knows Brock is honest, but Yakeishi refuses anyway . Meanwhile, Team Rocket are hiding on a tall cliff, planning a scheme. When Yakeishi goes for Magcargo, they will snatch Pikachu. They argue for a while about a plan. Meowth is hungry. Eventually, they decide to get Pikachu together. James is convinced. They start going, but suddenly, it gets really hot, and Magcargo comes! It does a Flamethrower, as Team Rocket escape.

Misty notices Flareon is enjoying his meal, and Yakeishi is glad. He hasn’t forgot about the battle they were going to do! Flareon looks strong and ready to battle! Misty realizes that Yakeishi treats Flareon very well, and they love each other and get along well. Yakeishi also doesn’t like when people diss his Flareon, since their always confident. He always tells it to “Burn!” before a battle, and they seem ready right now. Misty then remembers about their battle. She says, usually when you diss the other trainer’s Pokemon, you’re over-confident, and lose. Misty then gets a little mad at Yakeishi for bragging too much about his Flareon. Yakeishi is then surprised, and apologizes. Misty is relieved, and smiles as she accepts it. Then, Misty tells Yakeishi about this famous book called “Feelings of Water” which Misty always loved, and got her interested in how Water Pokemon are so cool. Then, Yakeishi wonders how water could have such a feeling, and thinks. Then, Misty explains how water can be in many forms, and she finds that cool. No matter what attack hits you, you should be flexible and fast like water. Now Yakeishi is convinced, and is ready to make another attempt at catching Magcargo. Ash and Brock are relieved now. Ash then points out to Yakeishi that Magcargo is emerging from the cave again, just about now! Yakeishi quickly gets ready and prepared to battle it. As he takes out Flareon, Magcargo throws itself at a cliff, causing a Rock Slide. Yakeishi give Flareon directions to avoid the rocks. Then Flareon avoids the rocks, and gives Magcrago a Quick Attack. Then Flareon does a Flamethrower, but Magcargo Withdraws into its shell, avoiding the fire! Then, Flareon runs up to Magcargo, and jumps on its shell! Magcargo gets confused, but Flareon uses a Flamethrower in his sensitive parts. Magcargo tries to shake Flareon off! Flareon hangs on desperately, and another Flamethrower is given to Magcargo, inflicting more damage! However, Magcargo withdraws again, but this time Flareon takes a running start from the cliff to catch on to Magcargo. He manages to tackle Magcargo and weaken it more, and then lets out a Flamethrower. Magcargo faints!! As Yakeishi notices that, he throws a Pokeball…. And captures Magcargo!! He is very pleased with his catch.
Suddenly, a huge robot arm grabs the ball, and its coming from Team Rocket! They yell at them to give it back, but of course, they refuse, and fly away with it in the balloon. However, Misty gets angry and sends out Poliwhirl. Time to impress Yakeishi! She has it aim for the arm, and shoot a Water Gun, which hits! It hits the button, and the ball is released, right into Yakeishi’s hand, as Misty thanks him. But Team Rocket then take out Arbok and Victreebel, and have them attack. Then Yakeishi taken out Magcargo, which gets attacked a little by Arbok and Victreebel. Poliwhirl and Magcargo shoot a Flamethrower and a Water Gun, fainting Arbok and Victreebel. Pikachu then Thunderbolts them into Blast-off land.
Then, Yakeishi apologizes to Misty for all the nasty stuff he said about Water Pokemon, and Misty apologized for insulting his Fire Pokemon. They shake hands, laugh, and promise to meet again someday, and maybe have a battle. Meanwhile Ash and Brcok are going ahead, and Misty catches up. They keep heading to Blackthorn City for the next Gym!
